You should use "estás" instead of "eres" when you mean a place where somebody is.

Tú estás aquí = You are here.

"Tú eres aquí" wouldn't make any sense in Spanish.

Also, you'd have to say "por qué" (why) when it is a question, and "porque" (because) when it is an answer.

I'm a Spanish native speaker from Spain, I've studied English for many years and now I'm trying to get into Russian, so I'm following your lessons to learn and they are very helpful for me, thank you!

Greetings professor Huliganov. I am really enjoying your Russian course. It's far more interesting than the courses I bought. I'm was intending to use your lessons to supplement the Michel Thomas course but I find myself giving less time to that and doing it the other way around. If you were not such an incredible teacher you could easily be on the stage as a singer or commedian. I thought the joke was really funny. Thanks once again and all the best.

not to be a douch or anything, but спасибо is pronounced spasiba. its really hard to tell the difference between the russian "o" sound

To say the truth, there is no capital punishment in Russia for articulating all unstressed "o's" as distinct "o's" :-)

And many people do, especially in Nothern and Upper-Volga regions (Vologda, Nizhnyi Novgorod). And so do orthodox priests, speaking "as written".

But folks in Moscow (and in Southern regions) really tend to say "a" wheherever it is possible.

Thanks for another good lesson. However, am not too clear about the вкдючать и выключать part of the video. Another thing, colored words are not too clear as you have a rather dark background. I think white font would be better.

The jokes are getting better too. Need to practice my towel trick but that's a little more difficult.

It is an extract from the opening bars of Harry Nilsson's 1978 piece "All I think about is you".

If you would like to hear the full thing, albeit with my vocal participation, search on "Nilsson think" and it's the seventh one down - or thereabouts. The order there is subject to change of course. Right now that's the only version of that song on here, although I had thought of putting it up with just Harry singing and a stick man cartoon as the accompanying video, but that's a lot of work.

One on ten to twelve videos of mine should be a lesson, and that means once every two to three weeks. This is a disadvantage to people who start following the course while I am still at the early stages. I got fed up of doing long lessons which took ages to do and ended up splitting into two, so I have truncated them and now the new ones are all one-parters.

If you take opera lessons then am sure dimitri Hvorostovksi will start fearing you,but then again you are not a baritone,your are a tenor with a strong voice ,so please sing a bit far from the mike,bravo.

OK. I used to be a tenor, but other music teachers even here on youtube have stated that I am one no longer. I wish I were.

What's the more common name, "locative case" or "prepositional case"?

It depends who is talking about it. The reason Russian calls it the prepositional is that it is now ONLY used with prepositions, whereas all other cases can be used without. However, this was not always the case in the history of Slavonic.

Interesting, interesting. And yeah, that is one thing I've seen with the Russian locative case, so it does make some pretty good sense.

In linguistics some people call it the locative and some the prepositional. People only dealing with Russian are more likely to call it the prepositional, whereas people dealing with a number of Slavic languages are more likely to call it the locative. In Polish, for example, the term is "miejscownik". It is not an ideal term for it either. I think I'll do a little lesson about that, introducing the whole concept of cases.
