New for 2012 is the SX trim of the Kia Sportage, which has a 2.0L turbocharged I4 engine with 275hp. That's more hp than the Audi Q5 (260hp), or the BMW X3 (240hp). It also has a sport-tuned suspension which improves handling to about the same level as a Q5. Though the X3 still handles better, the ride is also harsher in the X3, especially for daily driving. The MSRP is $27,000, with a fully loaded model costing about less than $30,000, best value for money in a compact SUV!

I try hard and still can't figure out this interest people give to badges... what's wrong with kia? looking at all the esuipments this car had, it's definitely a bargain. I really cant' see why should I get more in debt just to have the VW or the Audi, if I could get a car with practically the same equipments, and half the price...

@kembooo000 funny you say that as this car was designed by Peter Schreyer,he's the guy that designed the TT and other Audi cars.that's probably why it looks like a Q5 from rear angles.

@kembooo000 Driving dynamics, better technology and quality of materials, interior comfort, better performance both on road and off.... Just some of the reasons people would choose an Audi or VW over a Kia. Not that Kia is a bad brand, but there's little point arguing that it lives up to premium brands in all areas. It may be a better value, but that doesn't mean it's a better car.

I would rater have the Toyota Rav4 better, or either the Honda CR-V. the new Kia Sportage doesn't look too bad.

Telescoping steering wheel is an option...wow. And even though its interior is stylish, its a very cheap interior just by looking at the vid i could tell. Although I guess thats sort of expected from a car with this base price, but not from a 30K car. Still good car
