People who are optimistic and believe in the process of being healed and taking proper care of themselves are more likely to do better on whatever medical treatment they receive, still others who have a lot of stress and negative thoughts and emotions will tend to fare worse regardless of what the doctors do. So I think even an atheist can see frame of mind makes a difference.
