  • Seen the movie 30 plus times and equally moved with each. I too can play this on the piano and the melody alone inclined me to name my son, Brian. WIth that said, every time I hear this beautiful song not only do I think of the heart warming story of Brian Piccolo, but, I bring my wonderful son, Brian to mind.

  • I love to listen to the piano being played, it is my favorite instrument to listen to. You have a great style and you play this with great sensitivity. I thik this is one of the all time greatest inspirational songs ever written.

  • I'm not a keyboardist but I liked the feeling in your execution. The lyrics to "The Hands of Time" are heart-rending. "If the hands of time/Were hands that I could hold/I'd keep them warm and in my hands/They'd not grow cold." Michel Legrand really hit one out of the park with this opus. Many thanks for putting this up. The song brings back a lot of memories from what seems now like a kindlier, a better time. Down the arches of the years the music reaches me. Thanks again.

  • it's called The Hand's of Time by Michel Legrand, and Alan & Marilyn Bergman

  • is Brians song book/movie a true story?

  • hello, yes brians song is about a footballer brian piccolo who died of cancer back in the 70s

  • yess it is. he died at age 26 from cancer but gale sayers wasent rly his best friend it was ralph they witched it around so it could be a big story between white and black but brian and gale were still friends

  • Beautifully done...Bravo!

    God Bless You.

  • One of the greatest stories of friendship ever. Sports of all things brings us all together. One of the most moving songs ever played. I cry everytime I see the movie. A must see for anyone.

  • it was sad when brian died

  • I loved your intro, tempo and arrangement of the song. It really emphasized the emotion of the melody. A very sincere kudos!

  • i wanna see this movie so bad

  • If the movie does not make you cry,the song

    will.

  • omg we are almost finished watching it in school. we're at the part where gale sees brian for the last time before he dies. (of course, we had to read the radio play first. :( ) but almost every girl in my class was sobbing! i held it in, but now hearing this song i'm sobbing! a beatiful movie about an unlikely friendship. well, like they say, every great movie has a death.

  • thats awesome I love that song

  • i've got an other version, that's in the beginning more difficult i think :)

  • Stay with it Ryan...you have the gift.

  • BRAVO!! BRAVO!!! The hands of time was recorded by Johnny Mathis...The lyrics can be found on google

  • Good job, but actually this piece is called Hands of Time. ;)

  • You are the second person to have told me that...I've been playing this song for years and years and I never knew it had a proper title like that :P Mainly because the book I have has it simply titled Brian's Song. Still...I find it rather amusing

  • LOL, That's okay, your not the only person to label the song as simply Brian's Song--- But on my sheet music it says as follows...

Hands of Time- from Brian's Song

I guess there's two titels to it. :p

    Nice job playing, sounds great.

  • I have been playing the piano for over 25 years and must say that you are absolutley fantastic. I have been searching for the sheet music for this song and cannot find it.

  • I found the A-flat sheet music on E-bay, but it wasn't cheap... it has been out of print for a while now.

  • Actually, it's called "The Hands of Time," and you should give credit to the composer, Michel Legrand (lyrics by Alan & Marilyn Bergman)

  • The Michel Legrand book i have simply has it titled Brian's Song...with no lyrics

  • just beautiful...i was watching according to jim on ABC when i heard him mention this movie...so it was just random...i should definitely try 2 watch the movie...u play beautifully :)

  • very nice song...but I think you should try to play it a bit softer, especially at the beginning...but I never heard it before, so maybe I am wrong

  • do u know where i can download this song?

  • thank you

  • great job..sad song..thanks..

  • very nice!!! Brian would have loved it!! (Although I am sure he would have to wonder why there was a song connected to him)

  • Yep, very funny. The movie is about a football player named Brian Piccolo, who helped break racial barriers, during a time when racism in this country was very strong. The sad thing is that later in his career, he gets cancer and dies. It's a great movie, I highly suggest it (but get the old one with James Caan and Billy Dee Williams, especialy if you like this song)

  • RyanPLion: I suggest you listen to George Davidson's version on piano of this song, I found his and Michel LeGrands both on iTunes. I prefer George's softer touch on the piano. For me, it has more meaning and sensitivity. LOVED the movie, cry every time, and Laugh so hard too!

Keep Practicing, practice practice! Then you can play it with heart, I know you can do it.
