No wonder he's a legend, he has the perfect martial artist build and his techniques are flawless. He could punch three times before a normal human could punch once.
Is bruce a unique individual with a horrendously fast technique in the martial arts world, or is there other martial artist perhaps not known to the western/european world who can move equally fast or faster?
LOOK AT THAT COMBO HE THROWS IN ONE SECOND FROM :29-:30!!! THIS BOY IS SICK FAST!! AND THAT'S NO CAMERA TRICK OR SLOWING THE CAMERA DOWN!! Imaging getting hit by that!!
@butterp7 yeah, but sadly the martial art demonstrated here is aging as the masters of it are, and eventually dying, sad really. many ppl no that move, the problem is they dont no when nor how to apply it. that was a typical wing chun chain punch, designed for extremely short distace, but today u see random wing chun guys start a fight with that so recklessly and throw that punch almost a mile from their opponents... and the outcomes, are really pathedic...
Bruce had the fastest hands and the quickest mind for taking you out or setting you up (attack by draw). Oh and as far as grapping goes when someone grabs you, shove your fingers hard to the eyes or grab ONE of their fingers with your whole hand pull it backwards and snap no more hold, oh I forgot some people play by rules thats not true Martial Arts PERIOD. Read Bruce's book "TAO of JEET KUNE DO"
@peeweesherman Yep, he used knees and even had an excellent ground game too. The reason you dont see it much is because of his fighting preference. To knee someone would also mean that you have to get close to do it., and most likely end up in a grappling match. And Bruce was only like 155lbs and 5'7" so he preferred to avoid that. What he also had was an eye gouging technique where he could puncture your eyes from 6 feet away. Someone step in with a punch, and BOOM no eyes.
@Crillin112 he didnt have an excellent ground game,he got a few lessons with lebell, hayward nishioka and wally jay and then sparred a bit with some of his students who were far from good grapplers, therefore he had a very limited grappling ability.Nobody has a 6ft reach, least of bruce lee, also you cannot practice eye strikes realistically so unless you can land a punch you wont be landing eye strikes
@billysue2 I would like to know where you got you sources, because I know Jesse Glover personally and he can vouch for most of that stuff. My information comes straight from a judo master, from someone who spent personal time with Bruce, more than those guys you mentioned. They didnt know what he knew (very few knew), probably didnt want to find out either.
Bruce did have an eye gouging technique. I didnt say he had 6ft reach, I said that with his speed he cover that much ground
I removed that last comment because it was pretty much irrelevant.
My point is that you can't just say someone doesn't have experience in those areas unless you have a personal reference. You may not know it for sure unless you know ppl who spent that much time with him. Magazines leave out a lot of important information.
So he took some lessons from those guys...it doesnt mean he didnt have any ground game, he just wanted to pick their brains. He was more than qualified.
@Crillin112 look, the only people with great ground games are competive grapplers in submission styles like bjj, judo, sambo and catch.None of his writings give anything other than brief reference to grappling
awsome footage. he was a legend ahead of his time. he is immortal in the minds of men everywhere. if only i could travel through time to train with him...that would be a honor
this guy was so acurate , fast, and powerful he could kill anybody.. bruce lee was all about real life fighting to the death . he could have trained militaries. this guy thrusts his fingers through full cans of coke... remember the old cans aswell they were really thick.. he could take your eye out or thrust his finger through you ribbs or throat.. GAME OVER
@quickmantan i finally see someone said fighting to death. what people compare bruce lee with other is totally wrong. There are different type of fights. theres sport fight and real fight. real fight only last few sec to few min. sport fight is about score and stamina. if you take bruce lee with the best sport fighter in the world in real fight, bruce can kill them in few sec with feel striking move. thats what makes Bruce lee known for. his speed is just another extra,
somebody get the boy some knifes. boy cut quick. i wish he had some knife demonstrations. I'd never be in the same 5mi radius. he could probably rob a bank bare handed if he just beat up the guard for show. shit.
And to think this was Bruce in his early days! WOW!
