  • leif garrett covered this cool song.

  • As there was already a band called Jigsaw in Australia, this song was released here under the artist name "British Jigsaw".

  • I MCed for this band a number of times in the 1970s - A1 Club Wittering, and assorted venues around Peterborough - great band and great live act.... I dont know if I dare mention 'Great balls of Fire - but the band would know the joke!

  • Great one hit wonder. Makes me want to watch an Evil Knieval Jump next, followed by a Six Million Dollar Man episode. The seventies were awesome!!

  • Phil Collins drummed and sang too

  • Michael waldren from nevada played drums and sang tooo

  • Great song!

  • How come the Bass/guitarist are right handed then in the next scene left handed...........LOL, great song though

  • i love these song.

  • It was the theme song from The Man From Hong Kong. The Asians who have fled to the West love this song, especially those from Hong Kong.

  • love it!!!!!

  • Great Song by a Great Band. the 6 losers can go die for all i care. Don't know great music when you hear it.

  • ilike the cheese plant

  • I remember this being released and thinking it was quality. If you listen with good headphones you can hear a full brass section and a string section in the background which makes this a "classic" 70's hit.

  • Ahh ... the carefree days before the health PC brigade banned smoking and closed down all our cherished pubs and sports & social clubs. It brings a nostalgic lump to my throat.

  • great song for '75,sounds good today as it did back then.Rare that drummers sing lead but Karen Carpenter,Phil Collins are 2 i know of.

  • Didn't they play Top of the Pops back then? Would like to see it...

  • I would hear it all the time when Ilived in Germany. Radio Luxembourg use to play it nonstop. The song sounded great then and still does today.

  • I love how so many Japanese variety shows use this song...

  • Great horn section... Especially at the end.

  • brings back takeing my then girlfriend to the movie... over 30 years ago... and we are still great mates... love the song

  • GREAT VIDEO! I love the plants in the background :D

  • Great "70's" song........Thanx for the Post..

  • I knew this son for Alberto del rio (Dos caras jr in this song)

  • Isto é bom demaisssss !

  • I always thought a dark skinned lady sang this song ! lol ..

  • One of the One Hit Wonders that was iconic frrom The 70's. I can see why people liked it back in 1975; IT DOESNT SUCK!

  • Song is wonderful, the video is lousy. But then again who knew ahead of time this somg would go "sky high" worldwide on the charts. Plus MTV was six years away. Shame this was their only big hit.

  • I wish i could find more of this kind of great music. Very nice.

  • DAMN I HOPE NONE OF MY R'B FRIEND DONT SEE THIS COMMENT, BUT I ALWAY LOVED THIS TUNE.

  • LOL, I woke up this morning with this song in my head (for whatever reason)... I too thought it was a black gal who sang it !! Love YouTube. Even at 47, I learn something new every day.

  • They all look they are having a great time back in '75. Cheers.

  • I never would have guessed that was a dude singing that song! I always pictured a black woman.

  • I love this song!!!!

  • theme song of an action back from 1971

  • The wasn't really half bad, if you could get over the fact that it was pretty much a disco version of "Toast and Marmalade for Tea", which was already a better song.

  • Love this song, but I have to say that before I ever knew the name Jigsaw, I swore it was Paul McCartney song. Sounds like him a bit.

  • Great song!

  • The song does still have movement after these decades. But the video...it looks like a homemade paste-together. Look again... it is five or six do-loops taped together, done on the cheap by the band.

  • Back when flying -- and music -- were fun.

  • kollegah der boss

  • The ONLY song to have on your Ipod in Honkers Airport.....thanks guys!

  • Yes, this is a very happy song. I remeber instantly liking it, when I first heard it back in the 70's. It would be good if they could still tour or teach talented Singers and Musicians to play and sing turnes like this, now. People would be happier.

  • I used to see Jigsaw quite often they were a brilliant band great musos and very entertaining just have been much bigger than they were

  • epoca de ensueño!

