  • What happened?

  • i seen it...it was sad

  • I SAW her she was at 0:26 at a pause poor girl

  • At least have the respect to spell her name right. Everyone- ou have a full keyboard. Use it. Her name was never 8 Belles. Her registered name was Eight Belles.

  • the 29 female horse to race... she came second to big brown which was a big deal but the sadly after the race she collapsed due to two shattered ankles in the front end of the horse, it is sad she was a Beloved filly and we were all rooting for her all the way R.I.P Eight Belles :'( we will always remember you

it was human stupidity which could have prevented this ='(

  • HOJE 3 ANOS SEM EIGHT BELLES EU A AMO, REST IN PEACE, : ( anderson do BRASIL

  • The incredible thing here is how slow she (and the others) are moving at that point.

  • 0:25 - 0:28 poor belles

  • I love Eight Belles. She was my first favourite race horse. :((.

  • if you pause it at 27 it shows her laying down :( poor girl.

  • I think that if a horse falls, the other horses should all slow down. The race should end.

  • @anniehorselover She fell after the race was over.

  • woah woah woah at the last second you saw her walk up she didnt get back up after she fell !

  • @ABCDEFGHIJA124 um i di dnot see her get back up......

  • bless her she was relly good :( x

  • The jockey was pulling her up as they naturally do after a race. But don't go around saying that all jockeys don't pull their mounts up when they feel they are injured because they do. Edgar and Barbaro, Mike Smith and Prairie Bayou etc...

  • she was fine she had a habbit of clipping her heels comming off the pace and she did at the derby and she broke her ankles and went down it was sad but there was no humans at fault it was a freak tradegty tht is very sad and pple who say her trainer drugged her their full of it horses at this level arent drugged or abused they keep them healthy because they are worht so much and the bond tht the owner and trainer shares is so strong that if somthing happens its devistating

  • actually Eight Belles' front left ankle was fractured and Larry Jones wasn't really wanting to put her through the Derby, but he didn't know how bad her ankle had gotten. Sources have said that she ran herself to hard, however other sources are describing the tragedy as the jockeys fault. Whether those sources are correct or incorrect..my theory is she will always be remebered for doing what she mostly loved doing.!

    R.I.P. Eight Belles

  • then how did the other one break im not saying ur wrong but just do u know how her other ankle broke

  • From other sources explaining that when her fractured ankle collapsed it caused her other ankle to pop out of place causing a bodily movement of falling frontward and colliding. and thanks for being modest.

  • She looked amazing in that take looked like nothing was wrong with her... it was just wierd

  • they are allowed to give the horse(it varies from one racetrack to another)specific amounts/types of drugs. belles may not have been able to feel when she was pushing her body too hard.this is one of the reasons i dont support racing.i dont like the training methods and racing/starting such young horses (in general!) to be fair, there are some trainers who now start their horses at 3 lightly and don't race them till they are 4, but they're literally 1/10000.i wish racing we more regulated.:^(RIP

  • You know, I think the outcome for the horses in racing would be quite different if jockeys pulled their horses up when they didn't feel 'right'. I'm sure this little mare didn't feel very good to her rider once she passes the post (or before), so why didn't he stop her? She wouldn't have fallen, could have been rested and saved..

  • I know. I beleive that too.

  • DumpOnYourFace, that was mean, heartless, cruel, uncalled-for and just generally not nice! Got any more?

  • What did they say? the comment was removed i couldnt see it or i would say something

  • so after she fell did all the horses come to a stop or like just the ones behind her?

  • no they kinda galloped around her i think.

  • ooooh thanks.

  • OMG, she looks so.........good in her last moments running!

  • DUMPONYOURFACE, ALL US YOUTUBE'S WANT TO BEAT YOU DEAD YOU DICKHEAD!!!! WHO WOULD SAY THAT!!!!!? NOT A REAL PERSON...

WROT IN HELL U CRUEL PERSON!!!!

[[ i dont care if you all think this comment is rude.. his was ruder and un-called for! you can thumbs down my comment, if you want, i was just saying what i felt.. cause it was not like a person to say that!!!! HORSES ROCK !!]]

  • I think it heartless to assume you know what was going on in my head. If you were there, I'm sure you would have noticed there was a lot of confusion about what happened. Nobody was expecting a horse to fall. did you even read my comments and description? this was taken with a small digital camera. I didn't even know I had video of her on the ground until I viewed it on the computer. even then, it is barley visible. I only posted it because I thought it may be important to some people.

  • @jfinan71

um.....i cant see where she fell i read your description. this makes me sad. this reminds me of ruffian's and barbaro's injuries. but um at .26 which horse was she? i cant tell which one she is. like what number is she?

  • @SuperVancouverBC I know, It's hard to see...I didn't know what was about to happen, nobody did. She is the 3rd horse to pass (green number, jockey has white and red silks) about 10-11 seconds. At 26-27 seconds you can see a dark horse laying down by the rail in the distance. At that time nobody even knew a horse had fell. She was a beautiful horse with a lot of spunk.

  • @jfinan71 Read about her sire, Unbridled's Song when you get a chance. He throws fast, precoious, and fragile foals. 3 others of his, including Midshipman, were all injured on the Triple crown trail. The article is on Wilkepedia.

  • @SHELLMADDE I didn't know that, thanks I'll check it out!

  • @jfinan71 Even if you cant see the fall it is good to remember that this was her LAST 100 yards tht she will ever run! Its for memories more than seeing what happened! I mean honestly i think that it is absolutley horrific seeing the actual colapsing moment. :) R.I.P Eight Bells~

  • oh wait pause at 26 there is 2 blobs i think one is her laying down and the other is a horse in the distance

  • were was the fall? it was cool that you were there too!

  • YOU HEARTLESS...

  • i am I heatless all i asked was were the fall was! i didn't see it and i thought it was kool that this person was there! i am super sad sadder than you can think about 8 belles!

  • i couldnt see the fall at 26

  • It's hard to see, she is already laying down by the rail at 26-27 seconds. no one was expecting it, so I didn't even know it had recorded it until I looked for it later.

  • wow you where there??wow i wish i was

  • It made be cry when I saw what happened to her.. I couldn't believe it, she was my favorite and man.. Why did it have to be her?

    -sigh-

  • me too, it shook me up for days. I felt guilty that she ran her heart out for our enjoyment :(

  • Yeah.. and what really pissed me off is when she fell down they took FOREVER to show what was going on. All they cared about was that horse that one.

In my mind I think a horse that's hurt needs more attention that the one that won ._.

  • @RinSere But that's not how racing works because that's not how it's financed =(
