  • ofekkt - alheart

  • the sky might be falling but the stars look good on you <3

  • I'm against my government too.

  • BIEN RELAX loco marihuano :)

  • the only way that justice on planet earth is that we humans go extinct. its hard but its true

  • This video is nothing but a series of typical images of political signifiers from the 20th & early 21st Century with a series of musical aphorisms with a lead vocalist who is clearly in need of rudimentary skills in communication. If this is the political platform of a generation, especially during the years of the Bush administration, then I completely understand why Kurt Cobain killed himself. Enjoy your fulfillment. lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

  • @bigdiezel619 "I't's easy to look at the here and now and even the past like that pic of the Vietnam war and say American is evil, but they didn't butcher 6 million Jews."...They sure did a good job taking care of the Native Americans. just sayin. I understand your point though. it is hard to find a country that hasnt done something messed up...well actually, there is one that randomly springs to mind. i dont think Iceland has ever done anything bad...actually there was that whole banking thing.

  • @mahukalamata Not saying anything just was reading comments and.. america didn't move the native indians ._. that was Europe in a joint effort but yeah.. I get your point :3

  • låter så bra, jag älskar denna typ jättebra musik

  • the scale in which it's played out will change. soo place your bet; high or low end

  • War and hatred will exist until human kind is extinct.

  • yo wassup this song is called Svo Hljott just sayin!!!

  • Such an amazing song. Such an amazing atmosphere.

    SUCH AN AMAZING BAND !!!

  • This piece is so delicade and intense at the same time...

  • Sigur Rós - prostě úžasná pohodička ......:-)))

  • As long as people remain stubborn with thier beliefs and justify thier actions based on these beliefes, war will exsist. Only until people set aside thier differences and work towards a common goal will we obtain world peace.. question is.. what goal could we all work towards????

  • War is not human nature, it is our acceptance and tolerance of it that perpetuates it. I am an American and I do not condone any of it,nor do I accept it and openly protest against it. I dedicate this to the late Howard Zinn.

  • This music is bEAUtiful. can't imagine why you'd wanna talk about anything else.

  • this video makes me cry :(

    10/10

    ok.bye bye.♂♂

  • ins't this song called sé lést??

  • This song is beautiful. It is like the 'Song of Humanity'...

We're an amazing species... we've discovered so much, we understand so much of the world around us and yet, we fight amongst ourselves with little regard for life.

I closed my eyes and let images develop while listening to this...

It's simultaneously praiseful of humanity while it decries our brutal side...

Absolutely beautiful piece of artwork. :)

  • @LordMekle it is beautiful

  • bellas melodias!!! GRAN BANDA!!

  • i thought this song was called svo hljott.

  • is this greek?

  • @tronik40117 They are an Icelandic post rock band and they sing in a language the singer "Jonsi" made up called "Hopelandic"

  • @pye333 wow i didnt knew that, it's amazing , thanks (:

  • @tronik40117 not at all, it's from Iceland :)

  • @LuxuryMidinight nice! thanks man :D

  • Sigur Ros no es música, son recuerdos hechos notas, son momentos hechos líquido, que reemplazan la sangre y se escurren con cada latido, alimentando al cuerpo de nostalgia....

Sigur ros is not music, are memories made notes, are moments made liquid, they replace the blood and run through our veins, feeding the body with nostalgy...

  • i just listened to this 12 times

  • Who are all the people that are pictured? Is there a list of their names somewhere?

Saludos .

  • Me encanta Sigur Ros, aun sigo soñando que volveran juntos a México ... <3

  • Oui, l'Islandais est magnifique !

  • L'Islandais .......c'est une jolie langue :3

  • I listen to this song every time i'm sad. . .<3

  • This music is proof that humanity still has a chance to ascend into higher beings...

  • Viva Sigur Ros

  • What does Sorglega mean?

  • @ApertureScienceDBA "Tragic"

  • In Five years when arsenal are winning everything this video will sum up arsenes rise to glory

  • Excellent.

  • Where in the world do these guys come up with this music? They are out on their own plane!

  • I am going to learn Icelandic before I die. : |

  • anyone can tell the lyrics on english??

  • @GuiCoelho295 there are non sometimes... just literally vocal instrumentation.

