@ConcealedTactics Thanks, I recently talked to a gunsmith and he put my mind at ease as far as the striker, I'll be carrying this gun now as soon as my holster arrives :)
Very nice looking pistol there sir! I know what you're talking about with stiff springs & re-assembly. I have a Kahr that's a booger. I'd carry the one that you feel most comfortable with even though you purchased this with that intent. Thanks for sharing!
@dwilhoite I find all Kimbers to have a stiif mainspring. I don't usually have a problem with 1911's but the small size of this one makes it particularly hard to handle. Thanks for stopping by :)
if you carry cocked and locked as you say, why not carry a revolver, more reliable, safer etc.. not that i need to tell you any of that. just wondering why you dont carry a revolver
All Kimber firearms are top quality, I have just joined a pistol club here in Australia and my first purchase after the waiting periods will be a Kimber in .22 Great video, very helpfull, thank you.
@Bijomaru1joker Thanks for stopping by. Of course you know that's one of Pete's mugs, top quality :) With all the poisonous snakes ya'll have down under I'd have to have plenty of rat shot handy :) Kimbers are all very nice weapons. I've heard a lot about breakin periods but so far all mine have performed flawlessly .
I'm glad I got my Solo when they first came out. I called around to my local shops and I found one in stock for $600. If I was to look for one now and my only option was a waiting list, I'd just wait for the P938 instead.
@OilTheGun Thanks, the size and weight is perfect. I guess I just have 1911 on the brain. I really wanted to carry this one but will just use it as a secondary conceal .:)
@ I've had my permit for about two years and I'm never worried about being taken advantage of. You of course need to have the ability to use it if and when it becomes necessary. Always being aware of your surroundings is equally important. Another bit of advice to pass along to your friends on Facebook and possibly the most important, should you ever be taken by surprise: NEVER,EVER go to a second location. Make a stand where you're at.:)
@interceptortow Kimber does not recommend it. They recommend Federal Hydra Shok JHP, Remington Golden Sabre HP, Hornady TAT JHP all in 127-147 grain. It's made specifically to fire high pressure ammo, which is why the recoil spring is so stout.
Sweet looking little gun. I wish i can afford one. Kimber makes excellent pistols huh.. I'd say you have the coolest collection of guns/pistols here on youtube. My monitor is always wet with drool everytime you show those puppies.
Chuck how are you gonna mount that bayonet to that little pistol?!?!?! Lobl:) hey there is a Kimber Manufacturing facility just a ways down the road from me I should buzz down there and check those out! There are alot of Kimber custom shop pistols in the local gunshops.
@MyHollowpoint my CTS-V didn't come with a spare they have them shitty run flats can't get very good traction with them things guess they are all shipped from Caddy without a spare

