@Armana14 : 4./ you speak of choosing to fight and therefore causing thousands of deaths, but, BOTH sides choose to fight & therefore both sides are responsible: - but you only accuse one side. Also, since this is true why didn't the Taliban take the course of justice and hand over Al-Q? And why today fight a war to topple current Afghan government: it is surely THEY who are causing deaths by refusing to accept the status quo?
@armana14 : 1. I didn't mention drones, but if you're at war with an army who control an area, its theoretically acceptable to bomb that enemy, with all the usual caveats. 2: the US gov never funded Al-Quaeda; Pakistan funded the Talibs who worked with Al-Q. 3. I don't even know which US official you speak of. The deaths of 24 Pakistani's was headline news worldwide. Nb. What about the hundreds of Pakistani soldiers killed by Taliban? Or the people of, is it, Baluchistan?
Please sign the e-petition for Babar Ahmad, the longest detained without trial British citizen, now in his eighth year behind bars fighting against extradition to the US. We need 100,000 signatures by 10/11/11 and Parliament will debate putting Babar on trial in the UK where is more likely to get a fair trial than the US. Visit freebabarahmad website for the link. Also, on Youtube watch “Life is One Big Road – Put Babar Ahmad on Trial in the UK.”
Comments about a US "Crusade against Muslims", just show how much delusional nonsense is linked to the anti-war movement here, and the xenophobic radical Muslim movement over there. Her questions are disingenuous anyway, as it's not a rally to ask questions, but a rally calling for an immediate scuttle. For capitulation.
The answer to the first question is, that we're there as a result of our involvement in 2001 when we had to topple the Taliban govn., because it refused to hand over Bin Laden. When we did that, we acquired a degree of responsibility for the eventual outcome in Afghanistan, and also for preventing the Taliban faction returning to power.
@CBfrmcardiff So you think US is being justified in droning Pakistan's tribal areas now thats how humane you might be and we certainly would not want to be.Before US govt started droning Pakistan there were no talibans in Pakistan statistically.Talibans both in Afghanistan as well as Pakistan were created as a result of foreign occupation resulting in civilian deaths.
@CBfrmcardiff US govt admitted that they funded Al qaeda and even if they were looking for Osama bin ladin how is that fair to kill thousands of innocent human beings who had nothing to do with this mess for one man.If a US official is killed in uniform its a headline story where the pressure shifts directly to Pakistan but when 24 Pakistani men in uniform were killed nobody bothers if thats the democracy you want all across the world thank God the world is smart enough not to fall for this
Unfortunately, the peace movements are asleep and are not doing enough to show the atrocities on the USA and NATO in Irak, Afghanistan and Libya......etc .
