This was stupi, shows how fukd english people, before this NZ let Collingwood stay at the crease from another weird incident. Stupid English. I hate Sidebottom and Collingwood there both pussys.

@ollz12234 When you put it into context, It's a moral dilemma, even Collingwood himself later regretted his actions and said it was a decision made in the heat of the moment.
And bitch please..I think I'm entitled to voice what I think of England's ethical considerations, and I fail to remotely comprehend how that affects them being "the best in the world" so to speak. Get a grip.
I think that Collingwood should have reversed his decision. But instead he made the wrong choice of appealing. The result of this match was Nz won by 1 wickets.
Ian Bell Controversy, I think only bell knows whether he was out or not out.We cant judge this situation. Dhoni has also should not have done that thing. I also wants to that why indians are saying they lose the match because of this.Bell just added i think 17 runs after this.
I'm an England supporter, but the reality side of this incident is that Grant shouldn't have been given his marching orders. Oh well, I guess justice was made in the end, as New Zealand got their desired result.
@HUFCawaytravel Wow, rebuttal of the year, 2011! So much substance behind your statement, I really hope that doesn't reflect your incapabilities to the furthermost extent.
I'd have to say that Elliott made it slightly worse for himself by trying to run between Sidebottom and the batsman, Sidebottom was always gonna go for the ball and a collision was therefore always likely, however, I'm disappointed in Collingwood/England for not allowing the batsman to remain, that would have been a much more preferable outcome.
I actually think it's the batsman's fault. If you pause at 0:58 you can see that Elliott makes the foolish decision of trying to run in between the bowler and the batsman. The bowler has the right to run straight towards the ball and the Elliott has the responsibility of not coming between the ball and the bowler. He should have gone left and he didn't. I understand that it's a split second decision but he is legally and morally out.
@MrBen51309 I agree there was nothing wrong with what Sidebottom did, I see this a few times and I reckon Elliott probably shouldve gone the other way. Its unfortunate he got out. And maybe Collingwood shouldve reversed the decision.
@cfhasib and your a fucken dick, that should not have been out look at the Vettori/Collingwood runout, vetori was a good sportsman and let him stay in, collingwood is just a dick and wanted a free wicket
In the law of the game than this situation means that Grant elliot is out. However I do not agree with the lack of sportsmanship that england showed. It is not Ryan Sidebottom's fault because in a run out situation it is in the rights of the fielder or in this case the bowler to go straight for the ball
HOW IS THIS SHAMEFUL CRICKET?! it was an innocent mistake where nobody is to blame. it just so happens that the outcome is against NZ. if elliot had plowed through sidebottom, england would have been calling for obstruction of the ball. as far as im concerned, eliiot should have run to the LEFT of sidebottom if he fancied a chance. instead he CHOSE to attempt ploweing through sidebottom, and hence got out. TOTALLY FAIR, NO QUESTIONS NEEDED
@bazbonehead Dude, Sidebottom was on the left side of the pitch when Elliot started to run, then Sidebottom changed direction. Plus Elliot was in the possible situation of colliding with his own batsman, choosing to possibly obstruct his own player rather than the opposition. So don't give me that bullshit that Elliot plowed through Sidebottom ya prick!!!
@bazbonehead The batsman is untitled to keep his line when running between wickets and sidebottom ran into his path to get the ball which makes it an accident obviously. The really dog move by England was to not withdraw the appeal.
Well, I would have liked Collingwood to withdraw the appeal as that would've been good for the sport and I always think players should play within the spirit of the law rather then the letter; such as walking when they know they're out. BUT, I don't think Elliot would have made the ground even if he hadn't been obstructed so I can see why Collingwood kept the appeal. Still probably the wrong decision though.
sidebottom.....i'll whoop ur ass backwards...england team cheap gesture.....game started by them...still not able to win a single world cup....neva goin too
Ya, and when something similar happened with Ian fucking Bell himself, what does he do? Sends his coach to the Indian dressing room and fucker requwsts MS Dhoni to give him another chance. Fucking hypocrites English fuckers. And believe me, im not just saying it cause India lost, trust me. Asshole english cricketers. "Spirit of the game", BULL SHIT,
