@JEL625 No. You fail to understand solipsism. There is no brain. The 'impulses' are not 'unreliable' but rather the only thing you can rely on. Your thought is the sum of existence.
@caLLLendar impulses of what? in solipsism there is no material world you can measure in any manner as it is all a product of a said mind. Thus no evidence one can acquire to prove any of these premises as it call all be a hallucination. It is a philosophical dead end, psychological horse shit, biological rejection, and a rejection of all empirical data. To be a solipsist you must be the only solipsist as everyone is is a product of your mind and cannot be proven otherwise.
@JEL625 Yes. I agree with you, but I don't look at solipsism negatively like you do. You have more "faith" and "hope" than I do. Do you have faith that you have a "body"? . . . . . If so, you have faith in . . . . . . . . . . .distance . . . . . . . . linear time The only thing you can prove is that you have "thoughts." You are hoping there is more to reality than thought. Thought isn't enough for you. Why? A: Solipsism is "lonely". I have no faith or need to prove there is anything more.
@caLLLendar Sorry but no, I have no faith. I have an evidence based world. I am also monist. Having a body? A body is all we are and this video is actually a testament to that, so long as you remove the solipsism. We know how the brain works, how we see, hear, and all the other senses. We know how to trick them and manipulate them. There much we know and there is still far more to discover.
I reject solipsism because all other information points elsewhere. It is not hope or faith.
@JEL625 Where is your body? Where is your earth? Where is your galaxy? Where is your universe? Where is your "proof" that 2 human bodies exist apart from each other? How do you 'prove' that you were alive yesterday (and not simply born in this moment with memories of the past)? At least be honest. You have no proof. You just have "faith" that the universe is "floating someWHERE" other than your THOUGHT. Don't worry. Your "faith" is "thought" too! :)
Solipsism simply says that reality comes from the same place dreams do.
If you think reality came from God or a pea sized piece of matter, then that is a matter of faith. Faith (noun): 'belief that is not based on proof' . Prove where the Universe "is" and I'll accept that you know where your body "is". You have nothing more than a fairy tale someone else told you. @psynapsurfa You mind is "nowhere". Using the word "where" assumes a 'place' and that means that there is 'distance'. There is no 'distance'. All you perceive is thought and thought is all of existence. Ask yourself, "What is the distance from one side of a thought to the other?"

@LaserGuidedLoogie what is real for you? real itself is not well defined and you understand it intuitively. if you try to define any word you need other words. since you cannot have an infinite dictionary it follows that you need intuitively understood terms.
i disagree with the extreme idealism because it seem to suggest that these perceptions are meaningless. It is possible that matter is solely a perception, but one that is meaningful to a certain extent that you can call it reality.
@setnoset I thus think that matter can be said to be real in the sense that it provides a way for us to do many things, including creating; i.e. it is useful. In this pardigm, one can say that the organization of the physical world (its mathematical symmetry) was induced by one or more minds. although i think matter can be said to be real i think it has no meaning without the observer.
No matter what I imagine or really truly believe or can see myself doing, if I jump off the building I will splatter. I will not be soaring thru the sky Peter Pan style. No matter how much I meditate I have to eat something, we all do. Why must we eat why not imagine a world where I don't have to take a shit or a piss, it would be far more convenient & time saving. Monks that pray all day and meditate that no one will die today & world peace still open their eyes to same cruel world as me. WHY?
Well I don't know why but this video certainly does nothing to help. I know I can fly in my imagination, go to different places in meditation and dream very real things but my dreams are based on this "perception of reality" this one right here --><-- you see it where the two arrows meet. I bet everyone else will be able to see it too right where they meet. Why do I always wake up on Earth why not Zerton?? WTF is Zerton? WtF is Earth?
You see, the way we currently understand the world is flawed and the way it really exists is [Extremely stupid vaguely spiritual explanation that I somehow have access to but my access certainly doesn't contradict the crux of my initial argument (that our perception is very limited)] Well, you might not understand. Try going to India, or a gift shop, to get in touch with The Fundamental Oneness That IS actually Waves
This is such horrible stuff. Whoever ends up believing in such stuff deserves to suffer in confusion. Why use language if you're going to abandon the basic logic implied by it.
