Considering the fact that the USSR was a member of the Axis up till June 22, 1941, I'd say Stalin allowed the greatest catastrophe to befall the Russian people since the forced famines in Ukraine, upper Caucuses, and Kazakhstan, and the all out assault on the common comrade in the Great Purge. If single human life has value it could be extrapolated from this that the loss of life in numerical terms, may then be measured. Accounting for deaths attributable to Stalin, both pre and post war, numbers would show that the death total under Joe was millions more than under Adolph. An agreement that helped all the other Axis members greatly, Japan was not a threat to SU. Considering the fact that the USSR was a member of the Axis up till June 22, 1941, I'd say Stalin allowed the greatest catastrophe to befall the Russian people since the forced famines in Ukraine, upper Caucuses, and Kazakhstan, and the all out assault on the common comrade in the Great Purge. The result of WWII for 1/2 of Europe was to exchange 1 dictator for another followed by a complete demoralization of the enslaved millions. Rewrite it if it's distasteful, but this doesn't change the facts

I don/t blame Stalin to the extent that you do; he really did try to make "common cause" with Great Britain, France and Czechoslovakia; the Czechs were willing but the real lynchpin in this, the UK, turned its back on Stalin because it would have given the British Left even more of a platform and justification in running the affairs of the UK and the Conservatives wanted none of this.
Stalin then had no choice but to negotiate instead with Hitler.

Hitler was arrogant enough to play with Spains war but he used it as an excuse to counter Stalins ongoing meddling in the Continent. The Potsdam Conf. had to take a recess while Churchill had to go back to the UK to campaign and wait out the election; Stalin couldn't get over it, of course.
Fortunately, Churchill had the good sense to have brought all the "opposite numbers" of the Labor Party with him to Potsdam in the event of this happening; Churchill did have great vision.

@chlyb42 Not the way I hear it. Soviet pilots manned most air missions over Korea, especially near the end. Check out Secrets of War and Messengers from Moscow, both with data garnered from the Soviet Archives. US pilots looked Caucasian opponents eye to eye in the cockpits, don't think they were Westerners. Stalin was pragmatic; all for world domination. Early on he preached communism in 1 country but results indicate not so. Besides,the Comintern was global in its inception under SU umbrella.

If single human life has value it could be extrapolated from this that the loss of life in numerical terms, may then be measured. Accounting for deaths attributable to Stalin, both pre and post war, numbers would show that the death total under Joe was millions more than under Adolph. Not to give Hitler a break, but individual lives do matter. Telling though that the war in the East was socialism v socialism.

Also, the Nazi regime was in power only 12 years and really didn't start killing, en masse, (exclusive of wartime combat) as a genuine policy until January of 1942.
Stalin was in office longer, started killing earlier and kept killing up to his own death.

@pskovityanin You are correct, officially and historically they were not a part of the Axis. By not signing a mutual agreement with all of the other members this left only a German agreement. An agreement that helped all the other Axis members greatly, Japan was not a threat to SU. Instead, SU fed the Nazi warmachine with fuels,food,minerals,military installations,and the mutual portioning of Europe.After SU eliminated Nazis they went on to keep their spoils of war;1/2 Germany all E.Europe.

Having an alliance with the Czechs did not necessarily mean the same thing; there was no real way that Soviet agents could have been involved in destabilizing Czechoslovakia at the time; there was no Civil war and the Czech government was quite stable.
