All the women before me were all midwives. I plan to become an OBGYN and travle back to my mothers country to help my fellow haitians. I'm only 16. This is my ultimate goal. Thankyou for this video. Just adds motivation for me.

Wonderful video about a serious problem in a part of the world largely ignored. 1200 university trained midwives are needed in Haiti and there are only about 150. The university cannot turn them out fast enough. Midwives for Haiti is trying to provide more skilled birth attendants by training auxilliares for 9 months at St. Therese Hospital in Hinche. Our third class of 12 students began in Nov 2009. They are being trained by 2 Haitian midwives and volunteer midwives from the US.
