Oh... just found out that the company that owns the rights to RATM's track is Sony - the parent company over Simon Cowell's company that runs The X-Factor.. so this whole RATM protest deal is only making Sony even more money.... HAHA... what a joke. What kind of protest is that? LOL.

3) x factor's single was swiped from tweenbopper Miley Cyrus, it's autotuned, it wasn't written by joe, and it's technically INCREDIBLY similar to what xfactor have previously produced. RATM was written by RATM, when they were poor. there's no equivalence, i'm afraid.
Look: think about this for a second. If you were one of the executives on the Sony board... what would you do? Would you cancel the X Factor completely just because there's a group out there protesting?
Or... would you be laughing your heads off now that you have two of the most financially-rewarding tracks of the season? Great... Cowell doesn't make as much... but Sony's gonna enjoy the competition because they own both tracks. And in this case, this protest gives them no reason to stop...

1) Loyal supporters of X factor.
2) Protesters who are still buying sony's stuff.

I'm not on a high horse, I honestly fail to empathise with the forced emotion that pervades every second of both his performance and the music. The singing whilst passable, is lifeless. Music needs to have soul, needs to have rhythm and groove and it needs to breathe and not be a set of notes rattled off to the soundtrack of screaming fans, who care less about the actual music than the 'journey' that preceded them.

Not being funny, but all those people who are saying that people like Joe are stopping bands and artists who "actually work and have talent" getting to the number 1... Ermm, well, Joe, Alexandra, Leon, Leona etc., they don't MAKE you buy the single. Simon Cowell doesn't force anyone to buy or download the single, people do it because they like it. It just means people prefer the x factor singles to everyone else's.
No it doesn't, it means people respond to the emotions that talent-show formats are designed to give their audiences. The format is very clever, and has clearly worked on many levels, kudos to the producers for making some money.
But these shows 'are' putting yet another obstacle in the path of aspiring artists/bands who don't buy in to the '15 minutes of fame' career progression path.

These lyrics aren't against or supporting anything. Life is in changeable without suicide, so singing about it is pointless. The meaning of this is totally irrelevant.

Not being funny, but all those people who are saying that people like Joe are stopping bands and artists who "actually work and have talent" getting to the number 1... Ermm, well, Joe, Alexandra, Leon, Leona etc., they don't MAKE you buy the single. Simon Cowell doesn't force anyone to buy or download the single, people do it because they like it. It just means people prefer the x factor singles to everyone else's.

No it doesn't, it means people respond to the emotions that talent-show formats are designed to give their audiences. The format is very clever, and has clearly worked on many levels, kudos to the producers for making some money.
But these shows 'are' putting yet another obstacle in the path of aspiring artists/bands who don't buy in to the '15 minutes of fame' career progression path.
Yes, Joe McElderry has a nice voice. No, this isn't great songwriting or a particularly memorable track.

There were plenty of artists before things like Pop Idol and X Factor who only had a one hit wonder.
Joe didn't choose the track, or how the song was written, he has no power over that. I have no real problem with people moaning about Simon, but when they moan about the act, that is unfair, because they have no say in the matter. It's hard to get into the music business, and if someone gave you the opportunity to achieve your dreams wouldn't you take it?

no, im not going to keep arguing, but seriously. it was a singing competition, and jedward couldnt sing a note in tune. they were just a joke, to get more people watching it. on the other hand though, joe was note perfect week after week :) thats all im saying.

he is not Gay, what is wrong with you people. Every genre of music can have a meaning behind the lyrics, it doesnt matter what the melody is or the singers voice, or the background music. The lyrics are what should matter the most in my opinion, this song for example is great and is about overcoming struggles in life that we face and it can be difficult, but it is worth the effort and time taken.
