  • i was in boonville at the time it hit us an hour later

  • I'm in Kansas love y it lots to do

    Kansas is awesome

  • IT IS A SENTRY 15V1T

  • Can hear an allertor at 0:21

  • @doverpoint1 It is actually a Sentry 15V1T. Evansville, Indiana only has Sentrys. I live an hour away from Evansville.

  • @ank40

Some people love to watch tornados or even just a storm... Im not being mean im just saying... When i was as young as 4, i LOVED to watch these things form... I wasnt afraid of tornadoes until i turned 12. (14 now) but i hope that someday ill pursue my life career of becoming a meteorologist or even a storm chaser. (yeah yeah my life storys boring i get it. Lol)

  • This is a Sterling y-10 3 phase siren. It's duel toned.

  • hahahahahahaha! i remember when it got that dark here in texas! it was 1:45 PM and the clouds were black. it was sooo dark that they turned the street lights on!

  • get in the house and get in shelter hello a tornado

  • man i can't wait for our first severe storm like this down south. :) been waiting for one for a good while. nothing yet =S

  • it was a whelen

  • So, are we all in agreement this was probably a Sentry 15V2T? :)

  • My god, i wouldnt want to be in your position, hearing those sirens must make you scared, because you know whats coming when you hear it :), love the vid!

  • try chasing tornados for a living

  • he sounded like he was shaking did you hear his voice

  • sounds more like an ACA federal signals aren't that low in pitch

  • sounds like Federal Signal Siren.

  • That's one ominous looking sky! You're a better man than I to be out recording with sirens going off.

  • nice video!!

  • We had an EF4 tornado here around my area of Toledo, Ohio about a month ago. Milbury, Ohio looks like a war zone...it's very sad. This is a great video. Hugs from Toledo, Ohio!!!

When the sirens go off I crap my pants!!!

  • awsome vid ur brave just for our entertainment ur risky ur life ur awsome imma subscribe u

  • @Siren1000T1- Yeah. I think It's the Sentry 10V2T or the 15V2T

  • does it really get dark as night during a tornado storm

  • @PINKluvr01 The first one was at about 6 pm, so that's pretty accurate. The second one was just after sunset, so it's hard to tell if that was how dark it was because of the storm.

  • @PINKluvr01 well it counts, i know their was one when i was young that touched down like hell not even two blocks away for just a moment than it died off, but it got dark like this vid , abit darker though , like 1.5 to 2 times darker ;)

  • @PINKluvr01 it dose get dark we had a tornado out where im at thr fucker hit at 1130 am i had the lights on in my pick up at 1115

  • @PINKluvr01 very

  • @PINKluvr01 Yes it gets very dark during a tornado. Back in 1999 A tornado reg a ef4 hit pettersburg Indiana. I live about 18 miles north of this town In washington Indiana... I guess you would have to really say it all deppends on how tall the storm is and how wide. I also lived in oaklahoma for about 3 months.. Long enough to see a tornado up close... It was 2 in the afternoon and it felt like midnight. So to answer your question... Yes it can turn black as night during a tornado.

  • correction it was in 1990 the tornado I commented about

  • wow!!

  • there sentry sirens

  • always spooky when you hear these horns. heheh, darn clouds they get high and strong enough they turn day into night. Be glad the sky wasnt green though..thats when the killers are loose. ..well thats my experience anyhow.

    cool vid!

  • great video thanks for posting

  • I comment because I can DAMN it.. Don't like it? Don't allow comments.

  • ahhh why did he have to talk >> could have been one of the best vid on the tube.

  • @letalis777 because i can dammit. don't like it? don't comment.

  • shitt ¡¡ thats scary

  • wow you sound frieghtened in the beginning

  • damn a sky that black something is def. wrong

  • If I'm not mistaken, but in the early part of the clip,

it looks like a funnel-cloud is trying to rope out a bit.

  • i wish that would happen close to me so i could c a tornado.

Only a FE2 (tornado ranking scale) . The highest is FE6.

  • fail. its EF2 (Enhanced Fujita scale)

    not FE

  • wow, what a dangours situation

  • This looks SO cool. I live in connecticut so I never experienced something like this. I want to though, it looks sooo cool

  • You mentioned the sky turning red. I drove through a tornado once (and when I say I drove through it, I saw the rain swirling in a funnel pattern over my head) and afterwards the sky was PINK! It was SO WEIRD! Do you have any information on that phenomena?

  • @hrdknox2000 some scientists think its because of the light from the sun hitting the debree at various heights in our atmosphere. For instance: have you ever noticed in a severe storm the sky at times is a emerald green hue? The theory is that the sun is glaring through the prisim of colors just right hitting diffrent colors at diffrent heights. i hope this may help you out ~ storm chaser from Northern Illinois

  • I ran into one going to Pleasenton Kansas in 1992. I went for shelter. minutes later my motorcycle was destroyed by wind.

  • @anvil357

    Damn... Really? That sucks.

  • @DraconisTheDragon It does. After that. A good samaritan took me to Kansas City where i took amtrak home. besides, It was a 78 Honda Goldwing VERY EXPENDABLE

  • Double damn.

