i was recently given a 7 yr old indian ringneck. she doesnt seem to talk she just does that cat whistle thing. do you think she can still learn to mimic?

I just got one of these birds last week... 4 months old.. it cant talk though.. =(

It lets out a yell every now & then!

mine also....5 months & it doesn't talk yet :(.....i heard it can take up to a year for ringneck to start chatting.

Look at Tookie...hehas let his feathers grow back!! Do you know what changed so that he stopped picking his feathers? He is just adorable and so smart!! I just love a ringneck parrot's voice!!

He has been plucking and growing for years now, so I don't really know what triggers it. He is well loved, has company, is fed well and has been living in a huge aviary. It could be anything from boredom to sexual frustration (he doesn't have a female partner).

at what age did you start to handfed tookie? and how did you teach him to talk, cause I also got one but it was only 2 weeks old,because its parents neglect it so I adopt it.

I bought Tookie from a pet store on my honeymoon. He was handraised by a breeder not by me. I just spent every spare moment I had with him and spoke alot, and he soon picked up the words that were repeated enuff and that he could handle repeating.
