the track spinning keeps the sled afloat while pushing it across the water, the skis keep the front up. its tricky to steer and if you mess up and start bouncing the sled will slow and go under. Its not hard to do, my 12 year old races on water
Not very hard to go shorter distances in warm weather. Six or seven years ago a group of us sledded across Moosehead Lake Maine(NH made it illegal then) over 10 miles. My sled was a Viper with the Bender 835 motor but otherwise mostly stock except for a rolled chain case, tunnel extension & a 2"X 144" track. We duct taped over both sides of the cowl & belly pan openings. We crossed over 10 miles in less than 10 minutes & figured we averaged around 65 MPH. Wonder how long it took to go 38 miles?
@70scarrestoguy The commentator says he did it in 52 minutes and 54 second and he had a top speed of 92km/h (57mph) and a average of about 70km/h (43mph).
Mark Maki Went 61 miles in the mid eighties in Elkhart, Indiana. Actually the course was a half mile oval, and unless you went from buoy to buoy you went further than that.
@yamahonkawazuki idk he got a ticket though look it up on google it is from th island view lodge in minnisota they whent all the way to kettle falls its a hour ride going 50-60 in a boat
@akstudios36 but this was a snowmobile the "record" was referring to however it went it was ballsy whether via boat or jetski or snowmobile. got to admit Eh?
@akstudios36 for sure. hell on roads/tracks. if you start to lose it.you chop the throttle, and stop. this one you can do the same thing. but you sink lol
@akstudios36 did in a car. on a flooded road. yes somewhat different. but closest thing to it i guess. momentum keeps you going. more than anything else
@biggesthick18 yeah if your stupid ass was driving it you would have to pull it off the lake, cause you couldnt handle the power of a polaris my friend.
@SpotTheSteez yea true cause all the power from a polaris is used to get to the shop to get worked on . cause i dont got the time to be sitting at the shop waiting for it to be done thats why i ride brp my friend
@biggesthick18 bring rings and pistons buddy. i suppose the polaris just magically glided across this water with no help from a polaris liberty motor you dink.
@biggesthick18 actually yes it would need to start but by the time they got the mustard bucket going the polaris would have roosted the hell out of it and layed waste to the ski doo owner who is on meth for buying junk.
@biggesthick18 its funny how you try to put polaris down after watching this video and saying someone on meth wouldnt even buy one well aparntly smoking meth and buying polaris's helped this guy go across that water with ease. your an imbecile.
I can only imagine what someone standing on the banks were thinking. "Dude... Did you just see that snowmobile going up river?" His buddy prolly said "Dude... Stop smokin that shit. It's bad for you."
@kylejamesbergman is the video up?, seems everyone knows of someone who went further, longer, faster or higher, yet no one will psot a video of it. as a response or whatever . looking forward to seeing it.
SWEET! I've got 3 miles on the river but I don't really have any where else loznger to doit....I just recently got my helmet cam and I have a little water skippin vid on here but now that it's summer here in AK I've got big plans so we will see what happens! Watch my vids!
henry bieda drove his sled 100 miles on open water in 1987 how was this video ever the record ? he also did it on an 87 skidoo safari that still sits at biedaspowersports an i think he reset the world record again at the age of 71

Unless you have GPS there is no way to tell. Because your track is saying you're going 60mph or 100km/h, and you're only going around 30mph on the water or so. I'm guessing
wtf?, i didnt even get one word the narrater was saying like if ur gunna put a vid in french on a mostly english speaking site, convert it to english, but man nice vid, i wish i could do that some day.
On October 25, 2006, Henrik Lodin from Kramfors, Sweden, managed to beat the world record for a long distance run for a snowmobile on water. He drove his Polaris Dragon 600 H.O. '06 on the Angerman River. After 2 hours and 39 minutes, he was back, and the GPS showed 105.74 miles.