@guillotineind Barley mate. Shouldn't hate England for a decision Collingwood made. I doubt Bell actually sent Flower and Strauss to the Indian dressing room pal, Remember these are adults pal. Not under 13's. And we do play with the right spirit. On and off the field, just because we made a bad mistake, I'm english and I agree Collingwood was unfair on Elliot here, but 1 bad decision from Collingwood doesn't mean English are assholes and we don't play in the right spirit!
this is another example of England's lack of sportsman spirit... they along with Australia are the biggest cry babies of cricket.. .. if someone does this to them then they will make a big issue saying it is unfair, however if they do this to others, then it is plain bad luck.. bloody loosers!!!!!
@Criccricket first of all my comment was on the cricket team and not on the crowd! we can excuse the crowd saying that they are there to have a good time.. but since you have taken the topic, i want to ask you whether you have any idea what goes on in the Australian grounds.. fielders are tortured by the crowd in the boundary line.. there have been cruel comments passed on the sub-continent players.. however they cannot complain because if they do, in turn they will be accused of lacking spirit.
@nairnayar every team is cricket are cry babies, india especially, they appeal like crazy for anything and carry on if its not given, then whine because they can't appeal decisions because they always whine about the review system and don't want it.
@mrmooz Since when has appealing too much been a problem? The only problem is, it slows down the over rate. For that, Indian captains over the years have been penalised in the form of fines and even match bans. And whining about review system is being done by the Indian board; the players are forced to support them due to political reasons. The only point i am trying to make above is that england and australia like to play the game hard but if other teams do that to them. they become cry babies!
@nairnayar Spectators on the boundary line are usually the worst I will admit, I sat near some idiots at Melbourne one time and once the crowd gets enough alcohol into their system the ones in large groups become arrogant and loud mouthed. Most of the time it starts off as harmless fun, sleding if you want, but it can become quite vicious and personal which is where I draw the line. I back Australia every game but I don't whinge and complain like some people who tend to make Australia look bad.
England are so unsportsmanly however good they are and in the next game vettori had the option to give paul collingwood out or not out and he gave him not out and then ian bell who hits the ball to the boundarie - thinks its four - walks off to go to tea dhoni throws it to a fielder who knocks off the bails because the ball was not actually over the boundarie and over had not been called. Dhoni at first wanted the desicion to stay but then after tea he changes his mind and gives ian bell not out
@mutatoes I agree this was dispicable, but two wrong wouldn't make right you know. Bell should've been reinstated against India, and Elliot should have been here.
@Cream147player The problem is that bell WAS reinstated against india, whereas Elliot wasn't here. This demonstrates a huge amount of hypocrisy from the English
@mutatoes I'm aware. As I said, two wrongs still don't make a right. Elliot should've been reinstated here, and he wasn't, but that doesn't mean that Bell shouldn't have been in that game. Furthermore, you're tarring all English with the same brush. I didn't make the decision to keep Elliot out, I'd have reinstated him had I been the captain. Don't hold me (an English person who thought Bell's dismissal was bad sportmanship until he was reinstated) accountable for something Paul Collingwood did.
I remember a match in which hansie cronje didnot even throw the ball to the keeper when he saw Jadeja falling down after coliding with the bowler. such a gentle man he was..........
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@unwicked91 2 totally different events mate, in this one grant elliott ran in front of sidebottom on PURPOSE like any good batsman would do but as a result collided with sid and was run out respectively, but in the Bell case the Indian team ran bell out in a rather pathetic attempt when the two batsmen did not know the situation. Think about it and dont you dare call the England Cricket Team rats because quite frankly they are the best in the world.
... because the 20 runs bell added were that significant. i personally think he got out on his own folly, and should have paid the consequences... but seriously? that's such an audacious especially when even without that incident, england completely dominated and smacked india around for 90 over today.
