@waiwairara Kashmir is a region that lies between India & Pakistan. Both countries claim it and have fought wars over the territory. It's a very mountainous, timeless and mystical land occupied by tribes with cultures going back thousands of years ("...elders of the gentle race."). You read the lyrics and it's easy to conclude that the land of Kashmir was the inspiration for the song.