Awesome Chuck! Hey i'll trade you! I just got a Kel Tec PF9 with your name on it! Just somethin to think about buddy! Store that thought in your mind and let it simmer like Ragu sauce in a pan.
@interceptortow Thanks for watching. I need to learn a lot more about the striker system before I feel comfortable with it. I want back up safety on top of safetys :) Nothing would be more embarassing and problem causing than to have one accidently go off.
I have a Solo and have put quite a few rounds through mine. Save yourself some grief, stick to the recommended ammo list while breaking it in. Mine is a jamomatic when I try to run any 115 grain rounds through it. Only "practice" round I've found to be reliable is Blazer 124 gr. The other hollow point rounds get rather expensive for practice.
The striker is fine, just use that safety. It keeps the gun safe.
Chuck, that is one cool little Kimber man; I have been intrigued since they were announced. Loved your very graphic description of your takedown experience, LOL. I think it would probably be too much for me to manhandle around too. Nice review, thanks for all the details brother.
@MyHollowpoint LOL... That's probably the best molah that anyone will send on a cheap high powered rifle. Did you check out my vid on my Mosin's? I ended up sporterizing (probably didnt spell that right) one of them and kept one original.
@MyHollowpoint They are sweet. Nothing to them really.Just have to make sure that the firing pin is in the correct spot before you take it to the range. Did you get a firing pin toll with it??
@MyHollowpoint Sorry for the type"O". I meant firing pin tool. I have a vid on that too. Just make sure that the tool that came with your Mosin is the correct tool. Let me know if you have any questions.
@MrKZizzle Thanks! Yeah it came with all kinds of little gadgets, gotta get the cosmolene off first . Wondered what all those things were, haven't touched them yet.
That's a very nice pistol Chuck, once you get used to the striker fire pistol and the trigger. I picked up one @ the local gun shop just to feel it in my hand. Small enough to conceal, but for the money I probably would buy the Kahr PM45. Just as compact and much better trigger and about the same price. I do like Kimbers as I own a few. What the hell.. take it to the range and see what's up, then do an update vid and tells what you really think... Thanks for the vid!
@sabr686 I'll make some shooting video's, just haven't worked out the logistics yet. Probably have to evevtually get in front of the camera :) Most of my pistols don't see a lot of action but it's a horrible disease, just like buying 'em :)
Good looking pistol chuck. Garth agreed now he want to see you shoot it. Man that is one sweet CCW pistol and reliable. Are those the grips that cam on them or are they aftermarket ones?
@guns4funca They came with the pistol. The rosewood grips looked real nice too, actually better. If I can find an aftermarket pair like them I'll probably get them :)
Hey Chuck, I don't know what the innards of a striker fired Kimber looks like, but anytime I start feeling worrisome about my condition one horizontal carry Glock 21, I just pull the slide off and gaze at the plunger; it ain't gonna accidentally discharge unless the trigger is intentionally pulled. Great vid...
@sjones5674 I'll get it all figured out sooner or later and it does have the thumb safety in the mix too :) I bought it from a gunsmith, next time I'm in there I'll get him to explain :)
@ebomey I thought you were going to be nice until Sunday, now I'm disappointed and hurt at the same time. I did better than that, I bought two :) Now, if you don't mind, it's time for my nap, lol. :)
@LbrtyNJustice4All Thank you, it just feels right to me but I don't think I can get past it being striker fired. I'll have to make a shooting video one day. Thanks for watching :)
I agree the Kimber is not for everyone. It is difficult to pull the slide back and disassemble and reassemble. It, however, is a sweet shooter with the proper ammo. Good video.
@FirearmPatriot Thanks for watching. There's just not much pistol to hold onto when disassembling this small pistol. Full size Kimbers aren't a walk in the park but at least you have more room :)
Seems bizarre to me that they put a safety on it at all. Especially with a 6 1/2 pound trigger. I wouldn't hesitate to carry it chambered and NOT locked (like a glock) so long as my holster had a good trigger guard.
@grishfish I guess it just boils down to what I feel comfortable with. Seen a lot of people shoot themselves with striker fired and they were more knowledgeable than me.
i carry an older hk p-7 , everyone says 9mm is bad to carry , but i can shoot 4 shots on a quarter at 25 yards , other than being lighter i see no advantage over my gun. but it looks very nice ,that black grip mdl would be my choice . much better than 380 acp. that seems to be the craze now they are moving on to 9mm to carry.
There was an article in American Rifleman about the Solo. I didn't read it because I am cheap and would probably not buy a Kimber. I don't have a problem with striker fire guns. Just as with any gun, keep your finger off the trigger and you should be fine. I carry a Kel-Tec P3AT, and it has an internal hammer, DAO. I don't mind the long hard trigger pull because when SHTF, I am sure I will be able find enough strength to pull the trigger...lol
very nice little 9mm.that is a weird lookin barrell.looks like they tried to shoot a 45acp and bulbed it out..Eric loves anything that has a swell in it! lol!
Looks great! I don't like the idea that it is picky on ammo. But that is just me. Sounds like you need to take it back and get something you will be more comfortable with and is easier to take down. You will never want to clean it lol
@TheHobbyistChannel I'm looking for a pistol that's a bit lighter and I'll eventually find it. I carry the p238 cocked and locked and now they have a 9mm. :)
I read where you have to replace the recoil spring after 1000 rounds. I don't know if that was a misprint, but I was rather surprised that it wasn't more durable. I wish Kimber would supply more than one magazines with their pistols, though.
That is a nice looking pistola! What ammo did they recommend? If you shoot it a lot maybe you will carry it once you feel it's reliable. That bayonet would come in handy at the buffet!! Great video Chuck!
@Mr45Bullitt Damn forgot to hit "post", now I have to go look the ammo up again :) Great idea for the bayonet though. Let me go look it up, be right back, only for you Bill, lol. Fedral Hydra Shok JHP, Remington Golden Sabre HP, Hornady TAT JHP all in 124 or 147 grains. There ya go Lil Bill, sorry ya had to wait for me to figure out what the hell you were talking about :)
@MyHollowpoint I didn't want to know just thought that would keep you hopping!! LOL! No seriously I just womdered about that. Thanks only you would do that. That's why you got to the front of the line:) Seems like they want a punch hence the stiff recoil spring.
Hi, that is a good looking gun, and as you say they are rare as Hen 's teeth as Kimber can't make enough of them at the moment. I can tell from your tone of voice you are not happy with it, as you don't sound your normal 'chipper' self. Maybe too much time monkeying around on the football has worn you out. At the end of the day you are only going to carry what you are comfortable with. Thanks for sharing the Kimber Solo it is another gorgeous weapon to add to your collection. All the very
@BonnevilleTB7 Thank you! Had my heart set on carrying this and getting off my cuff but guess I'll have to wait a little longer. Sig has a P238 now that is 9mm, gonna have to look into that one. Disappointed with the take down I attempted, those springs are stout and not much to hold onto while holding it back to install the slide stop. Maybe practice will help and I can make another short vid on that :)