  • This was such a happy song in happy time.

  • Happy days with great music...I remember bying this 45 in Margate.

  • the Aussie movie referred to in gnowangerups70s intro. is Australia/Hong Kong 1975 co-production "The Man from Hong Kong" (known as "The Dragon Flies" in US) starring George Lazenby. This one off ozploitation meets kung fu action flick was not based on "Sky High" but the song was the film's main title theme & became closely associated with it... in Australia (& maybe Hong Kong?) at least! This unique collaboration was restored by the National Film and Sound Archive in Canberra a few years ago.

  • Great music! This is the kind of music we need today.

  • Not much out of the disco era turns me on but this is an exception.

  • Rare to see a drummer singing lead vocals.

  • @GypsyFairy85 Night Ranger is one also

  • @LooseByte

Yes! Sister Christian. Also The Romantics and The Eagles on some songs.

  • @GypsyFairy85 Phil Collins ... Genisus .. ;)

  • @GypsyFairy85 Not really. I can name a couple more and they all stated in the 70s. Roger Taylor, Phil Collins, Don Henley, The Romantics, and another which escapes me at the moment.

  • @GypsyFairy85 Here's a few more for ya! Phil Collins, Levon Helm, Don Brewer, Peter Criss ?, Arron Gillespie, Jimmy Sullivan, Brandon Saller & Me until cigarettes took its toll on me. Just wanted to point that out to ya!. Have an awesome Rocking day!

  • @GypsyFairy85 Don Henley, Levon Helm, Roger Taylor, Phil Collins, Dave Grohl, Jim Capaldi, Buddy Rich...

  • @GypsyFairy85 Don Henley did in Hotel California but it is always good to see because drummers are not always known as singers.

  • @GypsyFairy85 your right only a few don henley phil collins karen carpenter .and a couple more.

  • back in the day, my mum dated the bassist's brother ;)

  • I hurtled out and bought this single when it first came out. It was a fantastic number then and has certainly stood the test of time. Had a huge crush on Des Dyer at the time, but he never leapt out of the poster hanging over my bed and ravished me (sigh!!)....

  • had this song in my head the other day at work!!

  • Nice comment Des, I've alway's loved your vocal's. I alway's thought you sounded like John Miles back in the day. Great record mate....

  • Des, cool for poping up! Great song, cheers!

  • que gran cancion y que buen video son buenos

  • Great song! One of my all time favorites from the 1970s. Wish this song was played on the oldies stations. Nice threads Jigsaw guys!! ;-)

  • One of the very, very best of all times..terrific!!

    thanks

  • @MagicGem12

This song is such a classic.

  • @MagicGem12 thats cool

  • Dosent it seem that this song explains almost all relationships???????

  • Mark David Chapman on guitar

  • Mark David Chapman on guitar LOL

  • @ramabima Actually, his name is Tony Campbell, and he is a monster player.

  • I always thought a girl sang this song, then again, every song sounded like a girl singing on 93 KHJ AM radio, thanks to Machine Gun Kelly.

  • I remember listening to this song with my mom on the old record player with headphones!

  • Great songs never die - thank you for posting :)

  • This was my favorite song when I was a little girl- ironic! My fiancee' left me last night and this song came to mind. Thanks for posting it.

  • Such a fun song. Love it. The singer does sound like Lamahl from Kajagoogoo and a little McCartney-esque.

  • man i love the background orchestra arrangement, horns, violins almost like sound effects for the lyrics you have to listen with a good pair of headphones to pick it up awesome !

  • @stangfever04 richard hewson did the arrangement..he had a hit himself...as the rah band...the crunch..great stuff

  • much respect for anyone who sings and plays drums pretty hard to do,phil collins and kelly keagy from night ranger are also some of my favorite artist because they play drums and also sing.

  • Great song! Thanks for posting!

  • Great song! Thanks for posting video!!!

