I'm not convinced Jack is "better than this." The very first video of his that I watched struck me as thoughtful and open: he was soliciting points of view from atheists and seemed sincere. But from that day to this, I have never heard Jack fairly represent an atheist's point of view. He even has had the temerity to profess to speak as an atheist while presenting ideas so ridiculous as to make any superstitious belief a plausible alternative. He is completely blinkered.
I think if Jack was not a critical thinker, he would not have survived this long with what I have no reason not to believe is a successful life.
His religious belief seems to be a matter of choice; and, you don't expressly need a reason to choose something...or even be aware of what your reason is.
I am sure you choose things that based on so-called critical thinking, don't make sense.
I observe that religious people ARE critical thinkers, who choose to worship a god.
..I also observe that Atheists fail to think critically on many occasions. This entire crusade to convince the believer is one example of not thinking critically. Atheists choose to do this, whether it makes sense or not..and whether they know all the factors at play or not.
I find little value in ppl's remarks about my facial expressions or tone. By objective what you mean is..."we have created standards that I agree with." Based upon the link you posted about 'critical thinking' tell me where it indicates that me saying, "there is nothing that will change my mind about God" necessarily entails that I am not a critical thinker regarding this?
His unwillingness to accept that christianity is wrong despite what the evidence says reminds me of william lane craig. Craig pretty much said the same thing.
"The way in which I know christianity to be true is first and foremost through the witness of the power of the holy spirit. And if in some stange circumstance, the evidence I have available to me should turn against christianity, I don't think that merits my deconverting in anyway."

Good to hear your voice again, Ben. Don't think I disagreed with a word you said.
