Jumped against Christian my freshman year of highschool (he was a senior) at state. He broke the Long Jump record, Triple Jump record, 400 record, 4x1 and 4x4 record all in the same meet. Truely an athlete.
so im a junior this year and last year i jumped 14m and got secon in the state championship my first phase is really good and my second but the transision from my second to third and really bad and short. how can i fix my transision to the 3rd phase and the last phase in general?
i need some tips to improve my triple jump. ive been jumping about 7 months now und at the beginning i improved very quickly. but now it seems that i stagnate. my pr is 12.6 (42 feet), but i only competed 3 times so far in the triple. in training i also jumped about 12.9 several times, and i can feel it in my legs that i´m capable of jumping 13m^^. i use the doublearmshift. i also do a lot of core training and my coaches say that my technique is also quite good. but how can i improve now?
If Idowu were to do some lower abdominal exercises and raise his knees/heels up on his final landing, he could get the last bit he needs to break the world record...
@TheTraceurBoy these guys are at their peak of physical fitness so i find it hard to believe that some lower abdominal exercises are going to help him. of course he is doing them, but it just doesn't give him the edge, being at that peak of physical fitness.
I'm only 13, but that that French guy doesn't seem to be jumping up high enough. I mean are you MEANT to stay down low, or not? I'm not quite sure. But if he was yup higher he cause easily improve his measurements?
@AthleticsGirl98 it's not really height that you want to achieve, it's the forward momentum. If you focus all of your force vertically, you are not going to go far horizontally. But this is with triple jump, in long long it's a different story. In long jump you want to explode off of that one jump and "fly" yourself into the pit. lol, but i can't really answer your question because idk how "low" are you talking about, and if they are jumping in the world championship finals.. they're pro. lol :P
@AthleticsGirl98 Haha, you are right. But i dont think he can.. just look at him! haha, I can say that my last phase is a lot better than him... but I cant compare results with him... my pr is only 41'3" and his is like in the high 50s.... lol. he needs to work on flexibility. :p
@skateandtennis I think you'd improve a lot if you just keep practising! Yeah he's not getting his legs up as high as the others. Wow that's really good. I'm a 13 year old girl (Soon 14) and can only do 8.72m from the 7m board -_-
I've done Little A's for 3 years now but I've NEVER taken TJ seriously until now. So hopefully I can improve soon. I think it's my 2nd phase I really need to work on :)
@AthleticsGirl98 haha, thanks! :) And i actually kinda give up on track and field... i took up another sports that i was previously pursuing, tennis. :P lol, that's pretty good for the first time! :D keep on working at it! it'll get better. and yes, i had the most trouble with the second phase, but i got it down pretty well at the end. :P And i jumped my pr last year.. and i was 15 last year so, it was pretty good. :) I have actually never lost in TJ. :) hehe
idowu needs to keep his hips under himself and drive more "out" and not "up" on his last phase so he stops over rotating in his landings. he should be challenging the world record. he has the talent. i hope he can do work in 2012
Idwu would break Edwards record and national record if he works on his 3rd phase....his 1st jump he missed the entire board and he would of been well over 18m if he was on the board
Nelson has always been my favorite jumper. Congrats to Taylor though! Look for Idowu to make a comeback in 2012, and don't leave out Alexis Copello. He has a lot of talent.
i'm a korean girl, and this was the most favorite game in Daegu, IAAF for me. I find Idowu and Taylor so hot!^^ I'm expecting their battle in London next year very much. Hope good luck for them!
@kunifighter2 i think single arm technqiue. because of that and his terrible landing he wasnt able to clear 18m. at the olympics he will be probably better i think
geeze olsson needs to stop leaning back that was easily a 17.50+ jump he made he looses so dang much and idowu omg i can't even get started with him. wtf is his coach teaching him work on his fricken landing. if he just extended out and WAITED for the ground to come to him instead of just trying to stick it his jumps would be 17.80+ easily
definatly agree his balance on his last fast slows the momentum of the jump down therefore not been able to stretch further is what he lacks and is exactly what jonathan edwards was able to do is keep the momentum through the fases
That jump right after taylor hit 17.96, Idowu would have destroyed it but he took off from his second phase leaning forward. He kinda jammed his feet into the sand cause he would have went head first. Unlucky
I agree, Idowu lost a lot of balance on his final phase, but shows incredible core strength to not have over rotated. even at 32-33 yrs old he still shows he can challenge the 18m barrier. I wish he could develop the common landing style.
Idowu's fifth round approach, hop & step were magnificent......but as long as he continues to ignore that last phase landing he will never reach his full potential. Such a shame for such a great athlete. I just dont understand why he hasnt addressed it?????
@RodneyRude7 I don't think it's possible for me to agree with you anymore than I do. His first two phases were PHENOMINAL, and he had a great takeoff for his final, and then he ruins everything with that terrible landing. He's a professional athlete, why haven't his coaches fixed his landing? That 17.77 could easily have gotten him gold if he'd landed like the others do...
@TheBlamus being a pro doesnt mean your technique cant get better. its pretty evident when every other pro lands the other way that hes doing something wrong. Being pro doesnt mean you cant get better...
@RodneyRude7 Agreed, he's had that same landing for years, perhaps it hasn't cost him anything until now. Taylor does not look nearly as powerful, but his flexibility won him the gold.
@RodneyRude7 i totally agree with you men, this guy, if he fixes that third phase will probably come closest to breaking jonathan edwards record. or christian taylor, but dang, he really needs to fix that third phase.
I'll put it to you like this... Idowu being off balance is what messed up that jump, but had he had a better landing, he probably would have gotten farther... or at least not flew off on his face. That sudden stop in momentum (due to his landing) is what sent him flying like that. Because believe me, he had the speed to go 18m+
Idowu has fantastic first and second phases, he even starts his last phase 80cm or less from the sand, the lack of balance is noticeable in the final phase to landing, with that last jump and a better landing he could cleared 18m and gold medal.
@iTripleJump2012 you're at florida now? congrats homie. you get a chance to train with some truly amazing athletes. hope you have a great college career.
Look at how easy it was for Idowu to make a SB type jump. He's been lazy... but Claye and Taylor are here to insure that he never stays lazy again.. if he wants to win a championship that is..
USA is back, but i do see that Phillips over rotated that would have been big but the name of the game is execution,,and Taylor did, claye is one of the most god fearing athletes i know i see big things in the future for usa triple jump
