Such a sweet rhythm you've found for this one. It's a beautiful song, isn't it.
One of my great favorites. Reading what you said about Jimmy Buffett...yes, that is a wonderful album you mentioned. I have followed Jimmy for a long time too. My favorite song from him is a rarely-heard West Nashville Grand Ballroom Gown. Jimmy wrote some beautiful story songs and that is one of the best.
@nllleonard Ha, ha! Jimmy sure has a way with words! Thanks for coming by for another listen. Haven't done this one in a while, but my buddies and I have done it in the past with banjo, harmonica and fiddle. Our fiddle player is amazing. He starts out soft and low and builds throughout the song unitl he is just soaring at the end. We are doing an open mic tonight in East Lansing. Biloxi isn't on the set list, but City of New Orleans, Urge for Going and some others are. Peace. ~ Mark
Yep, it is one of those great oldies, but goodies. Hey, how did the fishing go? Man, fishing, happy songs; do I see a ukulele in your future, too? Cheers. - Mark
Thanks for stopping by, onkelbuke. Glad you liked what you heard. By the way, you are doing some great things on your channel. Pretty impressive for only playing guitar for two years! All the best. - Mark
OH YAY!!! THere you go straight to my favorites again! ;) ANd my playlist of covers of Jesse's beautiful songs! Thank you so much Mark, for this beautiful rendition! Made my night for sure!!!
Well thank you, Ms. NAncy. I appreciate your kind words. Yep, Jesse sure has written some wonderful songs. Funny about this one, though, I was more familiar with Jimmy Buffett's version. In fact it was one of the first tunes I tried to learn when I first picked up a guitar back in the 70's. It came off of Buffett's "Changes in Latitudes Changes in Attitudes" album. All the best. - Mark
Sorry...my fingers are treacherous! They act indepently from my brain! ;) Was trying to say....I love the song West Nashville Grand Ballroom Gown....from his "LIving and Dying in 3/4 Time" and it is not on YT. But....now that I listen, it is probably just something I like....peculiar taste and all that! ;) ANYWAY....yes, I like Buffett's take on this one too, but of course, always would prefer Jesse's original! ;) Thanks for doing this one!
Last comment! ;) I have to qualify that comment by saying that there are some special covers of Jesse's music that hold a very special place in my heart...so scratch what I said about always prefering his originals! ;) Clarity and succinctness are not my strengths. ;)