  • CLASSIC SONG,THEY DONT MAKE EM LIKE THIS ANYMORE.

  • Another timeless classic :-)

  • Im a punk music guy and I like this a lot !!!

  • Is that Corky from "Life Goes On" on the guitar? The downs syndrome kid?Jokes aside a very cool song from 1975 and I remember it well.

  • Mil Mascaras' theme and this song rocks!

  • a great example of a song being far superior to the movie this song still makes the hairs stand up on my neck pure magic from a simpler time long live the 70s

  • Did anybody else notice the guitar players were ambidextrous? :)

  • I was 9 years old when this was very popular. We would travel from St Charles, Illinois to the vacation home in Wisconsin; and all the while listening to the Big 89 WLS with John "Records" Landecker out of Chicago. Excitement! It still sounded good out of one speaker AM radio in the 1974 Oldsmobile Omega.

  • One of the first 45 RPM records I bought as a 14 year-old in early 1976. An absolutely awesome song. Thanks for posting it,brought back a lot of memories!

  • A timeless British Classic!

  • Muito bom !

Aqui no Brasil poucos conhecem essa musica.

  • Furthermore Des, we are probably about the same age - perhaps I may be a little senior to you! What the heck - those Hedonistic days - and strangely enough - in a truly innocent manner - unlike today! No stimulants to dance to this - not needed! If only we could turn back time for the youth of today!

  • A tune so underated in its day! - but I still have it on vinyl and video - will never part with it!

  • I Never get tired of listening to this song. :)

  • loved this music in the man from hong kong with george lazenby

  • Jigsaw hit #3 in Bilboard, 12-6-75. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • One of the best radio hits of the decade. Such fun, great rhythms, voices and it's just terribly infectious...LOVE it and always have. Thanks for Jigsaw for this fantastic slice of music history. Cheers! :)

  • The Montauk Project!

  • Great song i love hearing this song in my basement in my dads room on the pioneer DX speakers it sounds amazing.

  • Vocalist sounds like Limahl from Kajagoogoo.

  • I recall when this was released. Great song. Seeing the vid, it looked like they were either in Hawaii, or Florida, hard telling. The drummer singing there looks like that '70s teen idol Shaun Cassidy LOL

  • Blown round by the wind thrown down in a spin.

I gave you love I thought that we had made it to the top

I gave you all I had to give why did it have to stop.

You've blown it all sky high by telling me a lie.

Without a reason why you've blown it all sky high

    ..............................you...............................

You've blown it all sky high our love had wings to fly.

We could have touched the sky

you've blown it all sky high.

Up round I've flown then down down like a stone.

  • I have loved this song since 1977. I still do. Try listening to the long version . The Man from hong kong theme, here on you tube. It's much longer, about almost 5 minutes.

  • @Sarasdad91 are you sure that teh song is from 1977? disco was big in that year

I've always thought that the song is from 1975

  • @Freyja1133 It may be from 1975, it's just that 1977 was the 1st time I heard it.

  • @Sarasdad91 I understand

  • @Freyja1133 I blew you sky high in 1975 but I am still waiting for you to shoot your load!

  • @KarenEngSwallows Cute Karen

  • @Freyja1133 : this song WAS released in 1975. I was in my last year of junior high - it was quite memorable.

  • @RitzyTrailer I still was in jr hgih was the song was released

    Great memories

  • disco is not nor does it suck

  • Needs more plants...

  • I was only 4 when this came out ... but I remember it as the theme song from "The Man From Hong Kong". At the end, the hero hangglides away, leaving the bad guy trapped in a sky scraper with a grenade taped into his mouth ... " you've blowing it all sky high...." Awesome 70's Movie & Music combination.

  • thanks for this song des this song sounds as good as the day you released it fantastic

  • I swear to god people were a different species in the 70s.

  • I still have my 45rpm of this fantastic song. I think the flip side is Love Fire, luv that one too.