  • My apologies, you are of course right.

  • i love sigur ros

  • Look at the beautiful world that America and Islam are destroying.

  • @MrMynameismine Agree, but Iceland helped to wreck the banks!

  • @spectrum99122 You can't blame a country with barely half a million people for much.

  • @spectrum99122 You cant really blame a banking crises on a geological location. And if you mean by Iceland the nation then The people of Iceland are no more to blame then the people of any nation who have committed monstrosity of any kind. We do not blame the the people of the UK for everything that happened in there colonies nor do we blame the people of Netherlands for the same.

  • This video is abaut 2 parts..

    first....all the bad!

    two part...all the good people

  • First time hearing this great song

  • what language it is?

  • @weimaranner norweigan

  • @fizikal2008 No. This is Icelandic!

  • @MrMynameismine oh, im sorry, i do apologize! :)

  • @fizikal2008 Don't apologize, MrMynameismine is a racist prick.

  • @weimaranner if it's not Icelandic, it's Hopelandic (made up language, it doesn't mean anything, it's just there to sound cool)

  • Sigur Ros LO MEJOR

  • The anti-United States? Feelings are understood.

  • sorry but what a poorly arranged, uncohesive set of images to play alongside such a perfect song...

  • When I listen to Sigur Rós, I picture the exact opposite of this video.

  • i wanted to be there in the 4:06 minute!!..:'(

  • when i see thees asien ppl, it reminds me of my home iceland, not becosue of there looks, not becouse of there suroundings, but what they are struggeling with on everyday basis, helping ech other, having a comunity around them where they know ech other, aprichating wht they have and do the best they can of it, it brakes my heart to see what they had to endure....

  • its interesting that some wish they could understand the lyrics, and myself can really appreciate not having to understand the language. Its almost like the language region of my brain doesent filter the literal meaning and the part that deals in abstracts like shapes and sounds just takes it all in. Does that make any sense??

  • @daddycubjudah

Exactly, a lot of my friends when they heard Go was in english, they were like "Nice maybe I'll actually 'get' them now, I might like them now". I was just like why do you need lyrics to get the music, not knowing makes it so much more than just words, it's spiritual and direct with no connotations except what it means to you. Part of Sigur Ros' beauty is not knowing, Sigur Ros is a void of unknown emotions. Sigur Ros <3

  • hay imagenes que no debes ser vistas de nuevo... las que usaste en este video, son de aquellas

  • @xavierhdfsur Por que? Para olvidar la maldad de la historia? Tenemos que recordar estas cosas para mantenernos con la paz, no?

  • You cant do harm after hearing sigur ros

  • ...and any harm that was done has since been forgiven, in both others and in yourself

  • Love Sigur Ros, love this video

    5 Stars

    Well done!!!

  • @layo83 It calms you down? Well it's the opposite with me..I get pictures of dying, loathing children and women during war, which make me to cry.. I can't describe the feeling.. You can never put words on feelings though.. Only try.

  • it calms me down,,:)

  • Sigur Ros - sublime as ever...

Imagery - well placed and balanced....

Art - all about context and personal projection....

"Hopelandic" lyrics - a vocal instrument, not an actual language...

Uneducated comments - pointless and out of place...

  • @TheLastBurningTree69

Great insight! I never thought of conceptualizing the vocal aspects of this music as an instrument. Thanks for enriching my perspective on Sigur Ros!

  • @TheLastBurningTree69 This is not Hopelandic. Jonsi actually sings in Icelandic in this song.

    And if we....

    Put lots of full stops....

    everywhere.....

    We will seem realy deep....

  • wish i could undestand the lyrics

    bur how to learn Icelandish

well is it actually called icelandish`?

  • maybe icelandic?

  • Icelandic yeas. google knows everything ;)

sigur rós lyrics .. try that

  • in iceland they speak icelandic. it's similar to norwegian and swedish but not as distinguishable by speakers of those languages. the vocals in most of their music isn't an actual language at all though. it's like "scat" in english music.

  • not entirely true. most of their music does actually include true icelandic. Their album ( ) is an entire album which uses vocals with no language attached (which has been coined Hopelandic). However, the rest of their work uses a majority of icelandic.

  • mon dieu. Sigur Ros faire de la musique tres beau =]

  • Thanks for ruining the music joekaz.

