This movie did not win Oscar as in this movie Britishers were shown as villians.

I think it that most americans just dont know how to appreciate our films in general and that is why we lost. Apparently the other nominated movies weren't so great. Still, the fact that Lagaan got nominated out of so many films is a very big deal and is something to be really proud of.

We should continue to make great films.. we've never come close to a nomination since.
