  • I used to wear my hair like that all through Jr High. We have the same textured hair.

can you do more hairstyle tutorials please?

  • What's the name of this "blow dryer" ? Want to buy it :)

  • she is beautiful just like mummy

  • what were the names of the products.....and would they be safe for a 3 yo

  • Thank you for the video. I'm a foster parent and I find it very useful. I've learned alot and I hope to try your ideas with her tomorrow.. thanks for making my life easier...

  • @shaw3421 You should check out kimmaytube's channel. She has many helpful videos and tutorials.

  • that last part was so cute!

  • i especially like the tip about not forcing the comb through the hair but combing as far as you can go then holding the part that you combed through and then finishing the rest of that portion. my mom sure couldhave learned this!

  • I wouldn't think that anyone would consider your daughters hair short in it's natural state. It's obvious that she has a lot of hair. Great hair for creating any of the beautiful braid styles :)

  • @cloverofficialleader when her hair is wet the hair curls up in tight coils and when she blowdried it the heat straightened out the curls.

  • @xIsis21x ooh ik that but i mean like how did she grow her hair up to its length xD

  • how did her hair get so long?

  • im whiite, and i always wanted to have hair like african people...

    xD

  • @xBeautilicious why do you want african american hair?

  • @cherubicnerd Because it's strong, and they have lotsa hair, oh and it's cool

  • @xBeautilicious ok. :)

  • @xBeautilicious the fuck...

  • @keyseric fuck.

  • wow u so good tech my momma that

  • @97dothedew

If u have black hair, i would initially recommend going to a professional that knows how to care for black hair. Once in a healthy state and you learn the proper things to do, then you can continue on your own, but watching YouTube alone will not work.

  • @jacienz

There is no one way to care for black hair, just different techniques. U Have to do what works for your hair. There is great accurate advice being given in this video. Besides, the young lady has healthy hair w good length, I am sure she is doing the right things for her hair.

  • Love love love this!

  • Wow! Can't believe that her hair was double the length after blow-drying; impressive!

  • this is one of the best videos on natural hair care I have seen. I am an older African woman and have decided over two years ago, no more chemicals and now I know how to take care of my natural hair much better thanks for you!

  • Lol I always found it strange that the hair is referred to as "african american hair" do you lot have some different type of hair that African people in the islands, africa and europe don't have.

You do know that there are African descendants outside of the USA right?... Right

  • @Viperveteran lol i know,too funny.

  • @Viperveteran yea ur right its afro textured

  • @Viperveteran african american is better than saying african because you'll think that we're from africa.

  • I am an African American woman, and I stopped getting relaxers just last May, so my hair has been in it's natural state for about a year (Yea me!!!). Like so many girls, I got a relaxer at a young age, but I am so glad to be back to the hair that God gave me. No more relaxers for me! Loved the video!

  • Please do not let your daughter get a perm or an relaxer when she's a teenager.

Her hair is beautiful ! I have black friends and they had hair like her's when we were

younger and as soon as we became teenagers they got perms and such

and i stayed natural and they always tell me, they WISH they had stayed natural.!!

  • If only my family knew how to take care of my hair. I guess since they're latino, they don't really have much experience or care for afro-textured hair.

Pff. And people relax their hair.. No need to go through all that.

  • OMG her hair s gorgeous

  • in my house you will find about 12 combs just like on 2:41 all over my room!! lol

  • so cte! wow she has alot of hair! DO MINE DO MINE LOL you know my hair is short. your daughters hair is like 4 or 5 or 6 more inches longer than mine lol :D

  • so cte! wow she has alot of hair! DO MINE DO MINE LOL

  • Thanks for this. My daughter is having a princess party this week and we're doing princess hair buns. Three of her friends are African American and I wasn't sure how to do their hair. You made it seem so easy(fingers crossed). One question. Do I have to blow dry their hair? I was planning to spray with water and detangler. Then comb in gel and roll into a bun. A stylist at Cosmo Prof recomended It's A 10 Miracle Leave-In. Your thoughts? Thanks.

  • Isn't that a SHAMPOO comb??

  • How come you didnt use a heat protectant when blow drying/her hair? You mentioned that the dryer get VERY HOT.. Shes was so cute at the end, Her hair is very thick and healthy looking

  • Simone@ not all African American females can do that heat is only harmful when you use it allot. I am black and if I tried that my hair would never get straight. I am 30 and I am just wearing my hair with a press I prefer over a perm.

