  • Lold at moron twat

  • Funny but the music is annoying!

  • The beginning of this song was a dead give away this guy was British! Lol

  • first time i heard it i thought he said "dust bin, lunch can" lol

  • If its 'English' than why is there a Great Britain flag there? Jesus.

  • @xiBeGamer hahahahaha!!

  • Now I know never to ask a guy to spank my fanny in England hahahaha.

  • I whistled this all day :D

  • Loool..Oh man that was funny! I finally got to travel abroad, now I have UK buddies I met while traveling.I find our different terms, stemming from the same basic language which of course began in America delightful.

  • The picture of the freeway... It's near my apartment...<.<

  • @prettycolors2 So, the picture of the motorway is near your flat :P

  • catchy song!

  • lol

  • This was an interesting lesson. After this, I had the urge to (and did for a bit) give my online friends English/American to Kiwi lessons (I'm from New Zealand, where some of the words are the same as in this vid, and some are different, e.g. pavement/sidewalk=footpath xD)

  • I was thinking WTH as soon as i clicked this... but still wanted to watch in a creepy way 0-o

  • moron is actually a greek word. Fact of the day...

  • @Greenhelm64

Almost all words are either Ancient Greek or Latin, or at least have Greek or Latin roots. derp.

  • @MediocreCinema i know, derp, im just saying its an entirely greek word

  • Wow, I just found out this was Mike J from That Guy With The Glasses... should have made the connection sooner

  • Well, even in the states we have different terms for different things from state to state. when i moved from Ct to upstate NY, i called a local restaurant to order a ham grinder. The waitress told me i would have to go to a hardware store to get a meat grinder!!! A grinder is another word for Submarine sandwich, which is what they are called in NY!! Ive also been told by NYers, that i have an accent! I am of straight english descent, so maybe thats why! This was so funny!

  • I need to practice my British accent because of a movie ... Im playing a little english princess :D

  • A moron a twat- brilliant pictures

  • This is so gay in the most funny way... :-)

  • Yeah, and sometimes he does American first... so this is stupid.

  • american is selfish idiotic morons! britts are the good once!

  • @espranta How can you call us morons when your English is absolutely horrible?

  • @stnaP2the3

Well his thing says he is from Norway, so you can't blame him for supporting his fellow European.

I DO wish Europeans learning English would learn that "Brit" only has one T in it.

  • @IAmCaptainMarvel Oh wow, I had no idea Europeans were THAT close. Tell me more!

  • @stnaP2the3

Heh, to be honest I personally don't feel amazingly close to other Europeans. I think Europe views Britain, and particularly England as the black sheep of Europe. Even the rest of the UK views England differently then others.

I think it's due to our work with colonising territory overseas, but even before that, England is such a strange mixture of Nordic, Celtish, French, German and Latin that we don't really fit in anywhere.

  • @IAmCaptainMarvel I'm sorry to hear about that. Sounds very depressing the way you put it.

I was just saying to the other guy that maybe he should think twice (or at least grammar/spell check) before trying to post ANY comment. I love the irony there.

  • @stnaP2the3

Oh yeah, I agree. It's Muphry's law though, isn't it? (Can't post the link but it's on Wikipedia).

  • Keep in mind many terms are used in both places but just mean different things (such as "fanny"). We say "garden" but not to refer to a whole yard. We actually have marmalade, jam, preserves and jelly, all different in the U.S. What the Brits call "jelly" is what we call "Jell-O".

  • @SWLinPHX Americans differentiate "vacation" as a trip or time off work and reserve "holiday" for a special day or time of year.

  • I love this!

  • @TheJasonDR What

  • Wait, "fanny" means "vagina" overseas? No way! That makes that word even more fun!

  • @Toan133 lol, yeah when I was younger I was shocked when I heard an American call a "bumbag" (or thats what I call a bag that straps round your waist so im assuming thats what the rest of the UK says) a "fannypack", I thought they were being really rude X)

  • im english i dont think anyone says vacation

  • @HappyWoWer He was saying that was the American word. Here (US) nobody says Holiday. haha.

