Top gear - AMG CL 65 Mercedes review

What is he on about? The CL600 has a 5.5l V-12 while this one has a 6.0 l V-12. Then the phone dialing business was rather stupid as well most of these voice systems have to be spoken to slowly not conversationally. This car was one of the best looking Mercs in my opinion although it was let down for sometime by Mercedes' loss of focus on quality. By the way, did anyone else see the lights working normally at 4.14?

thank goodness mercedes' dark days of chrysler style build quality are a thing of the past. at least the switchgear doesn't look like it came from a fisher-price parts bin. and even the electronic gremlins that plagued cars like the C215 CL and especially the W211 E, are gone.

ahhaaa, 738 lbs-ft of torque, and 8 guys.... how much does each of those 8 guys weigh? each of them needs to exert a little less than 100 lbs of pull to beat the engine.... but then there's the multiplier of the gears in the transmission and differential... still, at the end of the day, they're really only fighting the 2 small squares of rubber where the rear tires meet the asphalt. That team could probably pull it with the brakes locked on all 4 wheels.

I don't understand a few things in this review. for one thing he said they bored the engine out to 6.5 litres, but the cl65 as far as i know was only a 6.0 litre twin turbo just the same as the one in the sl65, and s65. he also says its the most powerful, but that doesnt make sense either because the sl65 and s65 produce the same power, plus not only that but the bugatti veyron is also considered a production car and produces about 400hp more...

@riz44 - This reveiw (as far as I'm aware) was before the '05 launch of the veyron so it was the most powerful road car at the time. Although I'm with you about the engine. Top Gear aren't really ones for making un-noticed mistakes but I'm sure it is just a 6L.

This is a CL (C215) 55 AMG

V8 5.5L supercharged (500BHP)

not a CL (C216) 65 (V12 biturbo), which came a few years later (2006)

The previous (C215 before facelift in 2003) CL 55 AMG had also a V8 5.5 but whithout supercharger (367BHP)

My mistake, it's definitely a V12 biturbo.

I didn't know is was already available in the C215 since the 2003 facelift.

The motor is the M275 E 60 AL, 5980cm3, 612BHP, 1000Nm.

It's the same in the actually CL65 (C216), S65 (W221) and SL65 (R230)