  • one type of shampoo and conditioner do you use, i also 10 and my hair is very dry and has no moisture!

  • i wish my mama was as non rough as u! she pulls!

  • I never put a relaxer or perm in my hair. I get my hair pressed. I like getting it done that way rather than putting harmful chemicals in my hair.

  • I wish my mom knew this im half black, but I have the hair she got me a relaxer when I was 9 or 10. Im 13 now but my hair is really short and keeps falling out. Dose any one know wat I could do for it to stop?

  • @97dothedew You should try following peaple on youtube like ulovemegz of kissseventyseven or maybe go natural and ask your mom to learn better healthcare practices by following websites like happygirlhair or go on youtube and follow kimmaytube or taren916 they're all people that can give great advice about how to take care of your hair, your mom shouldn't feel bad it's really something one must be taught.

  • I love all of my natural sisters but I don't agree with her methods heat is a definite no no! an easier way 2 straighten hair would be to roller set it while wet

  • I love all of my natural sisters but I don't agree with her methods heat is a definite no no!

  • Great video

  • i wish my mom didnt perm my hair i love black hair..... mine is on my knees but i want it thickk like natural black hair

  • It looks fun to comb an African hair , so soft and fluffy. <3

  • Comment removed

  • my hair isn't like this mine is relaxed but mine still curls up and it don't break my hair is also very very long so really if i didn't want to where a afro and ponytail everyday i had get it relaxed because hot comb and flat iron seemed to just strech it in sted of makin it flat.

  • Nice video and helpful tips!

Do you in mind know the products she used in this video?

    Thank you

  • ugh i wish my mama never put a perm iin my hair

  • Thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooo much. I have been needing some assistance in taking care of kinky hair. My daughter has long hair and very very course and I have been wanting to apply some type of heat and now I know the technique. I thank you again and will follow these steps. I believe this is what I have been looking for.

God bless you honey because you did that.

  • Yellow Bird!

  • this is nice.

this is exactly how i do my hair.

i also trim my own hair.

after you do all of tht you can either braid or put the hair in a weave.

i luv doing my fiancees hair kuzz he has hair just like hers. a lot of ppl think you kant get afro american hair straight, but you kan.

you just have to have the right hair products and hair supplies.

    sexyTAH

  • Now this is good media! Good to see a state like Arizona showing how to properly treat the naturally growing hair from an African American's hair. You have stretched beyond most main stream media for that - kudos to you. I';; tell all my contacts in Arizona to check our Ms. Arlette if they can. Thank You.

  • great great great video! absolutly great video!

  • Loved this. Thanks for posting

  • Beautiful daughter and I love her big smile

  • thank u soo much

  • i wish i kept my hair natural instead of relaxing it :(

I'm only mixed race but i have very black hair and i used to hate it. I miss it so much now though.

  • Not all african american children have tight hair.!...

  • @allnaturalcrown1 no need to get all offended

  • @Totalmachine09 lol...sry for da exclamation point...but someAFRICAN AMERICAN/BLACK/AFRICAN is loose

  • so can we blow dry once a week as long as we add a heat protectant and cream after blow drying?

  • lol at 5.9 :p Nice hair!

  • oh my gosh i wish i still had my natural hair and this gurl reminds me of me when my hair was natural

  • My daughter had that type of hair untill i place a texturizer in it. What should I do to get her hair back healthy and natural and how long will it take? Please help 911

  • Thank You so much. I am a foster parent and just got 2 little girls ages 4 and 6 years old and have no idea what to do with there hair. ( I am white and the girls are african american). This was very helpful. Thank You again :)

  • You have a beautiful daughter--beautiful hair, beautiful smile. We don't realize until we get older what a bonding experience mother-daughter hairtime is. Thanks for sharing.

  • She's so cute! But my hair is nothing like hers, mine is longer not as thick and really curly... Maybe it's because I'm mixed with alot of different things.

  • wait she's 10????...that's the biggest 10 year old I've ever seen!!! lol....but her hair is nice and thick!!...NEVER PERM IT!! =]

  • If your climate is dry, try using a vegetable glycerin spritz mixed with a natural oil. The glycerine is a humectant and will draw moisture to the hair. Please don't let the climate control the health and cleanliness of your hair and scalp.

