  • it just don't get any better than Jay Parrack, Johnathan Wilburn, Mark Trammel, and Tim Riley of one of the earlier Gold City Quartets.

  • TIM RILEY HAS RETURNED TO GOLD CITY!!!!! I just read it on their website that he is back!!

  • everyone in this quartet is amazing...ESPECIALLY tim riley oh my gosh...=D

  • Tim Riley is one of the greatest

  • Isso é que alegria ao servir a cristo!!

    Louvado seja Deus!

  • One of the best Bass singers. The name Tim Riley, that is all that needs to be said.

  • What an awesome group with a wonderful Bass singer. Love them quartets

  • TIM RILEY~~

  • WOW!!! What a Spirit filled performance. That is some good southern gospel music. I am so glad Jesus saved me or I wouldn't have ever had the chance to fall in love with this music. It makes me just want to jump in there with them. I would love to be playing a piano with singers like this. I can testify that when singers have awesome voices, it actually makes you play an instrument at a higher level, especially when the Spirit is moving the song that is being sung. Praise the LORD in the highest

  • I'm an athiest, and I appreciate this music as much as you. Don't believe its exclusive.

  • @Barbershop666 I'm just curious, how come you appreciate this music?

  • who's the bass

  • jay parrack

  • God's building a church. Amen!!!!

  • Really goooood!!!

    the quartet.

    Glory to GOD.

  • amazing bass! you can actually understand what he's singing.

  • 1:30 - Phelps says "he's good", I think he's talking about the bass singer. When David Phelps says you're good...now THAT'S a testament.

  • What a shame that the blond singer is

with the group no longer. For me HE is

the voice of Gold City because this is

how I get to know the group.<3<3<3

Love this song a lot !!!

  • 2:21.... crazy good

  • absolutley brileant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What Gaither Video is this?????

  • i love this song...

  • I Injoyed your Video very much, I am also a Musician, Check out my Website. Wayne Weberpal

  • Awesome bass!!! =O

  • One of the best gospel songs I've ever heard, and certainly one of the best performance! Southern Gospel just rocks!

  • Watch the eye contact & unspoken interaction between the late Glen Payne & Jonathan Wilburn. JW spent several hours during the making of this Gaither video speaking w/Glen & "picking his brain". That's the respect that Glen commanded & Jonathan appreciated. Southern Gospel's future is in good hands w/performers like these!!

  • Tim Riley is the greayest bass singer ever !!!!

  • You have just seen the greatest bass singer ever to sing southern gospel music. Sure there are many who can sing a Cbelow low C but nobody can do it with the clarity Tim Riley can.

  • Tim Riley is absolutely one of the best, God-endowed bass singers of all time. He's at his best...

  • what is the name of the bass?!?

  • Tim Riley

  • 1:42 is so funny!

  • 1:42? What are you talking about?

  • What is the name of the video? And can you get Im Not Giving up on Video?

  • it's already on video look in the related search. and the title of this video is like right there lol it's called "God's Building A Church"

  • I was talking about what is the name of the gaither video that these songs are on lol

  • sweet sweet spirit is the name

  • WHO CUT OFF THE LAST NOTE?!

  • type in "gold city god's buiding" in the search i posted the full version

  • Omg. Thank you.

  • Can we buy the DVD of the whole show somewhere?

  • Yes its a part of the gaither series dvds/vhs

  • I agree that it would've been nice to hear that ending note. I own this particular video of Bill Gaithers and this is by all accounts one of my favorites. Thank-you for this, I can listen to it in my office while I'm going through my trials at work. Let me tell you, I got my co-workers dancing with me and it's soooooooooooooooooo much fun. Thank-you again.

  • no problem.ya ill get them right to u.enjoy have fun:)

  • i would like the words as well. thanks so much.

  • yap ill send u them.

  • Tim Storms MAY have the 'official' record for 'lowness' but Tim Riley sounds WAY better, he doesn't sound like he is straining and the volume is WAY up there... TIm Storms is struggling so hard to get those low notes out there, you couldn't hear him without a mic, no such problem with Riley.