  • Answer to RobG765 's question. We toured Australia in the winter of 1975 and were surprised to find that there was another band in Australia called JIGSAW. Our Australian record company, EMI, decided to brand us BRITISH JIGSAW to avoid confusion. We were only in Aussie for about three weeks but we had a great time! Cheers....Thanks to every one else for such great comments about our song. Des Dyer (Lead singer)

  • @DesDyer Thanks for the great music! 'Sky High' is one of my favorite songs.

  • @DesDyer saw you in hanley...baileys nightclub circa 75/76...totally brill..bought all albums i could....seen the film, brokenhearted, pieces of magic, aurora borealis...great songs..e'n got three early singles on music factory and mgm..and loads of singles..i also remember the aussie jigsaw...no way as good...fantastic ..respects Des..i feel your low point was eurovision..small blip...what you doin now..love to know as the band were a huge part of my teen yrs..regards John

  • @DesDyer Hi Des, I always associated this song with Australia - back in 1987, ten years after release, I was studying in China. There was a school mate from Australia who played it alot. Sort of stuck in my head that way - also "Man From Hong Kong" gave it another interesting twist to my travels.

  • @DesDyer I love this song soooo much.

  • @DesDyer

wonder if DES DYER could answer these questions of mine :

    - why did such a wonderful group as yours in the 70s get to split ? after such a good work done together.

    - How was it possible for an English group not to get the recognition you should have had ( and had have elsewhere in the world) in Britain or Europe ????

    - quite astonished the bass player on the videos in utube hardly ever has the same suit as the others. any particular reason ?why did he leave the group in 78 ?

  • @DesDyer Wow, this song really stands out in my memory from that era. I was only 7 years old at the time (in 1975) but after all these years the musical arrangements, lyrics & vocal melodies of this song still play out in my head as if I just heard it yesterday. It's still a great song, a classic!

  • @DesDyer Hey Des, I see you not only were the lead vocalist but also the drummer eh? That's really cool. I'm almost hard-pressed to recall many other bands (past or present) that had the drummer as the main frontman & singing lead vocals. But no doubt, singing lead & playing the drums simultaneously is a lot harder than, for example, singing while playing guitar or bass. I like the way you did the highhat on this song. Are these 32nd notes?

  • @lucretius68 Karen Carpenter and Phil Collins were both drummer and lead singer of their respective bands.

  • @notnever90210 Phil Collins played just about every instrument on most of his studio solo albums. And even though he was primarily a drummer/pianist, most of his videos just show him singing vocals. I didn't realize Karen Carpenter played drums with the Carpenters, seriously?

  • @DesDyer I used to hang with a bunch of Boston area punks. It was an ornery lot, prone to sneering at the past. The consensus was that 1975 was the worst year of the rock era, as bombast became the order of the day. At the same time, we agreed that, paradoxically, it was also a real golden age for singles. This was one of those singles that made it so. Your song Who Do You Think You are? (Bo Donaldson version stateside) was another good contribution. Cheers.

  • @DesDyer Thanks for the great song!

  • A funny memory...I am 43 now and when I was 5 or maybe 6 my dad got me a K-tel record that was a top 40 type of Album and one of the big songs on the radio at that time was this one....and I remember absolutly Loving this song and singing and dancing to it while mean while saying I hated Disco and everything to do with Disco and yet this song was one of my favorite songs of the time period...I guess JigSaw managed to some how surpass the disco genera with this very well performed tune.smiles.

  • Great song. I remember it from school. We all wanted to know; Who is the girl at .21 and 1.47? I wonder where she is now. Happy days, and wonderful music.

  • Great song. I remember it from when I was at school. All of us wanted to know; who is the girl at 1.50? I wonder where she is now...

  • Didn't we all want to meet the girl at 2.46 when we were at school? Where is she now? Great song. Thanks for posting.

  • who is the singer? i mean what is his name?

  • Love this song.. Great songs will always be great songs..

  • Something about Sky High that has me coming back for more.