  • Touche, AK. I've been coming off drugs and I'm moody. That said, as much as I love Sigur Ros and those like me, I don't want to have a bunch of visual representations of incredibly deep songs (look up lyrics) put against boring stock visuals.

The band gives us more, we owe them more, Smiling, thanks for feedback - THAT'S always welcome (CAP KEYS NOT LOCKED)- peace and love jk

  • their music is like à flower openning in spring...you can't choose a moment you like, because all the song is a moment, a unity...

these guys are toched by grace!!!

  • take the astronaut and the love you out of there and i think i get it.

  • what a strange choice of imagery.

  • Takes me back to the mountains, and I never even listened to them there.

  • the vid has its moments.. but seems very random lol

  • Wonderful song. Great visuals mentioned by nicobn2. Wonderful Landscapes and fantastic stories are given by Sigur Ros themselves. I also love watching their vids. This one is NOT by Sigur Ros, but it´s also unique.

    Thank you!

  • JOE K THE DIRECTOR SAYS:

You picked a powerful SR song, but chose some pretty vanilla videos.

I still love all Sigur Ros fans, but where's the connection between the visuals and the song?

Try harder next time. It is an alright start.

    peace

    JKTD

  • Did you just introduce yourself in third person with the capslock on?

If art is subjective and people listen to music for personal reasons, then I don't understand why you think he should try harder. Perhaps this is meaningful to him and not bland.

  • I have always loved Sigur Ros. I thin a part of that is because "fans" can't argue what their songs mean because they sing whatever they want. As with all band I like, the song means what I want it to mean,

  • Feelings through music without pretting attention to lyrics is more powerful ^_^ This afternoon, I was walking , and a rain storm began... i closed my eyes, thought about this music, and appreciate the moment...

Long life to sigur ros !

  • The official term is "absolute" music. Just fyi :)

Its a beautiful thing and takes a keen and educated person to really enjoy and understand the true brilliance of music for the sake of music.

  • I'm quite certain it means "Victory Rose". It is the name of the singer's sister.

    John (Sweden)

  • just wondering what sigur rós is in english, i cant find a good icelandic translator online ¦ ) i think that sigur means win maybe?

  • it means victory rose i think! its cute

  • Yes, but it's bad spelled..It should be Sigurrós, but the band just change it for Sigur Rós, so it's gramatically wrong in icelandic.

  • the language they sing is icelandic?

  • in their last album, sometimes, and english too but in the others before it was just gibberish with no meaning with was very cool, very cocteau twins

  • yep

  • Actually they invented their own language that they use in songs. Kind of a mix of Icelandic and Gibberish

  • the "gibberish" is called Hopelandic (Vonlenska), and is only used in a few songs actually...most of their music is in Icelandic.

  • I know it seems late and possibly dumb to ask after this video was released so long ago, but what is the significance of the people featured in the videos? (personally)

  • probably a philosopher there are pictures of existentialist (kierkegaard and camus) and nietzcsh and some others as well most defenetly an american (the m l k pic) and it has a memmorial for the 9 11 (released six years exactly) events so theres my guess

  • i meant Svo Hjlótt and song not sonf... sorry i wrote that so fastly

  • Actually, both names are used. That causes some confusion...

  • i did not know that, but they have names for the "untitled" album(s) dont they, and i am pissed off coz i ove this song and itunes would not get it off the cd and you cannot buy it on its own :(

  • So buy the CD pr1ck

  • i have the CD fuckface :D the sond wont rip off, all the others will

  • That girl is a woman now and she got burnt when the americans drop napalm in vietnam war.she had been at a Tv show in germany and they still have to take care of her skin.she knows how to fight and she has still to take a lot of pain.

  • honestly that is the 10th sonf of Takk album and it is called Svo Hljótt what actually means So Quiet :)

  • isn't this song called Svo Hjlótt? That's how I know it at least... Incredible song whatever the title though.

  • Nice song (of course) - but I can't find it on my Takk... album.

  • I'd like to know who are the people present in the vid. good job btw

  • In order:

Albert Camus, Søren Kierkegaard, Émile Durkheim, Gilles Lipovetsky, MLK, Friedrich Nietzsche, André Malraux, Noam Chomsky and Albert Einstein.

