@naleyan..."One Trick Pony" you say? That's all he's showing now...Don't tell me you've never seen the man lay down a jazz groove...Blinding independence... Or, in a clinic...as easily, and as effortlessly as you see him here, he blazes with a Buddy Rich Romp on the snare that never ceases to draw cheers from the crowd....One Trick Pony, my A**!
it IS way detuned. the secret is in the muffling, front head, shell composition, mic combinations, and rick's technique. he smacks the shizzle out of his kick.
and for juddgreg333: it is a shame that you would let the style choices of a master drummer limit your learning. you will see very few drummers doing so much with so little effort.
@juddgreg333@juddgreg333 Rick Latham is the slickest dude to ever pick up the sicks man, and that hair embodies the whole groove, its like the foundation... lol... check out Steve Gadd with "STUFF" from 76' (vids on youtube) he's got a sweet hairdo there. Jokes aside tho Rick sounds perfect on tape and thats what counts
This seems pretty cool. It seems a little advanced for beginners, but not nearly too complicated for an expert. Good stuff. Glad to see Drum Channel promoting instructional DVDs.

@naleyan I would love to be the one trick pony whose one trick is a strong combination of groove, time and chops.
