  • Super!

  • Could anyone please tell me, whats the name of this song (composer) and where I can find the score of this title...

    Thank you

  • I know the movie is so historically inaccurate but I loved it.

  • Dragostea, cea adevarata, face toate intentiile onorabile.

  • loved this movie. especially with mark frankel, hes the greatest. rip mark

  • Mark was lovely in this film and I was in disbelief when I found out he had passed some years back.

  • her husband is joe out of corrie

  • love this movie.wish someone would download this whole thing. thanks for the clip. hope 2 see more soon.

  • my history teacher showed us this movie it was really cool! everyone liked it

    :]

  • i love it

  • And the church is the Smolny Cathedral in St. Petersburg.

  • If anyone's curious the music in this scene is the 3rd movement of the Bortnyansky Choir Concerto #10. The choral music used throughout the movie are all excerpts from Bortyansky's choir concertos.

  • Thank you very much for all the information!! The cathedral is very beautiful and that breathtaking music-I have wondered for years what it was called and where I might be able to acquire it! Thanks again. :)

  • No Problem. Valery Polyansky recorded all of the Bortnyansky choir concertos with the Russian State Symphonic Capella on the Chandos label on 6 separate cd's.

  • Wow!! Thank you for all the info on this beautiful music! I've been wanting to find it forever! :)

  • Ahh-a mystery solved! The music is enchanting and I too have wondered what it was called and who performed it for years-truly majestic. I wonder why Catherine hovers the crown over her head but does not actually put it on?? It seems a bit too big-perhaps that's why??

  • I don't know about the crown-perhaps some our friends here familiar with the history of Russian coronations can tell us. I've noticed they sort of hover crowns over the heads of bride and groom during Orthodox Christian weddings-perhaps it is tradition to not place it directly on the the head for some reason???

  • @audie83 Actually, the fact she doesn't put it on her head is made up for the film. Moreover, crowns of precious metals are only used by the Russian branch of Orthodoxy; the Greek branch (to which I belong) uses laurel wreathes, basically, and these are put on the head.

  • @pablononescobar The crown seem a replica of the Russian imperial crown-I noticed in the wedding scene with the Grand Duke and Catherine they hovered crowns over their heads as well. Interesting.

  • Yup that was my dad's doing. He will be so thrilled to hear you say that, he was so proud of that line. I can't wait to show he this site. Thank you

  • I also love the Frederick the Great line (excuse any misquotes) "I place two straplings on the throne of Russia and what happens? The girl goes native and is more Russian than a cossack and the boy goes mad!" Brilliant!

I see from IMBD that you dad also wrote the screenplay for Don't Look Now. Impressive!

Best to him, and to you too!

  • My dad is the one that does the circumsion. He is also in the scene before where is talks about the game the soliders play when they are drunk. When they shot that scene they did one take and he said a one liner that got everyone laughing and they used that.

  • Your dad did a great job with the script!!! I also loved the circumcision scene, particularly the line "I suggest you tell him that he won".

  • My father wrote this. He was in the movie as the doctor. I love it. I am trying to find a copy. My father lent it to a friend and we cant remember who it was

  • Is this the doctor who performed the circumsion on the Grand Duke, or the doctor who examined Catherine and informed the Empress that the Grand Duchess was still a virgin? Either way I loved both of those scenes!

  • After a lot of searching I recently managed to get hold of a copy of this film on dvd from ebay. Well worth the search. Fantastic! Julia Ormond and Vanessa Redgrave are both great, as is Reece Dinsdale as Peter III.

  • I have to say that my favorite scenes are the ones with Catherine and her crazed husband!

  • Thank you for posting this! I videotaped this when it was first aired and the quality has deteriorated. I can't seem to find it on dvd. I wish I knew what this Church song in Russian is called-it is so beautiful and ethereal! I'd love to get the soundtrack. :)

  • I will find out from my father what it was. He wrote and starred in the mini series. Email me back and I will try and find the name of the song

  • Wow. Thank you ever so much. You Rock! :) And so does your dad-he did a tremendous job and I hope he knows how many people love this series!

  • I've been looking for this movie to download and watch FOREVER..any ideas as to where i can find it???

  • uh.... interesting

  • I agree it is.

  • This movie is so hard to find
