That was nothing short of a completely awesome and epic show of patriotism to a beautiful song. Everyone singing together like that... so many people! must be in the tens of thousands. I actually heard this song first performed by British prog rock band Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. I love everything about this; lyrics, melody, message.... I wish I could watch it performed by Parry back in the nineteen-teens.
who cares about nationality here. its a song, not a history debate. enjoy the music, wehther you're from Britain or not, and learn to enjoy and respect other cultures. It's rare to see so many people united joyfully these days, especially singing a classic like this

By the by, Britain had by far the strongest influence on the US and even around the 1850s, the only writers chosen for the American Renaissance were white, male, of Anglo-Saxon origin and protestant, what does that tell you?

We are good quite good at community singing in Britain. The only American group who come equal to it is the MORMON TABERNACLE CHOIR!