Whilst I appreciate it's not the greatest level of Sportsmanship from the English team, it also needs to be noted that the incident with Collingwood is incomparable. Once an umpire calls 'over' the ball is dead, and Collingwood's was simply not out, as the ball was dead. But at the same time, perhaps England claiming this wicket was a bad level of sportsmanship, however it is still out and the majority of people on here slating England for it would probably take the wicket themselves! Hahaa.
Shame on england...because....on my right hand side window...there is a vid. recn by youtube to watch ...in which new zealand shows their sportsmanship....Shame on ENGLAND!
If Elliott had not gone out of his way to cross paths with Sidebottom, I'd be saying "yeah, let him stay at the crease". A right-handed batsman would normally run down the leg side of the pitch when attempting a run. Sidebottom was definitely going for the ball to try to run out Mills, and Elliott may have been seen by Engand to be attempting to obstruct Sidebottom from fielding the ball. That's the only reason I can see for this occurring.
@wierdwesterner Spot on. The batsman always has a choice of which direction to run in. The fielders have only one path to take, the one to the ball. Don't run between the fielder and the ball and you probably won't run into a fielder!
Although it was wrong what they did, if you look at the match in detail. The New Zealand players then responded by celebrating very unsportsmanlike so although Collingwood should have retracted his appeal, the Kiwis although the felt 'robbed' of a wicket, they shouldn't have celebrated in the manner they did which was very over the top
@ContactReal That's coming from an Australian, if there's one team with a reputation for gamesmanship and cheating in modern world cricket; it's yours.
I think with the scores being so tight at the time that was in the back of Colly's mind... it NZ were chasing 50 from 15 it would have been a different choice.
But hats of to DV for his sportsmanship the match after.
surpose all u people that are slagging collingwood off have never made a mistake in the heat of the moment?? i play cricket and have made desions under pressure that in the cold hard light of day i have regreted. live and learn
after this incident Daniel Vettori replied with a blinder of sportsman spirit when Collingwood got out in the next match of the same series... Daniel withdrew the appeal against Collingwood and he continued to bat... what a reply from Vettori... hats off
Thanks for the info bro... no Offence but ur story has one mistake. Collingwood's incident took place in 2010 ICC CHAMPIONS TROPHY in South Africa match but this match happened when Newzealand toured England. Just wanted to correct u without any hard feelings :) and yeah always respect for what vettory did
remember how NEW ZEALAND ran out murali after he thought the ball was dead and went to congratulate sangakkara on scoring a century..absolutely no reason for anybody to claim that england lack spirit against a side that did that..
I see nothing wrong with what occured. If anything, it was bad jugdement by Elliott. It's the fielder/bowler's perogative to run towards the ball after being hit and therefore it's the batman's responsibility to get out of his way. The decision may look bad on Collingwood's behalf, but I think he did the right thing.
To be fair to Collingwood, he did go into the new zeeland room immediatly after the game and admitted he was wrong and then also in the media. Not too many sportsman would have had the guts to do that. Everybody makes errors, its making amends for them that is important.
@harryspooner He was nearer to getting the ball than Elliott was to getting to the other end. Fair play to him, he's sees his mate charging down the pitch for a crazy single, realises he'll never make it, thinks to himself "I know I'll run into the bowler and fall over like a big jessy."
that is fuckin disgraceful but then again whose surprised those pathetic pommy cunts will do anything to win which they never do and dont know how to play in a sporting way fuckin disgraceful. fuck england
rule is, if Elliot wants to run into the bowler, if he gets taken out, and run out, then its HIS fault. Technically England were right, but i would have withdrawn the appeal and said not out myself!
happy that bastard retired frm test matches coz vettori let collingwood survive a run out in nz a few yrs later and so collingwood should feel very guilty and so he should
happy that bastard retired frm tests becoz in nz when mcculum ran out collingwood vettori let him stay so collingwood would feel very guilty and so he should
@duncandohnut1993 It's not cheating, just bad sportsmanship. Elliot WAS out; however Colly wasn't out as the umpire was moving from his spot from square leg inferring it was over. Collingwood should have withdrew it anyway but don't talk stupid, stupid.

