I was involved in a very brief conversation between Tina Turner and three people in Toronto in the 1980s. I didn't speak, I was just there with the other people that she spoke to. She was happy, very friendly and open. Really nice person. Totally at ease. No attitude. No BS. Just a very nice person to be around. Whatever she's got, they should bottle it and give some to everybody. The world would be a beautiful place.

Before the movie about her life came out, and you look at this interview. Tina has a very calm demeanor, so you would've never guessed that she was absued by Ike in any way but it also show she is very passionate about what she does and how professional she is about her singing career despite Ike.

the Turners were so ahead time. I mean in a era where its all about looks, The Turners would of been selling out venues, selling millions of records, etc...what a cruel joke life played on them.

I agree...and the level of excitement in the stage shows,wow! They could have taught a lot of modern day super acts on the current music charts about creating a dynamic live performance, no doubt. When I look at footage of the revues from this era, it's no wonder Tina is still fit as a fiddle at nearly 70 years old: she's spent decades performing 2hr concerts at a level which physically has more intensity than any fad workout that has made it's way through the masses. Again...wow. Just wow!

This has to be one of the few performances caught live where the Ikettes are wearing afros! Tina said in an interview in Rolling Stone around 1970 that she let an Ikette wear an afro on stage one night and it didn't look like the Ikette was moving like the rest of them. The difference being the lack of hair movement. It's interesting to see the Revue evolved. RIP Ike, and I wish all good things to Tina.

It gave me chills when I saw the way he looked at her when she said she does whatever he says. Wow....I can't imagine how much fear she lived in knowing that he would beat her at any given time. I'll say it again, that is one strong woman!! He had to find a way to keep her down, because he needed her so badly. She was the star of the show....period.
