thr r a a lot of Phil words that also being used by malay languange: langit(sky),ikaw/engkau(you), ako/aku(I,me),bato/batu(rock),tae/tahi(shit),anak(child),bayad/bayar(pay),pili/pilih(pick),kidlat/kilat(flash),buwan/bulan(month),hangin/angin(wind),bili/beli(buy),basa/baca(read) and many more...although i can speak for both language as my mother is from Phil and my father is Malaysian, i admit that tagalog is harder than malay.in malay, there are no present/past/future tense like tagalog does
Could someone kindly translate this for me... Xde sape bleh paham...kite je yg tau coz kite yg laluinye...kite xleh tipu diri kite sendiri...kena tabahkan hati
@blueandrewblue Translation: No can understand. We are the only ones who knows because we went through it. We can't lie to ourselves. Have to make peace with our hearts.
@theloganloganlogan The words are not jumbled up. You have to understand that in the learning of languages you can't translate things "words by words" . In Malay language for a start, to state a person owning something, you will place the "object" before the owner to indicate possession. See example.
Example: Sam's Car (English) Kereta Sam (Malay)
It is not a mistake (there can be exceptions though), and again, bear in mind all languages have their unique patterns. :)
Dear Friend; You can't simply translate malay words to english words, the same thing also goes to english to malay. For example; Hari Ini = Today. Apa nama anda= What's your name. Actually it is so easy because Bahasa Melayu does not contain so many words compared to English. But there's such a problem where the user should reverse the words when try to translate it to english. Anyway i'm proud of you.
maaf. rasanya litmibimi tertinggal 'kita = us'. saya rasa penting jugak tu sebab selalu dgr org yg belajar bahasa melayu, termasuk jugak org melayu yg tersilap penggunaan kita dengan kami.
@2008amiame Video ini hanya bagi mereka yang ingin berjinak-jinak dan tidak merupakan video intensif . Saya cuma ingin memperkenalkan Bahasa Melayu ke pentas dunia dengan cara yang ringkas. Walau bagaimana pun saya amat menghargai pendapat awak. Mungkin dikesempatan lain saya akan turutkan maklumat ini di dalam video saya yang akan datang . Terima Kasih . :)
salamat.. ( thank you ) for posting it.. i really looking forward learning bahasa melayu... kami in tagalog also means we in english.. thanks again =)
@TheMuziekmann yeah in singapore, mainly use in malaysia, indonesia(some phrase different),southern thailand, brunei, southern philipines, papua new guinea and many more..most use language in south east asian..
@TheMuziekmann My pronounciations are Standard Bahasa Melayu. Although, it must be kept in mind that every language has its own colloquial version (spoken version) and not to undermind the "slangs" or "jargons" that varies from regions to places.
Here in Philippines, we use kami as we in different manner. It means "My friends and I" or "me and them". The right word for us here is "Tayo". Filipinos used kita as "by me for you" like "mahal kita": I love you
Nice to hear. Some of the words spoken are very much alike to our language, I'm Filipino and we use "Kami" for we, and "siya" which is sort of alike with the "dia".
@willzurmacht Interesting. I wonder where we get words like "ako". I guess figuring out the origin of that word will shed some light into our ethnic make up.
@ZeekBrien I'm just trying to piece together our origins. I'm guessing knowing where our language (tagalog), we'll be able to put together how we came to be.
FYI there are 2 types of "we" in malay, the first one is "kita" (inclusive, means including all listeners), the another one is "kami" (exclusive, not including all listeners). for example if a football captain want to announce that his team will have a match, he will use "kita" when talk among his team members, but use "kami" when talk to news reporters.
lol. its easy to say if you are a native speaker.

Hari ini=day this(This day/today), shouldn't it be: ini hari=this day??
another example: Apa nama anda?=what's name your? (What's your name?)
Why are the word jumbled up? Shouldn't it be Apa anda nama?
Is there some kinda rule?