  • was it that dark out

  • Yup. The first video was shot around 4 pm and the second video was shot around 7 pm about a week before the first.

  • i wonder how angry is that storm is

  • there was most likely a tornado watch too. that would be y they blew the siren

  • the siren is a sentry... (anything but a dual toned sentry like the 10v2t-to a-40vt2)... the siren could range from bein a 3v8h-to a-10v (^3

  • man thats dark

  • man its freaking dark outside

  • "this is what you call hell" haha

  • something was trying to form up there. Must be the most annoying sound. Acutally its not stupid what your doing but it could be dangerous you might get hit by lighting. But what your doing is just awesome. Atleas there was no tornado

  • Did you see the 20 foot tall flagpoles to the right of where I was standing? :)

As a weather geek from PA, I enjoyed EVERY MINUTE of it.

  • it give me the willy's

  • In Cincinnati, our sirens sound for Tornado Warnings and when there's a Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued during a Tornado Watch. I hear that Indianapolis does it like that too.

  • Remember that people in Evansville are especially prudent when it comes to weather. Go to the left off camera about 2 miles from where this video was taken from, and you'll be in the track of a deadly F4 tornado not three years before this video was taken.

  • Here in Vanderburgh County (Evansville), the sirens are sounded every Friday at noon for the weekly test, when a Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued, when there is a Severe Thunderstorm and Tornado Watch together, and for Tornado Warning's.

  • Hamilton County (Cincinnati) tests theirs every 1st Wednesday of the month at noon.

  • the scariest thing is that its dark the sirens are going off there is thunder and lightning but no wind or rain thats the scary part

  • jeez it got dark

  • hey redoctober90 its a thunderbolt 1

  • the calm before the storm...eerie

  • 20 minute Thunderstorm?

  • wat time was this i need 2 know

  • I honestly have no clue. The night video was shot before the day video though. (Probably the second and third time Vanderburgh County, IN was under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning between May 17 and August 1st in 2008).

  • when you said the "Sky is turning red" what was red?? was it like the light? or something else

  • cool i live in evansville as well and i remember that day lightnening stuck down on my neighbors house and blew the fuse and got it on fire.the winds were so strong that it virtually destroyed the bird house to its frame.and trash cans were from 5 blocks over on our street along with flooding and lots of broken windows.i live in a wooded area full of trees and dark lightless streets in evansville and my highschool had to get some new shingles and a few windows.

  • Wow!

  • I lived in evensville a couple of years ago I left because I didnt feel safe anymore their.

  • I sound drunk in this video, heh. Probably tired. "OK, here's the siren, duhrrrrr...."

  • Tornado sirens shouldn't be set off if there is a Severe Thunderstorm warning. They should go off only on a tornado warning, or the use of a tornado siren becomes useless.

  • That's got to be a Sentry siren.

  • it sounds like a p-50 siren 1000t1

  • Nah that ain't no P-50. They have a more roar sound to it. That sound is closer to a Sentry.

  • It is... all of evansville sirens are sentrys...

this one is probably the 40v2t

  • Comment removed

  • Tornado sirens go off when there is a Tornado watch and a Severe Thunderstorm Warning at the same time.

  • Not necessarily. Just a Severe Thunderstorm Warning this time.

  • Like I said Tornado watch no sirens, severe thunderstorm watch no sirens severe thunderstorm warning sirens might be likely in some cities but not in my hometown of Brownsville, Tennessee tornado warning sirens sound depending how many sirens is in your area my hometown have 8 sirens the county does not the city only have 8 sirens when one of the 8 sirens sound they all sound in tornado warnings only.

  • I posted my siren from the storm that hit Columbus area on 6/26. Dunno if it was the same day, your date is close. Mine is in the dark, but I took cause of I hadn't heard a siren in years and we were outside watching the storm. So you weren't the only one. Wasn't till we heard there was a funnel cloud/touch down a mile from us! LOL

  • That is a Sentry siren.

  • There is a video uploaded onto this channel of the main siren you hear in the video.

  • Not on my channel....maybe a playlist... but I don't have any videos of the sirens, sir.

  • I'm sorry. I meant it is on my channel. That is my mistake. I didn't make that clear in my first comment.

  • No problem :) Just making sure no one hacked my page.

  • When these sirens rang, did a tornado actually occur? Cause I live in Evansville and I don't remember one in June 2008.

  • No...just a severe thunderstorm warning.

  • it sounds like a federal 500AT, a SENTRY of some kind or a TEMPEST T-128

  • the sirens are not federal signal 500at or American Signal T-128 the sirens you are hearing are Whelen 4004's we have 4 of the Whelen 4004's the two new addition to the siren system are 2 2001-130's the other 2 are the 3t22 and the EOWS-612 4 federal signal sirens and 4 Whelen sirens total sirens are 8.

  • It's not a Whelen. And its definitely not a rotational unit. Evansville has a system of full Sentry's. The sirens in this video are all 20V1T's.