@grishfish I guess it just boils down to what I feel comfortable with. Seen a lot of people shoot themselves with striker fired and they were more knowledgeable than me.

the sig 238 in 9mm alures me , i want to handle it to decide if i like for sure.
glock2026 1 month ago
i carry an older hk p-7 , everyone says 9mm is bad to carry , but i can shoot 4 shots on a quarter at 25 yards , other than being lighter i see no advantage over my gun. but it looks very nice ,that black grip mdl would be my choice . much better than 380 acp. that seems to be the craze now they are moving on to 9mm to carry.
glock2026 1 month ago
@glock2026 Sig has come out with a P238 that is a 9mm. I'm going to give it a look when I see one. I carry their .380 condition 1 .

@MyHollowpoint Ha ! Ha ! Irishman ... I can see where this is goin .
hazman440 1 month ago
Looks great! I don't like the idea that it is picky on ammo. But that is just me. Sounds like you need to take it back and get something you will be more comfortable with and is easier to take down. You will never want to clean it lol

TheHobbyistChannel 1 month ago
@TheHobbyistChannel I'm looking for a pistol that's a bit lighter and I'll eventually find it. I carry the p238 cocked and locked and now they have a 9mm. :)
MyHollowpoint 1 month ago
I read where you have to replace the recoil spring after 1000 rounds. I don't know if that was a misprint, but I was rather surprised that it wasn't more durable. I wish Kimber would supply more than one magazines with their pistols, though.
thebudgetarmory1 1 month ago
@thebudgetarmory1 It wasn't a misprint and you're right about the mags :)
MyHollowpoint 1 month ago
Well, you could carry it in "Condition Butterscotch" if you're uncomfortable with the striker! :-)
I've molested one of these, and wouldn't mind having one, but as you said they're scarse as hen's teeth.
Thanks for sharing, friend.

That is a nice looking pistola! What ammo did they recommend? If you shoot it a lot maybe you will carry it once you feel it's reliable. That bayonet would come in handy at the buffet!! Great video Chuck!
Mr45Bullitt 1 month ago
@Mr45Bullitt Damn forgot to hit "post", now I have to go look the ammo up again :) Great idea for the bayonet though. Let me go look it up, be right back, only for you Bill, lol. Fedral Hydra Shok JHP, Remington Golden Sabre HP, Hornady TAT JHP all in 124 or 147 grains. There ya go Lil Bill, sorry ya had to wait for me to figure out what the hell you were talking about :)
MyHollowpoint 1 month ago
@MyHollowpoint I didn't want to know just thought that would keep you hopping!! LOL! No seriously I just womdered about that. Thanks only you would do that. That's why you got to the front of the line:) Seems like they want a punch hence the stiff recoil spring.

TADPOLE696 1 month ago
Hi, that is a good looking gun, and as you say they are rare as Hen 's teeth as Kimber can't make enough of them at the moment. I can tell from your tone of voice you are not happy with it, as you don't sound your normal 'chipper' self. Maybe too much time monkeying around on the football has worn you out. At the end of the day you are only going to carry what you are comfortable with. Thanks for sharing the Kimber Solo it is another gorgeous weapon to add to your collection. All the very
BonnevilleTB7 1 month ago
@BonnevilleTB7 Thank you! Had my heart set on carrying this and getting off my cuff but guess I'll have to wait a little longer. Sig has a P238 now that is 9mm, gonna have to look into that one. Disappointed with the take down I attempted, those springs are stout and not much to hold onto while holding it back to install the slide stop. Maybe practice will help and I can make another short vid on that :)
MyHollowpoint 1 month ago
Awesome Review, Chuck!
It is a nice pistol. I've heard good and bad...Too bad it's a Kimber. I'll never own another.
