I give this a low matinee. There were groan worthy jokes,and the lady playing the skanky lady got on my nerves a bit, but otherwise,you're going to be entertained. Especially,the part at the end. I saw this as a dark version of Paul Blart. A guy that may be crazy,but a good overall,and willing to put his life on the line for his job.

this movies great but you have to understand its humor. seth rogen necessarily isnt the best for this type of role, but its still funny if you get the wit and humor of this movie.
The critics seemed like they were expecting a more generic dude-comedy where Paul Rudd is the best friend and our hero learns a life lesson by the end... not a portrait of a Travis Bickle/Harry Callahan type.
This movie is either a complete hit with you or a complete miss...no grey area in between anywhere to be found. I loved it, and was disturbed by it the first time I saw it....but it's one of those movies you find yourself quoting the hell out of the very next day. I completely dissagree, I thought this movie was funny and so well made. Its misunderstood because not a lot of people 'get' dark comedy and this is just about as dark as it gets. Audiences don't know how to react when a main character does bad things, so often laughing wont be their first instict....but hey, that's their problem.

I had no idea this movie was going to be as "dark" as it was - I plan to BUY it. The soundtrack is AMAZING.
The prescription medications plot twist makes the movie MORE original and "Ronnie"'s delusions (and therefore his character and the movie) even more plausible.

I'm actually with spill on here...there was none of that intellectual comedy I've seen in Rogen's other movies. Most of the movie contains high-school insults that I've heard over and over before, and the strategy for this movie became "swearing for laughs" which is getting tedious. there are some good lines here and there ("I have a brown dick you dumb mother fucker!") however there's nothing that really made me laugh hard other than the montage near two-thirds mark and the end.
I loved this movie. I blind bought it on blu-ray and watched it the other night for the first time and I absolutely loved it. It was hilarious and it was nice to see seth rogen play something new. A great dark comedy.

They probably hate almost all independent or anything remotely outside the box. Disturbed of a fictional characters actions... seriously there are boundaries between watching a movie and pretending to be apart of its world. Just because you can't imagine hanging out with the character, which it appears you do, doesn't mean the movie is bad. Its just means you might be lonely or going crazy you self.
This movie was better than the other Mall cop one, but you have to let go of reality to really watch it. Like beating up the skate board kids, that was funny because is was surreal.

This is one of the only reviews I've ever disagreed with on spill, I thought this movie was thoroughly funny and acting and directing were on point for what I believe they were trying to achieve. Which was basically a comedy taxi driver in a mall.
I personally did enjoy this movie. It was meant to be a dramatic comedy, during an interview Seth and the director said it was meant to be a funny Martin Scorcese film. It could have done without the five minutes of fat guy dick at the end, but I thought it was different. Besides, Micheal Pena doing this whole Mike Tyson thing was hilarious. I would give it a high matinee.

I completely dissagree, I thought this movie was funny and so well made. Its misunderstood because not a lot of people 'get' dark comedy and this is just about as dark as it gets. Audiences don't know how to react when a main character does bad things, so often laughing wont be their first instict....but hey, that's their problem.

Did you find the rape scene funny? Did you find the scene funny where you find out he is on medication and he has stopped taking it leading to mental lapses? Dark comedy that is good is a film like Throw Mamma From The Train which is ten times better than this movie.

@Kimbahley This is as dark as it gets??? You mean it's darker than oh, say...Dr Strangelove where they satire the destruction of the planet? I wouldn't call this a dark comedy at all. MTV gross-out style gags, date rape, a fat, ugly man fully naked, doing drugs and fighting and he's a mall cop. I'd call that ironic, not satirical. I suppose they're trying to joke about mental illness but they failed.

I watched this movie not expecting too much, but I ended up laughing constantly throughout the film. Btw, the reviewers seem to miss the point of the film... it is black humor... i.e. "a kind of drama (or, by extension, a non‐dramatic work) in which disturbing or sinister subjects like death, disease, or warfare, are treated with bitter amusement, usually in a manner calculated to offend and shock."

