Why is it that Greece's history is so important to us but what went on in U.S.A over a hundred years ago is called the past we must leave alone. In more ancient times, there was a strict class order and women weren't very high on it. There is much debate as to why this is, and it greatly varies from culture to culture, so I'll just leave it there.
