@MultiPlanina is there nothing spiritual to be had in sport climbing, or rock climbing in general?. the climbers aren't trying to emulate monkeys, but are following their innate drive in the outlet they enjoy best. it seems like you just never found anything worthwhile in this sport, so you've knocked it entirely as "brutish, too physical". this is just my approach; i think that nearly any sport could be substantial in its own right to different people
