It's actually surprising to find that most of what the Sheikh says pretty much agrees with standard Jewish theology. This dosen't mean that God created Man in Gods image but it actaully means that God created Man (Adam) in his image as a full human, not going through child birth, or the pains and changes that come with the growth of a human.

He isnt suggesting that one is seeking reward once he is in heaven. He is saying that people will be rewarded with heaven in the hereafter for persevering through adversities like natural disasters.
rape and murder are quite horrible, but if you look beyond the actual crime there can be many ways good can come out of it. For example, the birth of a child from a rape can* bring comfort to the mother who otherwise would have nothing to live for.

It's actually surprising to find that most of what the Sheikh says pretty much agrees with standard Jewish theology. I guess no matter were you start from, you'll eventually reach the same conclusion; that even what seems to be evil has some good to it. If you're suffering for no reason then what's the point in god? If there is no point in god then you may as well turn away from god and religion. Add all this together and you can then question everything in your holy book including your creation myth as there is no evidence for it and the writings have already been deemed as fallible and you are then on the path to atheism. Not a huge step to make.

If god and god's actions can be questioned then god is not suitable to punish. If god can be questioned then we are safe to assume that god has made mistakes and people have suffered for no reason. What a waste of human endeavour and human potential to have so much time and energy devoted to the fantasy of non exitent gods of which there is no evidence. coreykep - hello you said that God created man in his own image. This is usually misunderstood or misinterpreted by Christians. This dosen't mean that God created Man in Gods image but it actaully means that God created Man (Adam) in his image as a full human, not going through child birth, or the pains and changes that come with the growth of a human.
Think about it for a while with out anyone trying to interpreted for you. God makes clear to those who give thought and who's hearts are pure.

But if u found a bad one, u will try to keep him at the same level, and if u found a hopeless one u will just leave him b! God does the same with us.