@MrGR8S8N Open your mind and see that what you call "logic" is actually just Waves, Oneness, The Spirit God, The Summation Of The Consciousness Of All Indian Men (ONLY SPIRITUALLY ENLIGHTENED ONES) , Love Beads, Quantum Physics Paradoxes That I Have Deep Understanding Of Even Though I Failed Out Of High School, Exotic Sounds From The East, Holograms, Sufficiently Advanced Technology That Is Indistinguishable From Magic, Soothing Ocean Noises. If only you could Really See
This is Soooo Lame. Philosophical bullshit to escape reality. Technology is an extension of your senses regardless of what it is, Eyeglasses or microscopes it is a tool we use to enhance our sensibilities. If we ignore what is plain before us for an illusion of bullshit philosophy then truly bullshit does baffle some brains!
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the begining with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darknes, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John:1-5. Glory to God and His Son Jesus Christ, Amen.
@Mrsunny649 jesus was born to a virgin, his father was actually himself, but his mother was a virgin. when he died the death planned by his father/himself, he then came to life after death. sounds like a zombie. he then has eaten the brains of all believers. yep, zombies eat brains. and then turn other into zombies by eating more brains. sounds like the christianity virus. yeah..
what a waste of time. the fact that our sense of reality is limited by our perceptions does not in any way lead to the conclusion that there must be a creator. I believe the "logic" presented for that conclusion was that our perceptions must be continuously fed with information and the only way that is possible is if there was a creator. Can someone explain to me how that makes sense?
@Pubert1282 Thankyou for pointing out this obvious fallacy. This film curbed left hard and quick. I was willing to entertain this for the whole hour but after that little horror at the end there I'm going to go puke and curl up.
It says that because you could remove your brain and still perceive it as matter, that your brain is also a perception. But what if you were to cut the nerves that dictated feeling/touch? Then you would no longer be able to feel your brain. Therefore, altering your brain directly alters your perception. So then altering your perception of your brain alters your other perceptions? Seems like a logical fallacy in this theory.
Your logic was flawless right up until you started talking about how a creator must have created it. Quantum physics has shown that the observable universe is created by the observer himself. There is no outside agency or creator other than the unobservable observer.
@sigung01 If you experienced what he is talking, it about would mean that your soul would perceive itself and know it could not be accidental. Our problem is words, because we have too many ludicrous associations with labels like 'God' or 'Creator'. Only individual experience is of any value because that's the only way to know for sure. Otherwise is simply opinion.
If I have a headache,do you feel it too? have you ever pretended to be sick just to stay home from school, only to become sick soon after? A strong lucid dream,to me,is THEE most powerfully addictive drug, controlling them is like being master of my own world.
Bullshit again. Dreaming is very different from being awake. Not only is there a stark difference, but you're aware that you're dreaming when you're dreaming, just as you're aware that you're awake when you're awake. It's built into us to know the difference. Good premise, crappy excuse for a documentary.
A fancy pamphlet. Advocating about the basis of first causes. Easiest solution? A creator. Never what created the creator. Intelligent life may be an unintended product of whatever that first principle is, whatever exists before consciousness began. Big-bangism is another form of this kind of preaching in the field of physics. Talbot's holographic universe doesn't dwell on such 'ultimates' and many thinkers have enunciated such theoretical reasoning is a waste of time.
I've watched 2 of the 5 videos in this series. So far I've only encountered trivial and stupid information.
I've watched the first 2 out of 5 videos. So far they have been trivial and stupid. Do I invest any more time on additional videos in hopes it gets better or do I not waste anymore time. Can anybody help me?
Part I made sense. In Part II the maker of the video suddenly throws in the individual soul out of the blue. There's no logic as there was in Part I. Perhaps there is no individual soul; perhaps instead there is one "Universal Mind", "Cosmic Mind", or "Buddha-Mind"...or whatever you wish to call It. Like the individual soul, It is not "provable". In Part II, the video tries to act as though the individual soul is the only logical choice. It isn't.
