I think perhaps people dont like them because they are too complicated for them to use. or perhaps they are afraid of the price tag. these are awsome machines. mine is great.
Pre-ground coffee is always going to have a stale taste to it and coffee should be brewed at between 195-205°F temperature and that's why almost all coffee machines are not making a good cup of coffee they do not brew hot enough.
I agree with you, however, the k-cups are vac sealed and keep the coffee fresh and the keurig platinum has a temp setting so you can change the temp. I have mine set to 200 and it brews amazing coffee. Besides, if you want fresh ground coffee then buy the "my k-cup" and grind your own. I do that as-well.
I had one, worst thing ever. coffee was weak, and it sounded like a jackhammer. No pad is going to make the pump quieter. I got mine from Amazon and I was able to return it for a full refund and the customer service person said LOTS of people returned them based on those two issues.
@meggabitz Just press the smaller cup button for stronger coffee.

They make great coffee. The hard part is which flavor to brew every morning.

The easiest way to reduce the noise is to get a K-Pad. They sell them on eBay for about $13.
