It is a very reliable rifle it is used by the Saudi millitary...5.56 mm cartridges make it great for handling and makes it lightweight...Never leave my post without it
au début on voit que le steyr aug est sorti de l'eau mais est ce q'un test de submersion entrainerai mes meme degats que sur un colt m4 par exemple ??
Its a di system so it likes to work wet(as in oil) just like the M4 di legacy system so if it clean, but dry it'll probably jam often. Still a great rifle just have to keep an eye on it.
It is not, nor ever was a Direct Impingement ( DI )system thank god! If it was a DI system it would probably jam all the time like an M4- as it is I've fired 10s of thousands of rounds through the military version and had 4 stoppages ( all of which were caused by crap ammo. This weapon is infinitely better than any of the M16 family and I'd trust it with my life ( and have done) unlike an M4. If you want to read something interesting google' M4 controversy'.
i have been working with the aug for 5 years and they definitely don't jam like crazy. the aug is very, very reliable and you can count on it in every situation. the reason why many armys do not use it is very simple. for example UK. UK's special forces wanted to have that weapon. but for "patriotic" reasons they had to keep their crappy german modified sa-80.
@Elkotend you wish..... armies around the globe buying sniper rifles when they could have a assault-sniper-rifle that can be used as both without any changes in barrel???? NO WAY YOU ARE SOOOOOOOOOO wRONG
The military of Luxembourg consists of a solitary branch: the army (the Gendarmerie was merged into the Grand Ducal Police in 2000), which was formerly commanded by a colonel, but as of 2008 is commanded by a general; Luxembourg has no navy (it's a landlocked nation) or air force. The army has been an all-volunteer force since 1967.[1] It has a current strength of approximately 450 professional soldiers, about 340 enlisted recruits and 100 civilians, and a total budget of $369 million

Alexn1067 7 months ago
@Alexn1067 the AK-47 has killed a hell of a lot more
zzman0 7 months ago
@zzman0 well, if the U.S. handed out M-16s like they were candy too, I assure you it would have the same kill count under its belt.

New Zealand and Australia use these weapons "extensively" and they are solid weapon - I disagree with superwoofer's comment that they jam like crazy.
Have you even used one?

Doesn't the AUG use 2 gas tubes?
nthnkilgore 2 years ago
No, it has 2 guide rods on the bolt carrier- one is pushed by the gas piston; the other is retracted by the cocking handle
tiggerdodds 2 years ago 4
Wow. I thought they were gas tubes.

Thank you for the correction.

@thecrusader2007 Armies don't use it because it's officially classified as an automatic sniper rifle because it's that accurate.
Elkotend 1 year ago
what? officially classified as a sniper rifle? where did you get that?? that's an assault rifle (in the standard version).

@Elkotend You're wrong.
60mm groupings at 50 yards is NOT "sniper" accurate.
And many countries do use it.