@RudeCo11 No science can ever reveal the truth...as it is said "the observer can never be observed".....but science can tell the logical mind that it is something we dont know..and perhaps never know....
If quantum physics suggests that there is no matter but energy..then science has come closest to the Divine truth...
What we feel ...we believe ...and science nothing but observation of that believe....if the believe is wrong..whole thing collapses..right?
@dip1410 You don't really know what you're talking about. I asked you to support your previous statement, and until you do that youre entire argument is invalid. If you want to try and support this theory with any actual research go ahead. but you can;t, because there isnt any.
@dip1410 Scientific theories do not create what they are trying to prove, they are simply just trying to put the observable world under a set of rules. example: when newton proposed gravity and gave evidence it didn't mean gravity was any more real.
Another important fact about scientific proof is that it is subjective, we can never be sure that any theory is truth, but we can provide enough evidence that any reasonable doubt is cast away. I never brought up quantum physics btw.
If you throw in the laws of the universe, then you are a bio-chemical creature. You physical brain can be damaged in a traceable way. We know what sections do what, and can predict the type of brain damage a given injury may cause. If your brain dies.. your gone. It's a fun thought experiment... however its just that.
The foundations may be solid, but the explanations are pure conjecture based on the 'then surely' argument. Then surely just means 'I do not see an alternative explanation (nor do I want to listen to one), therefore I will state my explanation as the only 1 possible. Then surely this video is a narrow-minded biased piece of 'maybe'. (BTW, it continuously repeats itself and throws in irrelevant quotes just to confuse the viewer, a typical ploy used by preachers to dumb down their audience ..
Ha ha ha, people are funny. In a couple hundred years, all this quantum physics stuff that we are accepting as fact today will be nothing more than a short chapter entitled, "What People Used to think." You are accepting this stuff as FACT and that is exactly the same thing Newtonians used to think. Keep searching, we are from it….
@dajohnman1234 I think it is better to think that you are just having thoughts without the aid of you main sense- the sense of sight. It is really hard to make rational thoughts without sight. That is what you are doing when you sleep. Its not another reality.
@mustbeburtreynolds I don't know, dude. Doesn't this seem a little too good to be true? I've studied quantum mechanics. This is more like new age speculation than legitimate science. It's interesting. But it's not exactly demonstrable. These things always invoke quantum mechanics, but if you think you understand quantum mechanics, you're just fooling yourself. Sounds more like Cartesian philosophy than science.
@anzwertree If you knew the basics of QM, you'd readily accept the idea that our 3D reality is an illusion.
Everything in the universe is nothing more than overlapping energy fields that our brain absorbs (as light) and computes into a movie for us to watch. All the "ancient/spiritual masters" as they're called (Yogis, shamans, monks, etc. etc.) have known this for thousands of years and lived their lives accordingly.
@mustbeburtreynolds I'm speaking objectively here. I know enough about quantum physics to know I don't understand it. But let's say you're right. If everything is an illusion, how can you trust anything you perceive? It's as if you're saying God is deceptive. If God is deceiving us then how can you trust anything we think we know about him? I'm more inclined to accept what can be demonstrated. I'm not a physicist, and so I'm not going to pretend to understand something I'm ignorant of.
@anzwertree It's not that "God" is a guy somewhere intentionally deceiving us. It's that we're deceiving OURSELVES by pretending that this tiny sliver of the frequency range of light is everything there is.
I'm not claiming to know the meaning of life (although I believe it's to simply live and experience together) or the "point" of the universe, because there doesn't necessarily need to be one. That is the one major flaw of all religions - they make the assumption that there *is* a "meaning".
