When I went to get my permit, the DMV was fast. Here they normally are except we have a lot of people who don't speak English around here and there are no Spanish translators at the DMV. Sometimes that slows it down for a while.

I worked DMV for a while, under contract. What they do here is just punch a hole in the old one, and give it back to you. BUT!! Remember, this is the NEW Real ID Act driver license you get now ... so maybe, that is what they do in your town? Also here, since the "county" (Parish Police Jury) owns the property, YOU get charged THREE BUCKS rental fee, ON TOP of your state-imposed fee, for your license!!

It took the whole morning to get my level one license, it was around noon when we finally got done. Those DMV places are not fun.

I live in the midwest and our DMV is fast too. I guess they are not that bright in the south!lol