  • Lol this is.... Just...wow... As an American I approve! XD do canadan citizens have different words to things like American and English?

  • @kitlinausa; They're sorta in between.

  • I use bits of both, but most people call the Glasgow Underground the Subway.

  • I wish we could just amalgamate all the variants of English, but that would be impossible...

  • Never get tired of this song. Ever. I even wrote the refrain's lyrics on my English grammarbook's cover. Oddly enough my English teacher never questioned it, at all XD

  • Pots and pans are two different things... as are jam and jelly. o3o

  • I don't care where you learned English, our IQ all went down by a point.

  • Canadians always feel awkward when listening to this song....

  • @theabsoluteniche I know eh, I recognize both words and am not sure which words are from which country.

  • @theabsoluteniche THERE'S NO CANADA LIKE FRENCH CANADA ITS THE BEST CANADA IN THE LAND

  • lift and elevator.

    boot and trunk.

  • what even is that dance? like seriously, just stop.

  • I speak American.. The freedom language. TROLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • @bludevl3 "American" is English my friend. "Trololololololololol"

  • @bludevl3 dumb ass

  • @bludevl3

    *going to censured Bludevl3*

  • @bludevl3 Shut the fuck up.

  • EU>US

  • i have put this song on repeat for the past hour... it is so fucking jokes!!! (hilarious)

  • love the picture for moron hahaha

  • how does this not have millions of views?

  • holiday vacation one was the wrong way around...

  • Most of those words I knew... Then again, I'm Canadian. I don't speak British English or American English. I'm proud to say I speak Amerish English.

  • I want the lyrics :I .

  • Hetalia fans are having fangasums

  • the world would be boring if we were all the same! i like cultures...

  • That's totally wrong, that "English" flag your showing is In fact a british flag ignorant prick, how are Americans ever going to learn the difference between british and English when people like you make videos like this? poor show

  • Hmmm...in America there is both jam and jelly. They are similar foods but there is a subtle difference between them.

  • Wait, does MikeJ really think that "jam" is just British for "jelly"? Or that "jelly" is American for "jam", as it were?

  • A moron...A twat....I spat my drink out with laughter :D

  • Did you update the video...? I had it saved for months, when i went here to watch again some stuff was added.

  • Oddly catchy.

  • I'm an American and i think that if i can understand you then i don't care but good video

  • The best bit is at 0:58 :D

  • Comment removed

  • This. Is. Awesome!

  • lol 0:58 seconds i pissed my self laughing i feel of my chair ha

  • i find the crudeness quite charming

  • It is interesting to not that many "Americanisms" are in fact Britishisms from the 1700s. It is also believed that an accent close to the modern day "Virginia Tidewater Accent" was how English was spoken on both sides of the pond in the 18th Century.

So if you want to hear what King George III sounded like, go to Virginia.

  • We use the word vacation more than holiday.

  • @ExclusiveBrad Yes, that is what the video told me.

  • In America, the English language is constantly changing while in Britain still remains the same.

I must dare to say that many Brits are using a lot of American terms like "movie" for example.

  • @nostalgiamelancolia1 We use the word film

  • For most of these, I use both. Huh.

  • Nice idea but the title is English to American and in some of your pairings, the American word is 1st, depending on the rhyme!! If you really want language learners to learn the words, put them on the screen with the right flag in the background, as this stands, it doesnt teach students anything!

  • @heathershortland1 It's not meant to be a teaching aid you know. Americans will know which word is theirs and so will the English, and since this is aimed at Americans and the English, thats all that matters

  • LOL

  • Why do you posters have to be so fucking negative? Get a life you twats. Nice video btw!!

  • @oliverwhinnett uneducated folks, you know.the other day I posted a comment on a youtube video about British singer Rick Astley by saying that he's got a really good English accent, and an idiot, uneducated individual replied to my comment saying this;"he is English, you foggot".I do know Rick is English and that's why I said he has a really good English accent.See how idiot and uneducated that individual was? you will find a lot of that crap here on youtube, but guess what? Pay no attention to them

  • @nostalgiamelancolia1 Can I just ask a stupid question then. If you knew he was English, why would you say that he has a good English accent? Being realistic, the only time you say that phrase (or rather, some form of that phrase) is when you know someone is from one country and is speaking the accent of the other.

