  • Man please. He's NOT a Houston Legend! He's n Atlanta Legend!!!

  • @Bkeeler23 It's true.

  • Good voice from a good man

  • houston rockets have so many great centers in their history olajuwon, mutombo, yao ming

  • He should be in the Hall Of Fame. Considering I am from his home country I support him even more.

  • Hall Of Fame please.

  • Great player, great guy.

  • best blocker all time

  • Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo. one of the greatest defensive players ever. and a cool name

  • I cried when I saw him go down with the knee injury in Portland

  • we'll miss you alot big man. take it easy.

  • he can start a new career as a voice actor

  • nontheless il still never forget this guy he is the best shot blocker in nba's history for me but he deserves to retire he is like 45 or somethin year old

  • monster voice XD

  • WTF IZ HE SAYIN

  • Good buy Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo!

  • what the hell is he saying????

  • When he says its over for my career look at the look in his eyes... although i never saw him play (although it was fun getting 5 blocks per game with him in live 10), i feel and i dont think this is the last we hear of Mount Mutombo

  • A great man

  • he has the deepest voice in the world

  • Greg Oden disliked this shit

  • he reminds me of Tony Todd from "Candyman" :d

  • Smoking too much made him retire so young.....0:59 He can't brethe!!

  • @nick7greek retire so young? lol u ignorant

  • @ChezKaa i was joking:D

  • R.I.P THE FinGer*

  • he should be na horror movie

  • I think it's his voice, but It's really hard for me to take what he says seriously

  • all i heard from him was 18 years thats it, dam shame how his career ended tho

  • dats sad man.

  • what is he saying?

  • mutombo won any ring???

  • One of the best centers ever played

  • Who in the fuck disliked this?

  • @ItsTheCos Greg Oden

  • 0:59 man that sonuds like a lion!!! damn!!

  • smh why does he still sound like this after livin in da states for all these years? Im african too and I speak the same language he does but I sound nothin like him..and I've only been here for 10 yrs.

  • @blackcapone187 if u are already an adult in a foreign country it's difficult to change ur accent, u can only learn another language but u cant be perfect.

  • I am dikembe mutombo from the houston ROCKET.

  • ud thinkk over 25 years in this coutry he would sound a little more fluent

  • @papapapenis he speaks french and his local african tongue so he does not always speak english.

  • Comment removed

  • @papapapenis D.Mutombo speak at least five languages even before he set his feet in the U.S.A. Thus the fact that he speaks English additionally to those other ones, he's brilliant and smart. How fluent are you in other languages? It's actually hard for many adult to adjust their accents, see!! I'm from the same African ethnic group as Dikembe, I'm pretty fluent in English, because I learned to speak it when I was twelve. This man is great and has done what he could for Africa too!

  • @papapapenis He can speak 9 languages. How many do you speak?

  • @LordBizarre112233 whats youur poiint?? i was just saying, hes been here for 25 years and he sounds like a deaf person trying to talk. i know if i lived in a different country for that long i would atleast sound like i know what im talking about

  • @papapapenis What, because he has an accent and a hoarse voice that means he doesn't know what he's talking about? He's obviously very bright and your attempts to make him appear stupid make you seem foolish. Most non-native speakers never speak a second language perfectly. If you ever try to learn German, you'll realize that you'll never speak it without a distinct "English" accent. Speaking Hindi perfectly is almost impossible for non-native speakers.

  • @LordBizarre112233 thats funny because my grandparents moved here from croatia when they were in in their mid 20's and they have very light accents. theyve been here so long that theyve become customed here

  • Batman identity finally unveiled.

  • @ElodyTamTam HAHAHA

  • full name Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo o.O

  • I know it was an accident....but c'mon Greg you damn clutz

  • i didnt understand a thing he said, but a great plyer. respect

  • his voice scores a perfect 100 on the unintentional comedy scale

  • @hockeykidii this aint funny man,this is saaad :`(

  • what the fuck is wrong with his voice?! the accent is bad enough, but JESUS

  • great man, the biggest lost for the NBA after he retired.