  • This is great stuff!!!!!

  • Geez some people get overemotionasl don't they? It's just a song. Tony Montana, can't seem to reply directly to your last comment to me. I KNOW it was from The Man From Hong Kong. I said that in my posting. I asked the question that Jigsaw who performed it "might have been" Australian, based on the fact that the movie was a co-production. A get called a muppet for doing so. Quite honestly I don't give a shit either way.

  • @madphilgreenballs I don't know if you got an earlier reply, but in Oz the band were known as "British Jigsaw" to differentiate with the aussie band of the same name

  • @RobG765 Thanks for clearing it up. I did have a inconclusive reply earlier. Ok, so the song came from a British band who must have moved to Australia and called themselves British Jigsaw to avoid confusion about and "actual" Aussie band called Jigsaw. But my Uncle, who visited us in NZ at the time brought over promo material which didn't differentiate between the 2 bands. The merchandise simply said Jigsaw and definitely referred to the band who performed the song. Confusing to say the least.

  • FMW!

  • i thought they'd all look like preppie college boys for decades but the singer looks like a druggie who is not even taking his work seriously.

why didn't classic vh1 ever air this video over the last 15 years when music has been total s**t . it's a great song.

  • Their English, not Aussie you muppet.

  • @gmaccruyff55 ...as per asd36f's comment a month ago (which I didn't see previously), there was an Australian band called Jigsaw and not knowing much about them it wasn't that foolish to think they were the ones who provided the song for an Australian movie YOU MUPPET

  • these guys were an aussie band weren't they? didn't really know about them except this track was used as the most important song in the aus/HK movie The Man From Hong Kong. Think it was a 70's co-production.

  • Wow, gay disco

  • Como toda banda Jigsaw, marcou também a era de ouro.

    Saudades sempre!

  • Wow I stumbled on this song and does this bring back memories, I think I wore at least two 45's of this song out in the day.

  • Wow I stumbled on this song and does this bring back memories, I think In wore at least two 45's of this song out in the day.

  • I like this song!!!!!!!! EXCELENT!!!!!! GREETINGS FROM MONTERREY, MEXICO.

  • reminds me of an old school Texas Halloween

  • @clarkbell so, what is an old school texas halloween?

  • @Mattytha01 Well, trippy, spent at a bar... maybe even old school grocery store

  • @clarkbell well halloween nowadays can be spent at a bar dont know about a grocers... but i do imagine tha 70's as awesome. =)

  • This song brings back so many memories good and bad.. I still love the song today as much as I did in the 70's

  • must be the most over produced record ive heard

  • its amazing that this song was sampled and used by many people including Bone Thugs,

  • Isn't that Les McQueen of Creme Brulee, playing the guitar at 1:21 - It's a shit business! :-)

  • Great song! Great band! Great memories!! Don't make them like that anymore....!!!!

  • In Australia Jigsaw were known as "British Jigsaw" because there was an Australian group already using the name "Jigsaw"

  • @asd36f - British Jigsaw and Australian Pink Floyd. That would be an interesting show.

  • jigsaw rocks!

  • One of my favoirtes from High School Days!

  • In case anyone was wondering, the Aussie movie was 'The man from Hong Kong' starring George Lazenby, Sammo Leung, Jimmy Wang Yu, Ros Speirs and the delectable Rebecca Gilling who flashed her yummy boobs!

  • and of they go,it has to be on b.a in the vid.

  • I like the way they have only about 30 seconds of video that they use over and over.

  • I remember watching Countdown in 1975 and seeing the filmclip that had Grant Page the Australian stuntman hang gliding over Hong Kong ...brilliant...can't seem to find the same filmclip

  • Itz Young Khalifa man!! haha

    TGOD

  • Muy buena canción, no conocia nada de este grupo, y esta cancion la he escuchado otras veces, es antigua. Muy buena música, armonia y voces, original grupo.

  • Que musica linda,

    Divina.
