  • Wasn't that STi "stage " 4 ??? Plus Evo was bone stock. Intake ,exhaust,3port and good tune Evo would win.

  • Love the STI but the Evo will always be faster. Trans is not glass as others indicate as they have improved it from previous designs and made stronger. The clutch is weak but put in a new one; also, a new clutch sure costs less than a new engine in the STI because of the ringlands cracking or after spinning a bearing.

  • @na7m88 you clearly dont own either car. i have an evo x and my older brother has an 09 wrx. stock v stock off the line whoever reacts first wins, stock v stock from a roll whoever reacts first wins. stage 1 vs stage 1 the evo edges out the wrx by half a car every time from 40 mph to top speed. i have done this race many times. when bolt ons are added the evo x absolutely obliterates any subbie with the same mods.

  • @na7m88 the evo x is a bit over priced, i agree. but its handling is far superior to the wrx. the engine is also far superior and is much much tougher. the brembo brakes are much better. the evo x engien can take ~ 500 ish whp on stock internals. the wrx, around 350-400

  • @na7m88 evo is not built for straight line put the gay ass wrx in twisty roads and see that this shit cannot keep up in the evo..... evo is a rally beast not a gay ass american car all the matters in a 1/4 mile which is BS..

  • @oathweilder ya... not a fair race worth bragging about. The subby guy is stage 2+ with the aftermarket TMIC. Stage 3 if he has a new turbo, w/ injectors and Fp + tune (any bolt on needs a tune). I own a 2009 wrx.

  • the STI and Evolution used to be pretty evenly mathced. i would say with the introduction of an automatic evo, subaru is now light years ahead. the Evolution has become more of a street car and has lost a lot of its rally heritage. while the STI has been refined also, it still holds true to its balls to the wall punch you in the face performance.

  • i like my evo 8. new sti's are garbage on the track... too much understeer. offroad is where the sti shines. but street and track is where evo's take over. and yes.. mod for mod evo makes more power. if i were a rally guy i'd probably choose the sti over the evo. but for everyday and track. i'd take the evo.

    06 EJ257+Bugeye=win

    Don't get me wrong the 4G63 is an awesome engine, definately the best 2.0 made no doubt, but the aftermarket has been behind it for years. EJ motors are starting to make some serious power.

  • The weak EJ205 will hold well more than 300whp. I think the record is 480 something for a stock block/head/cam EJ205 actually. No, it didn't last, but it should hold fine around 350ish with a good tune. Mine held 303/300 easily.

  • The EVO IX just as every other EVO that I can think of came with a 16G. The EVO IX's turbo flow's 18g numbers and I assume Mitsu is still using them, or something close to it. How else do you think EVO guys make 400whp on the stocker!

  • not sure about the 18g flow claim, but it is a twin scroll turbo which might explain what you're describing. evo x's on the 4b11 do in fact run a 15g.

  • I didn't realize that Mitsu downsized the turbo from the IX to X. I would post flow charts of the Evo's big 16G but that's getting a little ridiculous.