@mustbeburtreynolds If God created a universe without providing a means to demonstrate the truth value of a given proposition then he has intentionally set things up dishonestly. Say, for example, I created a universe of sentient creatures on my computer, but I didn't provide them with any method of verifying who I am, what I wanted, or that I even exist. That's not a fair system. How can God -- assuming he exists -- hold us accountable to a standard we cannot comprehend? It doesn't seem right.
@Mr2StrokeBEAST There is a giant dinosaur behind you right now, and every time you look behind yourself, it's behind you again. You can't see it because it's always out of your view and your eyes do not allow you to see it. You can't prove that wrong.
The reason the narrator called it a soul, because if he had called it an electromagnetic field y'all would have laughed at him, since you are not bright enough to understand yet or grasp the true nature of reality, he had to speak to you in terms y'all could understand and relate with.
I kinda "sensed" it during the first movie this has nothing to do with the title. Do yuo know what is holographic theory? Such a cheap trick to serve religious stuff to people who are interested in science. Please stop decieving people, though I realize that is the point of religion, but at least in this manner.
Are you guys are not getting it the whole point of the creator or the perceiver is us we are constantly creating the universe around us just by being there to see it or perceive it more to the point.
Right so what's cool to think about is that along long time ago you could of been abducted by aliens your brain removed from your body and then force fed electrical impulses just to believe you are still living your life
This is so misleading. Id like to think I'm open minded about science, philosophy, perception, and spirituality. It's not a creator I have a problem with, it's a "supreme being" I have a bone to pick with, and it's one thing to say it's possible that things are a result of intentional creation, and another thing entirely to say that the process on ALL levels of reality is a result of a "better" or "supreme" consciousness. No ones better just different
@bmores8 that's exactly what I asked when I saw the video.
Also, the analogies seem wrong. To say that our reality might be a dream (exactly like when we actually dream) seems to be a distortion. I don't think this clip has anything to do with the concept of Holographic Universe.
We simply cannot answer how matter was created. We don't have that answer.
This is pseudo-science borderlining on religion. True physical science is based on observation and facts. The ideas in this film are just vague assumtions.
non sequitur! who made the creator? and above all the fact that we percive by senses does NOT IMPLAY that all our identity, our selfconsciousness, our I-self is MADE BY chemestry of our brain, our souIl last until our brain works well, stop feeding the brain or damage it or destroy its neurons with, let's say, alzheimer or other, and you don't have a soul anymore, nor thinking, nor the I, BECAUSE OUR I IS A ORIDUCT OF MATTER, BIOCHEMESTRY WHO THINKS: THIS IS OUR MIND, accept it and be logical
There is no reason to post a long pedantic response to this video. It fuckin blows. Sure its a good mental excercise but jebus christ, its so freakin retarded.
I have been granted the ability to acknowledge the difference between or own brains created world (dreams) and our externally manipulated plain that we all experience. But how do I know you exist?
what runs us(our brain, legs stomach or everythin) is just energy... u mean to say energy waves are soul..there is a difference b/w energy and matter.
according to u everythin is made up of matter. ITS NOT. every thing is made up of energy in form of waves
Was starting to get interesting... Right up to the part about a creator individually manifesting each and every living creature. Then you lost me. Super-conscious? Sure. But imagining a being who wiles away his/her time creating (and magically evolving) creature after endless creature is too much of a leap. It world be like imagining God himself flipping individual DNA molecules all day, or spending his/her time worrying about individual water molecules in our oceans or what all the ocean
So what they're saying is that perception of reality is an illusion created by an external source that is merely transposed within our minds to create a proximal sense of space and time within which...oh no, i've gone cross-eyed!
The Holographic Universe is a concept of that great theoretical scientist Professor Leonard Susskind. Now, whilst Prof. is a great and wise man, not even he could imagine this to coincide with his concept to which he came whilst attempting to counter another question, one posed by Stephen Hawking. It goes without saying that this video and the others related to it which purport to use the words of Prof. to describe this crock of fundamental orificular effluent are somewhat inane.
I swear, you have stupid creationists taking science law and turning it upside down with this stupid video. I thought I was learning something and in the end I just wasted 20 minutes of my life. Thanks you creationist dimwits.
