I've heard hundreds of comedians use the same jokes in different variations many times. Thing is, it's a funny subject no matter how you present it. I'd like to know who owns every joke ever told, cuz I have committed copyright infringement many times by using them in conversation to lighten up a mood or situation. A joke, any joke, is bound to sound like someone else's joke after a while, hell, how many comedians are there now? Keep on keepin' on Mrs. Hughes, you crack me up!

i watched another clip of her and 60% of her material was stolen from dead comics. stuff i heard 30 years ago. and here, she is outed for the stupid gravy boat analogy and keeps at it as if she does not know how to ad lib. sorry. her material was booorriing.....

maybe she could be kathy bates stand-in in movies. that's about it. or when they need to replace the family size member of the The View.

Anyway, she's funny but to use a stolen joke as your FIRST line is just wrong and it's stuff like this happening that makes stand up comedy a dying art form. You should not use stolen jokes ever but the fact that she went to it right out of the gate is just pure laziness. I mean that line is as bad as someone saying 2 Jews walk into a bar and buy it.

Not a good sign when the first joke is one I've heard every overweight comedian do word for word. Not saying she's overweight but to use a stock joke right out of the shoot?

Yeah but if a stock joke is your first line you need to write ALOT more. I don't know this lady so it's not personal but that's just total laziness to do a joke first that's probably been around since the 70's/early 80's.

It would be like a band coming out playing Eruption and trying to play it off as their song, is that right? I mean the microphone line is straight out of a jokebook and it's stuff like using a jokebook joke that lowers the standard of what's acceptable on stage but hey to each his own.