This is the first of your reviews I've watched.
I had no idea this movie was going to be as "dark" as it was - I plan to BUY it. The soundtrack is AMAZING.
The prescription medications plot twist makes the movie MORE original and "Ronnie"'s delusions (and therefore his character and the movie) even more plausible.
This movie, Watchmen, and District Nine are the best movies of the year so far...
Zombieland was good, but a letdown in my book. I am anxious to see how you two rate these movies.

i... loved this movie.
its no Taxi Driver, but who cares, thats one of the greatest film of all time.
i thought it was sad, funny and fucked up. but all entertainingly. the final scene was so awesome. and props to Seth, he was fantastic. took guts for him to step out of his lovable slacker shell

Watched it yesterday and I thought it was hilarious. The only thing disapointing in my opinion is the runtime, comon 86 minutes? I'm sure I'm not the only one here who thinks Seth Rogan as a bad ass bipolar security guard deserves a movie of decent length, am I?

I'm actually with spill on here...there was none of that intellectual comedy I've seen in Rogen's other movies. Most of the movie contains high-school insults that I've heard over and over before, and the strategy for this movie became "swearing for laughs" which is getting tedious. there are some good lines here and there ("I have a brown dick you dumb mother fucker!") however there's nothing that really made me laugh hard other than the montage near two-thirds mark and the end.

I loved this movie. I blind bought it on blu-ray and watched it the other night for the first time and I absolutely loved it. It was hilarious and it was nice to see seth rogen play something new. A great dark comedy.

ok so if i make a movie bout people who had a special ability to move things w/ their hands and mind, could jump really high and were warriors, only to die b/c a bad guy who was also like them but became dark & started hunting them down. Oh did i mention that they would have a sword that was made of light and it was called Galaxy Battles.....oh wait, lets make it a romantic comedy. I think The Hangover is much funnier than this movie. If Seth Rogen can make good comedy films such as Superbad, The Pineapple Express also Funny Movie. This movie lost it's edge.

Spill shouldn't be talking about funny. Their Videos usually aren't really that funny. I'm just a sucker for their Animation. They could all be replaced and I really wouldn't care. It seems as though they were too "disturbed" to pay attention to all the jokes and what was going on. Its a dark comedy and A MOVIE. Its Fiction not reality!
I don't think these guys have enough of a mindset to think for themselves. I bet a slight majority didn't like the movie so they all didn't like it.

They probably hate almost all independent or anything remotely outside the box. Disturbed of a fictional characters actions... seriously there are boundaries between watching a movie and pretending to be apart of its world. Just because you can't imagine hanging out with the character, which it appears you do, doesn't mean the movie is bad. Its just means you might be lonely or going crazy you self.

This movie was better than the other Mall cop one, but you have to let go of reality to really watch it. Like beating up the skate board kids, that was funny because is was surreal.
I though Bruno was more vulgar than OaR and its boring when every crazy person in a movie have to go on or at least try to go on a rampage at the end. so I am glad they didnt do that in this one, but the last "action" scene had a surprise ending lol.

Comedy's have one goal: to make people laugh, and that goal was achieved..........NOTHING ELSE MATTERS. You are seriously going to start debating the legality's of Rogen's character's decisions? Why don't you start discussing physics while you're at it, it's a fucking comedy, get a sense of humor before you review them. I just saw this movie last night and was pleasantly surprised, it's the best comedy I have seen in years. Go watch Soul Plane or something, shit.

This is one of the only reviews I've ever disagreed with on spill, I thought this movie was thoroughly funny and acting and directing were on point for what I believe they were trying to achieve. Which was basically a comedy taxi driver in a mall.
Low full price for me.

I personally did enjoy this movie. It was meant to be a dramatic comedy, during an interview Seth and the director said it was meant to be a funny Martin Scorcese film. It could have done without the five minutes of fat guy dick at the end, but I thought it was different. Besides, Micheal Pena doing this whole Mike Tyson thing was hilarious. I would give it a high matinee.