  • And another thing...Riley hits these notes with such power and amazing tone..not to talk bad about storms but it sounds like its being forced out..and not in a good way... Riley is an excellent singer.

  • i'm not even religious (no offence) and i love this song a lot...great rythym and very catchy..especially with all those notes that Tim can hit..and from what i've seen people commenting..its not how low you can sing, i meanm i'd listen to Tim Riley over Tim Storms anyday. But anywas...dont mean to be controversial..excellent video!

  • On this song, Tim Riley EASILY sings a low G. Yes, there are some out there who can sing lower. (Tim Storms for example) But Riley sings those low notes with such resonance! I call it 'rip power'. Stout.

  • Tim has THE most resonate bass voice ever. He's always been my favorite!

  • If you want to describe what a a great gospel quartet bass should sound like just say the name Tim Riley.

  • This, in my opinion, was Gold City's best sound ever. Tim was always a great bass. Good luck to him in his "ministry to the fish" a.k.a. retirement.

  • whoa... That's the lowest note I've ever heard.

  • I've heard lower. We had a gospel quartet come to our church once called "The Relations Quartet" and their bass singer literally made the floorboards shake. And that was without a microphone and amplifier. I do enjoy this song though.

  • Tim is a real good friend of mine..... the sound is poor on here! if you want to hear him.... let me know and i can send you some of his work!

  • i dont think it's poor, i think it sounds great!

  • I would love to hear more of Tim if you have some.

  • I love Mark Lowry's face when Tim hits that low note on the second time through. He's probably thinking, Do it again, Tim!!! Do it again!

  • tim riley is amazing in this....george younce, jd sumner, and glenn dustin of legacy five are by far the best in my opinion

  • yea tim riley is downright amazing....i think that some of the best basses are definetly george younce of the catedrals, jd sumner, glenn dustin of legacy five, and richard sterban.

  • WONDERFUL! I can´t stop listening to this amazing performance by Gold City. God really blessed them with such wonderful voices. I´m really amazed at Tim Riley´s performance. I´m not a native speaker of English and I have some difficulty at understanding all the lyrics of this song. Could anyone post the lyrics? It would really be a blessing if anyone did so.Thanks a lot hoover 4000 for sharing this video. May The Lord bless you for it.

  • The lyrics to the chorus are:

God's building a church (it's gonna march like a mighty army band)

God's building a church (it's gonna rise from a valley of dead dry bones)

Sanctified, glorified, filled with the Holy Spirit power and might; it's almost time for the church to fly, God's building a church.

  • This Gold City version sounds like it is saying:

God's building a church (it's gonna march like a mighty army band) God's building a church (It'll be water to a dry and barren land) God's building a church (It's gonna rise from a valley of dead dry bones) Sanctified, glorified, filled with the Holy Ghost power and might; Purified with fire divine, God's building a church.

  • i have the whole lyrics after some searching cause i love this song too & wanted to sing with them but after searching & searching i found the whole song lyrics for it.

  • i want the lyrics!

  • sure brittany5870 ill get u the lyrics too :o)

  • Best rendition of this song ever, especially TR's Bass!

  • amazing! Tim Riley is DEFINATELY the best EVER... NOONE, sounds as good as he does, when he goes low... NOONE.

  • Time Riley is a good bass singer. He hits the low notes and sounds great. I like him and Richard Sterban the best.

  • good, God bless you

  • I LOVE "Gold City" Tim Riley lives in a town close to me, have listened to all their music. Tim is best bass singer as far as I'm concerned. Love Parrack...

  • Those are some serious low notes!

  • Does anyone have any videos of Gold City from the early 90's when Brian Free and Ivan Parker was still with the group? Gold City was absolutely amazing in the early 90's.

  • esse Tim Riley é muito bom!

  • Yep....Tim Riley is one of about three of "the best in the business." Especially given that so many of the greats are gone on. Thanks for posting this.

  • Best bass singer I've ever heard. Most guys try to go lower than their true range, and are either croaking, or using vocal fry. This guy *buries* a low G in what sounds like chest voice. Amazing...

  • That's cool. I can do that too :D See my video.

  • Riley is the best!!!!!.. and Parrack ???? is Android....Cool!!!!