  • @wildste The fact that English people speak English does necessarily mean they all speak with a good English accent.there are good and bad English accent among the people of England, and some speak with a good or better accent than others regardless they're all English.

  • @nostalgiamelancolia1 The thing is though (never thought to say this in my previous comment), there is no such thing as an English accent. Just as American has multiple accents, so does England. What Americans think of as an English accent (called the Queens English), less then 1% of the country speaks, and of that percentage, most are putting it on and they don't really talk like that.

  • What the hell did I just watch???????

  • why have the BRITISH flag when your talking about the ENGLISH

  • @ranbrent Because its not called the British language.

  • @tingmj13 Then have the english flag...thats my point....as far as this video goes he's talking about England,Scotland,Wales and N.ireland

  • his arms must be tired :P

  • At the end of the day U.K. english is the correct english

  • @LLOYD19851012 Well that depends on your definition of English. The language evolved from Anglo Saxon 1000 years ago and they would have thought that their English was the correct English, and they were here before us :P

  • @wildste 1000 years ago they spoke latin

  • @LLOYD19851012 No, the clergy spoke Latin and the pheasants occasionally spoken Latin in Mass. There was still a form of English around. Even in Roman times (where is started), not everyone spoke Latin.

  • @LLOYD19851012

    Maybe but it sounds odd

  • @LLOYD19851012 They're both correct, stupid.

  • @SixOutOfAHundred *Puts hand in head*

  • @LLOYD19851012

American English and U.K. English are both correct in their respected countries. Much like Latin American Spanish is a little bit different than Spaniard Spanish.

  • @LLOYD19851012 More like the traditional english.

  • @LLOYD19851012 Really? Because if that's the case I would have expected you to capitalize the word "English"... o.o

  • @LLOYD19851012 Because it's the only English, the other one is known as American.

  • @TheFlammableGas Your penis must be microscopic.

  • @Graynumber Umad?

Aww, are you butthurt kid? Don't worry, my penis isn't, thanks for caring though, you must often care for the penises of others. Well keep up the good work.

  • @TheFlammableGas Yes, I really do. It's the only justification I can ever think of as to why people care about things like these.

  • @Graynumber Mkay.

  • @LLOYD19851012 And then at night American English once again becomes the correct English. Color.

  • @lorenzothomsen colour

  • BRILLIANT!

  • a moron

    a twat :D

  • haha.. hilarious

  • Why the fuck do I keep coming back to this?

  • And Canada is stuck in the middle.

  • You forgot to point out to Americans that England and Britain aren't the same thing.

  • @dimsimlord

He also forgot to point out to Limeys that inbreeding is not a good thing. Apparently they need to be told, as they view it as necessary to keep the family line pure.

  • @youbetterbelievehah

Interesting stance given the huge English-descended American population.

  • @dimsimlord

Huge? It's actually pretty small. Oh how I love the ignorance of you people! Your "facts" about my country seem to be some self-supporting idiocy to boost your low self-esteem.

"Well, they're successful; therefore they must be of English descent."

Actually, we're mostly of German descent, and like Germans, Americans invent, invent and invent. That's why we're successful.

  • @youbetterbelievehah

Yes, a tiny English population, which explains why you were a British colony.

  • @dimsimlord

Wow, your poor educational system needs to better teach world history. Yes, at one point we were a British colony. Well, 13 colonies. Many different European peoples came here, and lived in those colonies. After defeating the British, and Uniting those colonies, and progressing as a nation, many, many people from Europe began immigrating here. A very large percent came from Germany, Italy and Ireland. The English make up a small percent, and I'm very glad about that.

    =)

  • @youbetterbelievehah

Oh ok, so defeating the English automatically eradicated every single person of English ancestry in the country. By the way, 10 generations ago 2056 people went into your genetic input, Limey.