  • I live in evansville and i can only hear the one by Central Highschool

  • Comment removed

  • You would be correct, my man. I remember being down in the Big Lots plaza (which was right down the street from where I lived) and the siren was a shitload louder there.

  • The sirens go off 1 time for sev. thunderstorm warning or 2 times in a roll for tornado warning. It ddoesn't go off at all for any watches...

  • they sound like a ASC T-128

  • I think it sounds like a P-15.

  • i noticed in southern indiana they have a lot of whelens and T-128's

  • I bet they do I am sure the whelens are not always heard

  • i was at some cave in southern indiana, i live in central indiana, and i heard them being tested for like the last 6 seconds.

  • ok cool where they t-128s or whelens you heard

  • the whelens. i knew that because they have that cut off at the wind down.

  • yeah they dont wind down like a electromechanical siren winds down

  • all we have in brownsburg, IN is federal signal 2001's for some reason i only hear them do alert (tests and warnings). indianapolis has a ton of FS 2001's and a few thunderbolts still.

  • hey at least you have sirens to warn you we dont have shit in NY.

  • thats bull crap!

  • we dont have tornado sirens in New York we have sirens for the power plants and for volunteer fireman but no tornado sirens. I am sure the federal signal 2001 siren does its job warning you for tornados

  • i thought that NY didn't really get tornados.

  • An F-2 came through Westchester County NY in 2006 ripped up trees along Route 9 and the saw mill river parkway. They are very rare in NY and I am glad that they are.

  • Comment removed

  • We have our first two 2001's and 6 other sirens a total of 89.

  • They only sound them durning sever thunderstorm warning durning a tornado wacth, because the storm is capable of producing a tornado XD

  • scary video, but not as scary as the one I watched before this, the siren there was much scarier.

  • Just the sirens going off and looking at the sky brings an eerie feeling. Brings back memories of living in Missouri.

  • i hate how nothing but thunderstorms happen when the sirens do go off but when they don't we have tornados...freakalicious video :o

  • wut kind of sirens do they have down there?

  • they are like huge yellow ones that are so loud!! I hate them! (yes, i live in Evansville)

  • p-50s?

do they look like a big, open barrel?

  • i live in evansville to.i live less than a block away from one.its fucking loud

  • hey u live in devonshire don't you? i used to live there... that black lady that's the manager or whatever is a bitch...she kicked us out for being too loud...lol

  • yup....1250 erie ave. :)

  • the NWS sounds the sirens for a severe thunderstorm warning only if there is a tornado watch!

  • nooooooo......

  • It Depends and its not the NWS that sounds them its the city or countys dispatch center.

  • No Silly the Emergency Manager in whatever city or county you live in sound the sirens for tornado or severe thunderstorm warnings we only sound our 8 sirens for tornado warnings only severe thunderstorm and flash flood warning no sirens tornado warning all 8 sirens are activated. tornado, flash flood severe thunderstorm watch no sirens our emergency manager did his job sound all 8 sirens before a tornado ever come close to my hometown.

  • that makes since.... i live in Indiana but i live in a town 6 miles west of indianapolis in a different county. thats how i knew it.

  • Do you have sirens in your area? do you want to know our siren test time on our 8 sirens

  • yep i have 12 FS 2001 ACs in my town they are tested the same time as indy... every friday at 11:00 am.

  • We have 8 sirens in Brownsville, Tennessee 60 miles northeast of Memphis, Tennessee 30 miles west of Jackson, Tennessee our 8 sirens are now currently tested on the first Saturday of the month every month for 3 minutes at 12 pm.

  • opps i ment 2001 SRNs

  • @Coverdillem we were under 7 tornado warnings all of our sirens in Brownsville, Tennessee went off 7 times early in the morning about 2am.

  • Cool Vid ! ^_^

Since you want to be a weatherman, you have that weatherman voice .. :]

(i wouldn't be surprised if you become one)

So ya, cool vid again lol

  • Wow.!

    i remember that storm.!

    i waz scared soooo much.!

    wow.

    i live in evansville.!

that storm waz just so scary.!

  • Sounded to me like a sentry siren

  • nothing exciting like this happens in jersey

  • I live in Winslow Indiana. I think I remember that day. It is very strange how that system works with setting off the sirens for a severe storm. I am guessing that they do not want to take chances.

  • You live in Evansville? I never knew was a tornado that day. Nice video I would freak out at that time.

  • No tornado, just a severe thunderstorm warning.

  • waaiiit... No tornado? Then why was there sirens?

  • They sound them for severe thunderstorm warnings, too. (A tornado passed at 2 am just a few miles from where I am living right now, so Evansville is very storm-conscious.

  • ah. I hope you're ready for another round today. We're under watch right now.

  • They sound for Severe Thunderstorm warnings up here in Owen County too, only if the police departments think it's bad enough though.

  • BTW I sound like such a retard on this...

  • this one???

    the booming one?

  • The loud one you hear in this video is right down the street from me, but there is a fainter one you can hear wind down in the background before this one, which I know is not in this county (I heard it sound when there was only a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Henderson). But there are two of them.

  • cool
