I am disgusted by the fact that race has been brought into this case. I live in san francisco and my neighbor was a former BART police officer. The BART police officers receive 8 hours and sometimes less training. I think that bringing race into this issue is pulling America back. Race should not be a factor in this. The officer pulled his gun instead of his taser and made a mistake. Involuntary Manslaughter was the right decision.

For instant, cops are trained to hold a taser with their left hand and their pistol with both hand. He held his weapon with both hands which leads me to believe he knew what he was doing. Also his taser is on his left side and his pistol on his right. And last but not least, there was no reason to tase Grant if he was faced down with another officer assisting him.

This officer is NOT guilty of murder. Anyone who thinks so is blind. Under California Penal Code Section 192, voluntary manslaughter is, "any unintentional killing that results from lawful or unlawful actions" and involuntary manslaughter is, "any killing that results from a sudden fight or quarrel". It's clear that either manslaughter variant is what Mehserle is guilty of.