I am a little upset. I am trying to learn more about quantum gravity. and I get duped into this"nothing is real, God makes it all for you to belive" matrix crap. The material is good and presentation was fine, but this is not even remotely close to what it says it is.
PS
If there is a god, or many, science will find it.
Just because images and sounds are manifested through electronic impulses in our brains does not necessarily mean they are inaccurate. In fact, if you believe in the thousands of cases of "near death" or in the "astral projection" now being done thought the globe you would know that the world appears exactly the same when the brain is no longer being used. The senses are lying to us they are just missing some things.
If the creator is a HE then nothing that is not the creator can exsist. I am a female so this HE CREATOR cannot exsist. Do you really think you are fooling anyone?
started out reasonably well then I realized this was an ad for religion.
pity, there's potential in looking at the universe as a kind of hologram, but bringing out your deity doesn't advance scientific or philosophic understanding, it retards it
Very disappointing. While our knowledge of the material world is illusional, given the inelluctable fact that we are hostages of our senses; so, too, is the existence of the Perceiver or the Inner Observer an illusional identity. Serial perceptions give rise to a narrative: what each of us knows as the Self. However disquieting is the discovery, the fact remains that the inner observer -- the Self -- does not exist. Like all else, it too is a product of perception.
Consciousness may not be in one particular area but may exist in all things. For example The One consciousness or if you prefer God it does not matter which term you chose to use its the same really The one consciousness may exist in all energy and matter in every particle in the universe and this is what may be The One or God is so we are all part of this One Its like saying we are The One or God and The One or God is us The One or God is in all things and all things is in the One or God
The problem with this and the matrix is that you don't just perceive from only your perceptions. There is another way to physically detect something. It is your brain itself. If you take part of your brain, the language part, for instance and remove it, you will realize that you have trouble processing information related to the part that is missing. This means that if the brain itself is not real (which I don't think they say that here, but that applies to Matrix) then it shouldn't be effected.
THE THEORY HAS BEEN TOTALLY TAKEN FROM 'BHAGWAT-GITA' NOT SOME GREEK MYTHOLOGY OF GHOSTS, EVEN THE EARLIEST OF THE GREEKS WENT TO STUDY IN INDIA AND CREATED THERE OWN VERSION INCLUDING PLUTO,PYTHAGORAS AND MANY MORE.
LMAO, Is this honestly the best the religious crack pots can come up with??? If the arguement for God has resorted to this bollocks, its time to wake up and realise theres no one there.
Ahh, 240p we meet again.

WHY?

what a waste of time. the fact that our sense of reality is limited by our perceptions does not in any way lead to the conclusion that there must be a creator. I believe the "logic" presented for that conclusion was that our perceptions must be continuously fed with information and the only way that is possible is if there was a creator. Can someone explain to me how that makes sense?
Pubert1282 1 month ago
@Pubert1282 Thankyou for pointing out this obvious fallacy. This film curbed left hard and quick. I was willing to entertain this for the whole hour but after that little horror at the end there I'm going to go puke and curl up.

I'm a little lost.
Seems like a logical fallacy in this theory.
livewire7128 1 month ago
@livewire7128 Altering how the brain perceive alters how the brain can perceive itself. Ultimately we move to a metaphysical matter, consciousness.

cfanderson30 1 month ago
Your logic was flawless right up until you started talking about how a creator must have created it. Quantum physics has shown that the observable universe is created by the observer himself. There is no outside agency or creator other than the unobservable observer.
sigung01 1 month ago
@sigung01 If you experienced what he is talking, it about would mean that your soul would perceive itself and know it could not be accidental. Our problem is words, because we have too many ludicrous associations with labels like 'God' or 'Creator'. Only individual experience is of any value because that's the only way to know for sure. Otherwise is simply opinion.

It isn't.

It is the same thing taught by monks much earlier....there is only one soul....nothing else ...no time no space ..no matter.

dip1410 2 months ago
@dip1410 exactly what science supports this fact?