  • please let my record speak for itself..I wasnt educated on natural haircare on youtube I am 47yrs.with 30yrs of exp. check out my videos all hair is natural and healthy, all weaves are sewn in (NO GLUE) cloggs pores&hair cuticle..natural hair care has many components other then product use..youtube promotes products. I will show you how to achieve healthy hair. hair and scalp has its own oils too much product usage results in more frequent washes..robs natural hair moisture..30yrs.guys

  • I have read some of the comments that posted on my video.. I have 2 daughters that have healthy heads of natural non chemically treated hair.I do think that people have diffrent needs for washing thier hair..2 weeks is normal to maintain healthy hair.Arizona is a dry climate and you are less to perspire not to mention the water is hard here.I have been in business for more than 30years and I havent lost a client nor do my clients have broken or dry hair. thx 4 your feedback

  • there is so much misinformation here, idk why the state of Arizona is setting people up to fail...

  • @prettypuff1

It is true a lot of the information is wrong, hair should be washed at LEAST once a week, and moisturized daily, people think that washing the hair every 2 wks or so is good. It is not - I wash my hair at least 3 times aweek and my hair grew > 5 inches since september . another thing is that that the hair should be detangled with either the finger or a wide tooth comb with lots of conditioner in the hair. and a deep conditioner should be done whenever the hair is washed.

  • @prettypuff1 fail how?

  • her hair is beautifuf?

  • uhhhh washing your hair every 2 weeks is nasty... I am a black with coarse hair and I was it at least once a week. And I use tons of conditioner to comb through hair.... meh... different strokes for different folks, but don't take this video as gospel.

  • She has beautiful hair but you give some inaccurate information in this video. Black/dry hair needs water water and more water. My hair thrives on co-washes 2-3 times per week. Also, that is by no means a wide toothed comb. Please research co-washing and water for dry hair. Ithink you will reconsider your stance. Beautiful daughter and beautiful hair!!

  • @SGmom2 i am sorry... but not washing your hair for 2 weeks is a little disgusting. maybe i am being ignorant, but isnt that just rather unsanitary?

  • It is unsanitary indeed but unfortunately we have been taught by generations of misinformed mothers. Heck, I didn't know better until I went natural and started researching. The difference in my hair now with frequent co-washes is like night and day. My scalp use to itch constantly and I would just put more petroleum based grease on it. I was suffocating my scalp and hair. All it needed was water.

  • I also love that SHE loves her gorgeous puff. I miss having hair like that :(

  • her hair is so yummy :D

  • Cute! Nicely done. Sweet girl :-)

  • what are u feeding her.. can i have sum to.. she looks like 20suthing

  • thats not an afro or wide tooth comb and there is something you can do to make hair not revert beside chemicals, heat damage which is why heat protectors are always good. She has a nice length of hair though

  • Haha. WRONG! Would not let this woman touch my hair.

  • You did a great job with her hair. It inspires me to keep transitioning. How do you deal with Arizona's hard water as a natural?

  • Wow, mom you did an excellent job, seeing this video truly makes me want to go natural! Good Job

  • I have african-american hair too!

my mom is going to style it today.

  • luv this one...so natural, so beautiful..u r a super mama...bravo!

  • Glad you enjoyed it!

  • @RAKmagazine why cant you leave it natural? do you need to blow dry?

  • Very Great video! Thanks Arlette!!

  • lol the last time my mom blowed dried my hair like that the comb teeth came out

  • i love this video!!

  • I loved making it! thank you for watching!

  • shes so cute!

  • cute and nice healthy hair

  • Jewell and Arlette were great- and I learned so much about A-A hair from making it. Beautiful!

  • @RAKmagazine I would like to know something. My daughter is 3 years old and her hair is thinning at the edges. Is there anything i can put on there to get the hair on the edges to grow back? If so what can i use? Please be sure to let me know. Thank you.

  • Thank you for showing that harsh chemical relaxers are NOT necessary for styling this hair type and that caring for kinky Afro-textured hair (whether it's a child OR an adult) doesn't have to be difficult. Jewell's hair looks gorgeous.

  • i loved making this video, learned a ton and just loved watching Arlette work with Jewell's hair. They were a lot of fun!