  • Great man, he will be missed

  • Dikembe Mutombo, great defensive player. Great man, donated practically all his salary to charities. Mount Mutumbo your presence will be in the NBA

  • COOKIE MONSTER!!!!!!!

  • I don't get why so many ppl here make fun of the way he talks, this guy donated almost his whole salary, he is also a humble and respected player.

We will miss you Mutombo : ' (

  • @MamaIsGizzle His voice is hilarious, however, I'm sure he wouldn't mind us having a bit of a laugh. As long as we stay respectful and acknowledge the great work he's done both on and off the court, it's OK.

  • We will always be with you Dikembe...but never in your house ;)

  • hes the iron man! ^^

  • Mutombo will be back.

  • @Imran500 and so will john belushi.... XD

  • i always wondered why he talked like this if anyone knows please tell me

  • @FoSho091

It is just his voice. Many people from the congo (where he is from) sound like this.

Its a combination of the accent from that area and a very deep voice

  • @SolaceMarine are you sure? cause am born n africa an i've met som people from congo and they did not sound like him

  • @FoSho091

Well of course I could be wrong but living in chicago I have met many taxi drivers from the congo and they sound just like him, but not quite as deep

  • @FoSho091 aha okey thanks

  • you legend :( today doctor told me that i cant play basketbaal agin i torn my acl 3 times and is end for me im 21 years and i know how it hurts

  • man I got so much respect for this man he represented well for all Africans

  • he kinda looks like dj mbenga of the lakers

  • And there goes the last of the great defensive minded centers from the 1990s... SIgh

  • All hail the Great Mount. Ganna' miss you; one of the greatest persons to ever play the game. One of the most respected person.

  • Mount Mutombo

    god bless

  • MUTOMBOOOOO!!!!

  • this is the worst way to retire

  • this interviewers a prick .. hes trying to accept it positively so fucking let him, stop trying to make him feel like he should be upset .. theres nothing he can do about it so it would be immature to not try to move on

  • What a great guy.

  • imagine deke as a head coach?

    it would be amaazzzing

  • You could bet his players would damn well listen to him.

  • So sad to see one of the greatest NBA defensive players ever to retire

  • @MelonMan2431 He was also a super smart guy(especially for a basketball player). He was in a pre-med program in college before he became a basketball player. He also graduated with a double major in linguistics and diplomacy.

  • matumbo is my nick name for basketball i play center

  • why is his voice like that?

does he have a sore throat, cold or something?

or is it just him whos talking normally...

By the way, we'll miss the "House Of Mutombo"...

  • this is the way he talks, you just gotta love it.

  • he is the human brother of Chewbacca

  • y did u go dere lol

  • I swear to god this guy is my favorite basketball player of all time and always has been since I started being a fan of basketball. It sucks so bad that this is how it had to end. He was always effective right up until this injury even in limited minutes. He's an amazing human being as well.

  • its true- elongi na ye na voix efundaka yango moko...

  • howcome no one comment on his voice. it has to be the most unique voice there is. how do u get a voice so deep. i wonder if he had vocal surgery and they messed it up.

  • its fckd

  • he said " when accident happens, u have to accept it" u cant change the past.... he is a LEGEND in the greatest sport: basketball

  • i love you dikembe

  • i shed a tear...

  • When he was young his voice wasnt like that

  • GREAT player. GREAT man. Wish you all the best Dikembe, we are with you, be strong, you are a legend!

  • Yes Sir !

  • dont worry deke your carrer aint over big guy keep fightin

  • Yes Sir !

  • In any religion, in any culture and society people like him are regarded as enlighted Saint!

  • tell me a basketball player who has given over 40million dollars to charity over the cause of his career and building hospitals in congo much respect to him

  • great player hall of fame great guy to bad he had to retire like this.

  • hahah yeah a guy that hasn't recovered fully from surgery, is not in great shape yet, and had foul problems is the worst pick ever after having rookie year better than Aldridge, and better than Dwights in per minute stats, while also having a rebounding percentage with the all time greats.