  • thank you. Pictures totally work with this amazing song. very good job ;)

  • impressive

  • great vid! But your channel icon is a little bit too rough

  • I wonder what it must be like to be bombed by American Napalm. We should ask this little girl.

  • Reply to nicobn2: You can, actually. She survived her burns, became a physician, and eventually emigrated to Canada where she lives today. She is the subject of a book, "The Girl in the Picture"

  • @nicobn2 (cont.) The napalm was dropped by South Vietnamese Air Force tactical bombers guided onto the village by a U.S. Army forward air controller who had been assured, falsely, by unscrupulous ARVN officers that there were no "friendlies" (civilians) in the target area.

  • Comment removed

  • @nicobn2 As bad as coming home one day to find that the VC skinned your family alive?

  • @nicobn2 It's not American napalm its human nature, you tell me that if the Vietnamese or the Africans or the Mexica's or the Indians or any other country that was the no.1 power that the world would be different?, Human beings will create atrocities no matter what nationality or race, evil just exists, everyone should stop on the anti-American crusade and realise this. By the way I'm not American.

  • @owenstheused I don't know why you imply I'm making a case against America; I was solely reflecting on recent events.

  • @owenstheused We U.S. citizens are no more proud of the things we have been involved in that have hurt the planet but it is a lot like Billy Joel said "We didn't Start the fire" the problem is that like most countries the U.S. reacts instead of planning for the long term affects. Despite having the right to vote we also have little control in making our leaders live up to their promises anymore then any other country. Thanks for an honest effort to see the reality of the situation.

  • @owenstheused We're not against the american people. We're just against their goverment.

  • @pejeno So I guess that means your with the American people or at least the majority.

  • @oshory I guess you didn't get it. Most of the americans are against those measures their goverment take against other countries.

    I am with those americans.

Theire goverment is a mess, but what goverment isn't these days?

Sadly, the difference is that they're a world power and they impose their policies regardless of what other countries think of them.

  • @pejeno I read you loud and clear.

  • @pejeno but as George Carlin said:the politicians of america did not fall from the sky, they did not crawl through from another reality. They came from american families, american schools, were voted by american people...and he was an american comedian.can't argue with that.

  • @pejeno be against the government, but remember every nation has committed atrocities. The English against the Scots, the Germans against the Jews, the Chinese against their own and countless African nations; it is part of this messed up world we live in. I't's easy to look at the here and now and even the past like that pic of the Vietnam war and say American is evil, but they didn't butcher 6 million Jews.

  • @bigdiezel619 , Yes but if you look at it closely, many of the conflicts you are quoting, American government is often involved in those conflicts, some with the awareness of the public (populations) somes in secrecy, but always with a bunch of LIES. Never remember WAR IS BUSINESS; during WW2 general motors furnished most of german army, it was an american company (don't remember the name) who was in charge of producing the gas that killed millions of Jews in the death camp....etc

  • @TheKatsu89 What i wannna say, is that some people which are part of many different businesses (politics, economics, science, energy...etc) Who rule the world, in secret and their goal is (as it's called) "the new world order". People never wanted war, it's always some few powerful people who decide for everybody, according to their plan (which is not for our profit), don't be a fool your vote for president doesn't change anything, when some people rule the world's economy.

  • @TheKatsu89 Your future president will just have to say "Yes" to what they ask. Money, rules, this is the real power and the people who have this power just want more power. That's it. War, Peace, Politics, Economy, all that is an illusion to hide the fact that we are slaves.

  • @owenstheused All we know about human nature is that it changes.

  • @owenstheused

Such "evil" should be resisted and condemned where ever encountered.

Be it america or elsewhere, it doesn't matter. You are right it's about the human nature,

but it doesn't get any better if you just look away whenever stronger hurts weaker.

  • @owenstheused You're right that power corrupts, but surely we should fight that corruption and blame the corrupt rather than dismissing it as our nature

  • @nicobn2 I wonder what it's like to be an asshole, maybe we should ask you.

  • Lovely

  • magnifique!!!

    bravo et merci

  • amazing video , loved this song with so long. No doubt it got me through some dark times. Great compilation , only a matter of time till it reaches 2 or 3 million views.Well done
