The real Champion. The ref got excited and started calling bullshit stalling along with escapes when there were never escapes. Those bullshit escapes allowed McIIravy get undeserved takedowns.

the more I watch this, the more I realize how bad the refs did in this match...they were calling potentially dangerous way too early and unnecessary stall calls on gerry..give credit where due with Mac but it doesn't help when everyone in the arena was influenced by the Iowa partisan crowd

It appeared the ref was calling potentially dangerous situations pretty quickly to get them back on their feet(to Lincoln's advantage)...but hard to overlook how much Abas gassed and that McIIlravy never gave up.

I really don't see how McIlravy won this... It was like 8-2 in the first minute, Abas. It looked like McIlravy lost by a good 3-4 points.

That was Mcllravy first national title, he was a true freshman at the time of this match. A great example of never giving up during a match. I remember watching coach Gable going nutts after the match

Gable always went nuts which pushed the refs to go nuts and make poor judgement during Championship matches. Calling potentially dangerous when Abas was attempting to finish a takedown was just plain dumb.