  • his number is going to retire somewhere, haha! i think Rockets should retire his jersey for what he did for Houston or anywhere else in the world, but he played so many teams, maybe more than one team want to retire his number. i would love to see that, i don't think any other players in NBA history can make that!!! haha

  • i agree...he's one of the most kind hearted guys that has ever been in pro sports.

  • cacalac that "cookie monster" has done more with his life than you will ever do with yours.

  • great person good vid to bad he talks like cookie monster

  • hahahaha

  • wow what a great human being. so selfless...always giving back and never asking for anything in return. i wish him the best and we need more people like this in the world.

  • one of my favorite players ever

  • One of the greatest players to ever play the game. One of the greatest people to ever live on this earth. Deke helped so many people around the world. He gave millions and millions of dollars away and never ever asked for anything in return.

  • This video is beautiful. It brought me to tears. I'm a Mavs fan, but I always wanted to see Mutombo win a title even though he played with arch rival the Houston Rockets. Mutombo is such a good individual and he always showed some heart on and off the court. He always had a smile and he made us basketball fans and countless number of poor people smile. We love you Deke and best of luck with your post-basketball life. Hopefully you'll win the Nobel Peace Price one day with your charity work.

  • dikembe mutombo best blocker ever for me....and finger

  • He is a NBA great and i was so sad to see him fall to his injury like that. He's just a great man. And Greg Oden should been more classy because after all Greg Oden is a mistake for the number 1 pick in the draft. Its so sad to see him go out like this.

  • Even though Mutombo's career is over, his LEGACY remains, he will be the greatest shot blocking finger wagging humanitarian ambassador the NBA ever had, to diss him up is wrong. Show the man some respect

  • Oden is the future?????? OMG, where have you been all this time, Oden was not the past , and will never can be the future in NBA. U r the one should get over your fantasy.

  • benjamin button kind of story is not real. u watch too much movie man. Oden is older than Mutumbo. lol!!!!! he may be one of the worst No.1 pick in NBA history.

  • I am tough but when I watch this video it is hard too it makes me tear up. The only way I can watch this video is to watch it in parts. Dikembe Mutombo you truely be missed.

  • dekembe is such a caring helping person and donates a lot. he is such a great person.

  • Dekembe is an amazing man and has given the rockets much to be proud of...I don't know about anyone else, but I personally will miss his more than words can say... he's has definitely been my favorite player since I can remember...

  • hes a legend

  • CLIPPER NATION says thank you DEKE

  • now that Dikembe is gonna retire can he do voice over work for Animated Films?..his voice is increadable, sounds like an old wise frog that lives in his throat!!...lol

  • ur my favourite player for all time , always remmber ur finger wag

  • True legend.

Thanks for all the joy you brought to the NBA.

    *finger wag*

  • What a class act this guy has been. Thank you Deke! Can't wait for the translated version, LOL.

    GO ROCKETS!!!!

  • too bad i feel for him even though i can't understand anything he is saying

  • thanks for the memories Deke.

  • :'(

  • aw man this makes me so sad

one of my favorite players of all time

  • Thanks for the memories, Deke.

  • Man, that was hard to watch him get injured....

    Future Hall of Famer.

  • I truly think this player is one of the nicest players to ever play the game, always thinking of others but has for becoming a hall of famer i think its judged on what he does in the court great player but i just dont know if he has hall of famer numbers.

  • Dragman - I think he is going to the Hall no question. Here are some stats:

    - eight-time all-star

    - four-time defensive player of the year winner

    - Four-time league leader in blocks

    - Four-time leader in rebounds

Throw in the fact that he changed shots with his mere presence and he is one of the most well-loved and respected players by fans and media, I think that puts him in.

Fans can talk about how he was average on the offenseive end. Then again, so was Ozzie Smith.

  • Dikembe is done man.

  • shaq is next.

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • one of my fav sixers

  • *tear*
