@PoolDolphin The slide was TASed over 2 and a half years ago, at which time the record for this strategy was a few frames more than 12.5. 12.3 is easy non-TAS (check my channel, I have two different videos), but it requires Mario starting in a special position that costs several seconds to set up. If you've gotten 12.3 without doing that, I'd like to see it.

I once tried a TAS, but it was much more difficult than I imagined trying to break a record. Seriously, I hate when people say that TAS videos are so easy and any scrub can do them, because they really are a lot of hard work.

tool assisted speedruns are really a group effort.. over the years a lot of this stuff gets discovered, and it's just a matter of someone with the time and ability to put all of it together, and try to improve it along the way. it's a hell of a lot of work. much more time gets put into it than what everyone else gets to see in the end.
