So you guys are really angered that lonelygirl15 is fake huh? Seriously how do you guys define REAL?? So if you were in the afterlife and you found out how fake your existence was, are you gonna complain then? We edit ourselves constantly in writing, films, and our own personal mistakes in life so lets get over it and just live. :)
I guess you've looked into "Culture and Authenticity" by Charles Lindholm. Not only is the idea of authenticity a historical construction, it is no more then an experience. A painting with Picasso's signature feels authentic, but really it's still only oil on canvas. Same thing with vloggers, it doesn't matter if it is real, as long as it feels authentic. The important part is how it is recieved, not how it is transmitted.
Doing a good video is the most important thing. All else are secondary.
A good video is a work of art. I would even do propaganda videos of myself to re-educate you all if I think I can do very funny, meaningful, interesting and or simply narcissistic ones AND THAT they are all artistic as well.
The question is actualy universal: what is real and what is a pretense. How well Do we know ourselves to allways be able to say, how real and sincere our communications with other people are...?
Yes, I am glad you left a comment on this page; it is hard for folk to accept that everyone has an inauthentic and authentic self, and to understand the function of each.
hah at first i thought you were trying to be sassy! i only used her because she was a good example, it wasnt intended ot be all lonelygirl all the time....just a big example that most tubers are familiar with in regards to acting
Oh, we understand that and you did a wonderful job. Any how, I think there's a big question in there. Should Youtube be policed, to keep "commercial ventures" out. Maybe you should do a video on that, fielding that question and getting peoples response. Maybe can be incorporated in your school project?
LonelyGirl15 is fake? What? That's what you say, if you're a retard. After 2 or 3 videos, you start to completely doubt them. And she starts talking about "being prepped" for the ceremony and crap. It was either super fake or she was being prepped to be the leader of a devil cult or witch covenant.
Being a card magician. This is kind of like the difference between myself walking up to someone to show them a trick, as opposed to attempting to fix the deck in my favor during a game of poker. Well done.
Does it matter whether someone is real or fake? Yes. Why does it matter? Because a fake is knowingly manipulating other people i.e. treating them and their feelings as means to their own ends (e.g. getting famous, eventually making money) rather than treating them as ends in themselves.
Of course kokiriforest, but that's different: we know that actors are not real characters, even if WE ALLOW OURSELVES to believe it for the duration of the film or play. Here people are taking advantage of our native credulity to produce reactions in us against without our informed consent in order to further their own interests - fame, money etc. I object to Ali G's interviews for the same reason.
Too bad most of us live in bad faith and don't even know who our authentic selves are.

What is honesty? Sometimes a work of fiction is more "honest" than real life.

It all comes down to the age old question about indentiy: Who am I?

Among others, Virginia Woolf wrote about this.

I like being fooled, as long as it's entertaining with a bit of drama!! Call it a long-term, creative prank!
