i remember watching this in a theatre in 1983.... we were the only ppl in the place and for good reason... WHAT A PILE OF SHIT THIS WAS!.... I was expecting something as good as THE MAN THAT FELL TO EARTH, esp with this cast..but instead I wasted 2 hours of my life !
all we have to do is get The Artist Formerly Known as Prince to make a video or short movie with him baring his fangs, biting other woman with awesome music.
Ah the 1980s. The Glamor, the Gilts, The decadence, the glory, the eroticism, the beauty,, the blood, such a wonderfully perfect time for the vampire. The 1990s was nice as well, when the terror of the street and the underworld met dead, and then the 2000s came when emo teens began watching the matrix and underworld, copy cats started to disrespect the past, and now we have regurgitated clones of the 1980s which barely make the cut.
plus David Bowie as a blood drinker, goddamn, thats awsome
This movie makes me miss the 80's! I was a kid in the 80's but I saw both 80's and 90's Goth culture. In the 80's, my teenage neighbor's friend was a Goth and into vampires (Bauhaus' Bela Lugosi's Dead was her favorite song). In the 90's, when I was a teen, my high school had a lot of Goths who smoked and loved to help with the looks/sets/costumes of school plays. The 80's though was the first real decade of Goth, that is to say 80's Goths were the truest ones.
@Johnlindsey289 There are really only two things this movie has in common with Twilight. First, it involves vampires. As you pointed out, a very different type of vampire, but vampires nonetheless. Second, love is one of the main themes in the movie. This movie, however, has many things that Twilight does not. A good script based on an excellent book, beautiful cinematography, a talented cast, great music, and one of the best opening scenes (up there with opening for Apocalypse Now imho).
Do you think Edward Cullen is similar to John Baylock and do you think Edward tries to be a tortured soul like John but fails when John did it better? personally i think Twilight is more like Sleepwalkers with the similar high school love story of a "different" vampire and a human girl, wouldn't you agree?
If you liked The Hunger, check out Near Dark, Lifeforce, The Keep, Vamp (Grace jones 1986 one), Fright Night Series and Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter, seen those?