... because the 20 runs bell added were that significant. i personally think he got out on his own folly, and should have paid the consequences... but seriously? that's such an audacious especially when even without that incident, england completely dominated and smacked india around for 90 over today.
teddypicker12345 6 months ago
@adsonkool No. 20 runs would not save india from the arse raping they are receiving from a far better team.

@MrTheKlunk no one know he ll gonna out after 20 scores..this is a true spirit of the game
gorubhullar 6 months ago
Whilst I appreciate it's not the greatest level of Sportsmanship from the English team, it also needs to be noted that the incident with Collingwood is incomparable. Once an umpire calls 'over' the ball is dead, and Collingwood's was simply not out, as the ball was dead. But at the same time, perhaps England claiming this wicket was a bad level of sportsmanship, however it is still out and the majority of people on here slating England for it would probably take the wicket themselves! Hahaa.

I reckon England did NZ a favor.41 mins at the crease and only 24 runs and England off all team..
13kiwiboy 8 months ago
@13kiwiboy So? He had only faced 28 deliveries... in ODI cricket SR is more relevant than Runs/time (which makes a difference in test cricket).
pubuman 7 months ago
If Elliott had not gone out of his way to cross paths with Sidebottom, I'd be saying "yeah, let him stay at the crease". A right-handed batsman would normally run down the leg side of the pitch when attempting a run. Sidebottom was definitely going for the ball to try to run out Mills, and Elliott may have been seen by Engand to be attempting to obstruct Sidebottom from fielding the ball. That's the only reason I can see for this occurring.
Otherwise it is just bad form.
wierdwesterner 8 months ago
@wierdwesterner Spot on. The batsman always has a choice of which direction to run in. The fielders have only one path to take, the one to the ball. Don't run between the fielder and the ball and you probably won't run into a fielder!

Shocking......we are normally so fair but this goes against everything in English Cricket.......terrible decision there Colly.
tipsytwinkle1 8 months ago
Although it was wrong what they did, if you look at the match in detail. The New Zealand players then responded by celebrating very unsportsmanlike so although Collingwood should have retracted his appeal, the Kiwis although the felt 'robbed' of a wicket, they shouldn't have celebrated in the manner they did which was very over the top

I think with the scores being so tight at the time that was in the back of Colly's mind... it NZ were chasing 50 from 15 it would have been a different choice.
But hats of to DV for his sportsmanship the match after.

MrBen51309 1 year ago
To be fair to Collingwood, he did go into the new zeeland room immediatly after the game and admitted he was wrong and then also in the media. Not too many sportsman would have had the guts to do that. Everybody makes errors, its making amends for them that is important.
moggoon 1 year ago
@moggoon I agree Collingwood did well to say sorry...in 2009 CT the same happened in reverse, but Vettori withdrew the appeal v Collingwood

I wonder if Elliot has been spending time with Dider Drogba. Worst. Dive. Ever.
JacktheBeard 1 year ago
@JacktheBeard you are kidding right?? sidebottom was playing rugby der!!!! he was no where near getting the ball.
harryspooner 1 year ago
@harryspooner He was nearer to getting the ball than Elliott was to getting to the other end. Fair play to him, he's sees his mate charging down the pitch for a crazy single, realises he'll never make it, thinks to himself "I know I'll run into the bowler and fall over like a big jessy."
JacktheBeard 1 year ago
that is fuckin disgraceful but then again whose surprised those pathetic pommy cunts will do anything to win which they never do and dont know how to play in a sporting way fuckin disgraceful. fuck england

rule is, if Elliot wants to run into the bowler, if he gets taken out, and run out, then its HIS fault. Technically England were right, but i would have withdrawn the appeal and said not out myself!

duncandohnut1993 1 year ago
@duncandohnut1993 It's not cheating, just bad sportsmanship. Elliot WAS out; however Colly wasn't out as the umpire was moving from his spot from square leg inferring it was over. Collingwood should have withdrew it anyway but don't talk stupid, stupid.
