  • @ShortlandScottish theres actually proof that Japan was going to surrender, and the emperor was trying to get unconditional surrender, but 3 out of the 6 highest military ranking people in japan responded to the Potsdam Declaration and said that they wouldnt surrender. plus, japan was in a state of starvation and their economy was in shambles so there was no way they had a chance

  • @tazmaniansonz. Yes. America spent billions of dollars and hours developing a brand new high tech untested atomic weapon. Bombing on real targets Hiroshima & Nagasaki was the perfect chance to test it. Not just desert test in Arizona. Real atomic attack legitimized billions of dollars and hours spent. It did not matter if japan was already interested in surrender, did not matter if Japan could not continue the war. It was great scientific testing opportunity, rather than military necessity.

  • japan attack the u.s., kill thousand and injury thousand of american people. rape and kill million of chinese citizen in china, vietnam, and bunch of other south east asia country. the u.s. did all those countries a favor by droping a nuclear bomb to stop them from killing and raping more people.

  • @92silverz You are one fucking pathetic person. I can tell your education level is under post secondary. You fucking idiot. I am so embarrassed that I live in a country full of dumb ass American people who think like you.

  • @MarcyPhelps wahahahhahahhahahhahahhahah, why you mad? you dumb fuck

  • @92silverz I'm not mad at all. You should be mad that you're fucking retarded.

  • @MarcyPhelps okay, you win. i guess i should be more open minded.

  • All of you who are bashing America for dropping the bomb and saying we had "bloodlust" are ignorant of history. The atomic aftermath in Japan was horrifying. No one is happy we had to do that. But Japan ATTACKED US. And if we had had to send our troops to invade Japan we would have lost countless American lives. OUR grandfathers...and some of you idiots wouldn't be here today probably. Stop being PC. War is horrible but self defense isn't.

  • @ShortandScottish dont forget some of the things japen did, baton deathmarch?

  • @XXxmetalhead69XXX yes but its not like all of the CIVILIANS did any atrocities. They didn't DESERVE to die.

  • @PvtGaryRoach THANK YOU

  • @ShortandScottish the japanese were invading china and raping women and children, they were blood thirsty and i truly believe that this was the right thing to do at the time, they had to be stopped

  • @ShortandScottish So you'd rather hundreds of thousands of unsuspecting, innocent civilians died than 'countless' American soldiers? If you think I should stop being 'politically correct' then I think you should stop being nationalistic. A human is a human, no matter what country it was born in.

  • @ShortandScottish Ah man, you're full of shit. That's a sorry excuse they teach you in your schools. America is always right, and if it involves killing hundreds of thousands of CIVILIANS for self defense, then so be it. I dont remember the japs attacking civilian zones, do you?

  • @srdjankovic satire?

  • @yoyoboy70 no, not at all

  • @srdjankovic

Heh, other than Nanking, no of course not.

  • @kingsatan I'm sorry, what did America have to do with that? Just another example of Americans butting in other countries business.

  • @srdjankovic

". I dont remember the japs attacking civilian zones, do you? "

I don't remember it because I was - 20 at the time, but I did read about it in the Rape of Nanking. Civilians in all areas the Jap's took over were abuses, I would assume that would include civilians that were American. Also Japans balloons killed a few people in the USA.

  • @kingsatan u should really read it again. I doubt that any Americans were killed in The Rape of Nanking. In fact, im sure it didnt happen. Its obvious that you're trying to defend your country, hell, i''d do the same thing, but there's no way that you can actually justify this. Just like you cant justify 1.3 million dead Iraqis and 7 million refugees in the US invasion of the East.

  • @srdjankovic just as long as you KNOW America is always right. i wouldn't be here if it wasn't for all those deaths...thank god!

  • Nothing says post nuclear trauma like upbeat big band music:)

  • lol

  • @sentin515

_____Big band music, you say? It's like the Fallout 3 soundtrack! Hmm... The makers of that game had to have gotten their historic references from SOMEWHERE. And from now on, whenever great-grandpa cranks up the ol' phonograph to play some old-time tunes, we'll be thinking of nuclear annihilation and rampaging mutants across gray-ash landscapes. Remember, "I don't want to set the world on fi-i-ire!"

  • made me think of fallout too, the narrator had no remorse whatsoever

  • Yea too much pride in the video .. what is to be proud about killing civilians... maybe it would be seen with less shame if they used the bomb on the actual military not innocent women men and CHILDREN

  • @KalionWoW

_____Dude, you're about 145 years too late to make this kind of statement. Two centuries back, battles were all about two opposing armies getting together at a pre-determined time, fighting each other, then taking a final score. But after 1865, the concept of total war came into being--where EVERYBODY'S a target. If you want to talk about who's innocent and who's not in war, try convincing the Taliban, using women and children as human shields and carriers of suicide bombs.

  • @Egglesplork i hate the taliban why should i ask them?, actually i hate all religions for the fact that they can make people do these completly insane things for the word of imaginary gods but just because everyone is a target DOES NOT MEAN THAT IT IS JUSTIFIABLE!

  • While the evident pride in this reporter's tone is disturbing, this remains an historical artifact of both the grim horror of the Bomb and the war spirit and bloodlust Americans were triggered to feel by hte Pearl Harbor attack and the loss of thousands of their native sons in the Pacific theater. One should watch this and remind oneself, "May God have mercy on our souls."

  • ffuu k asshole this guy is narrating this event with such a pride. taking pride after the suffering of almost 1 million people if added Nagasaki