RudeCo11 1 month ago
@RudeCo11 No science can ever reveal the truth...as it is said "the observer can never be observed".....but science can tell the logical mind that it is something we dont know..and perhaps never know....
If quantum physics suggests that there is no matter but energy..then science has come closest to the Divine truth...
What we feel ...we believe ...and science nothing but observation of that believe....if the believe is wrong..whole thing collapses..right?
dip1410 1 month ago
@dip1410 You don't really know what you're talking about. I asked you to support your previous statement, and until you do that youre entire argument is invalid. If you want to try and support this theory with any actual research go ahead. but you can;t, because there isnt any.
RudeCo11 1 month ago
@RudeCo11
Just tell me ....how can you prove that gravitation exists or not ?
What is more important Truth or proof of that ?
I have really no idea whether Modern physics is giving us truth or illusion...all i know if i dont know the truth i know nothing......
I watched the video to get idea about the illusion around us...not to examine quantum physics advancement....
I am not a physicist.....i am a very ordinary person with very limited knowledge...
dip1410 1 month ago
@dip1410 Scientific theories do not create what they are trying to prove, they are simply just trying to put the observable world under a set of rules. example: when newton proposed gravity and gave evidence it didn't mean gravity was any more real.
Another important fact about scientific proof is that it is subjective, we can never be sure that any theory is truth, but we can provide enough evidence that any reasonable doubt is cast away. I never brought up quantum physics btw.
RudeCo11 1 month ago
If you throw in the laws of the universe, then you are a bio-chemical creature. You physical brain can be damaged in a traceable way. Then surely this video is a narrow-minded biased piece of 'maybe'. (BTW, it continuously repeats itself and throws in irrelevant quotes just to confuse the viewer, a typical ploy used by preachers to dumb down their audience ..

mustbeburtreynolds 2 months ago
@mustbeburtreynolds I don't know, dude. Doesn't this seem a little too good to be true? I've studied quantum mechanics. This is more like new age speculation than legitimate science. It's interesting. But it's not exactly demonstrable. These things always invoke quantum mechanics, but if you think you understand quantum mechanics, you're just fooling yourself. Sounds more like Cartesian philosophy than science.
anzwertree 2 months ago
@anzwertree If you knew the basics of QM, you'd readily accept the idea that our 3D reality is an illusion.
Everything in the universe is nothing more than overlapping energy fields that our brain absorbs (as light) and computes into a movie for us to watch. All the "ancient/spiritual masters" as they're called (Yogis, shamans, monks, etc. etc.) have known this for thousands of years and lived their lives accordingly.
mustbeburtreynolds 2 months ago
@mustbeburtreynolds I'm speaking objectively here. I know enough about quantum physics to know I don't understand it. But let's say you're right. If everything is an illusion, how can you trust anything you perceive? It's as if you're saying God is deceptive. If God is deceiving us then how can you trust anything we think we know about him? I'm more inclined to accept what can be demonstrated. I'm not a physicist, and so I'm not going to pretend to understand something I'm ignorant of.
anzwertree 2 months ago
@anzwertree It's not that "God" is a guy somewhere intentionally deceiving us. It's that we're deceiving OURSELVES by pretending that this tiny sliver of the frequency range of light is everything there is.
I'm not claiming to know the meaning of life (although I believe it's to simply live and experience together) or the "point" of the universe, because there doesn't necessarily need to be one. That is the one major flaw of all religions - they make the assumption that there *is* a "meaning".
mustbeburtreynolds 2 months ago
@mustbeburtreynolds If God created a universe without providing a means to demonstrate the truth value of a given proposition then he has intentionally set things up dishonestly. Say, for example, I created a universe of sentient creatures on my computer, but I didn't provide them with any method of verifying who I am, what I wanted, or that I even exist. That's not a fair system. How can God -- assuming he exists -- hold us accountable to a standard we cannot comprehend? It doesn't seem right.
anzwertree 2 months ago
@anzwertree And we don't know anything about "God". That's the whole point.