  • @d

I see logic is a concept you will never grasp. Well, you're inbred, so I suppose some things will be far too complex for you to comprehend, regardless of how simple they may be. Do me a favor, look up statistics, as that's the easiest way for a fool like you to understand this. Our largest population is ethnically German, which is why we're so innovative, and have produced so much. Ethnically English trash make up a tiny portion of our society, and like your country, they contribute little.

  • @youbetterbelievehah lmao you sad pathetic person if it wasnt for us English then America would not be what it would today then the likes of you german trash and all of the rest of them go over when all the hard work is done and for your information look up on your history you can only call yourself American if your of English heritage because we came up with the term and also we made the American flag and The English colonists started the American Revoloution and there are way more English

  • @dimsimlord

I see you also have a problem comprehending what immigration means, so you may want to look into that as well. Our population did not spawn from a small handful of people. I am third generation American myself, and my German grandparents are still alive and well.

  • @youbetterbelievehah

Actually, that's quite a silly thing to say, seeing as there are numerous British republicans and socialists, anarchists etc who would like really rather like the queen to go, along with the royal family's strange ways. Just like other monarchist nations,we pretty much all live normal, happy lives that are generally unaffected by the queen or her family's odd habits, and that includes in-breeding. I don't know why you're so intolerant of the English, it's quite pronounced.

  • Wrong flag in the background

  • Huh some uk friends I personally knoww say tv instead of tele lol

  • This is just amazing

  • Thumbs up if Ashens brought you here !!!!

  • you deserve a nobel prize!!

  • I love how he shows a picture of bush shows up when he says moron

  • 0:55 lol

  • I would have shown it to my students if not for the funny part.

  • This man makes the World a better place.

  • If jam is jelly...

    IS GELATIN UNIVERSAL???

  • @nisbahmumtaz909 Gelatin is a product derived from colagen gathered from connective tissues within animal carcas'. Gelatin is used to make jelly. In America i think you just call jelly gelatin. Jam is a fruit based product made by cooking fruits with sugar and is eaten on toast or scones.

  • @thatguywiththeegg

    Oh. Intelligent response, there.

  • @nisbahmumtaz909 Why thank you my good man.

  • What now, Rosetta Stone?

  • so much better than rick roll

  • lmao

  • MURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIKA

  • this just killed 69% of my brain..

  • @303Kenntnis That's a good one he could have used. The two meanings vary greatly between the two countries. Like the fanny meaning bum and vagina thing. Spunk means energy in America but semen in Britain.

  • Loved that one of the pics of fanny was Pippa Middletons arse from the royal wedding XD

  • Face=Slappy beef

    Gun=Rooty Tooty point and Shooty

  • im english i i say american and english things everyday, i say the telly not tv

  • He forgot that in England a flashlight is called a torch.

  • @TheRigster1138 Prolly couldn't rhyme it

  • @TheRigster1138 its called britain actually, dont refer to UK or britain as England, because its not the same

  • @AtomicCheese92 My bad. I always get them mixed up.

  • @AtomicCheese92

Yes, England is a country in Britain. There are at least 3 other countries in the UK, if not 5.

  • @MarvellousMuffin theres 4 countrys in GB but he said england call flashlights torches, the whole UK says that

  • @AtomicCheese92

    4 countries officially, 2 unofficially.

  • @MarvellousMuffin what are the unofficial ones?

  • @AtomicCheese92

You could count Cornwall and the Isle of Man.

  • @MarvellousMuffin the FALKLAND, na they gay

  • @AtomicCheese92

Falklands as well. There's a lot more if you count all the other overseas territories.

  • @AtomicCheese92

Yes. It would make more sense if he wasn't standing in front of a Union Jack, rather a St. George's cross. That would be relevant to England.

  • @MarvellousMuffin Is it that hard to do a google search and not look like a complete idiot?

  • Comment removed

  • @PeanutKai

I'll admit though two of the five countries depend on whether or not you consider an island with a distinct heritage a country. In that case you could add many. There's at least a good 4 other countries in the UK besides England.

  • @MarvellousMuffin England, Scotland, Wales are Britain. Add northen ireland for the UK. There now you don't have to be so stupid.
