@Rct3andCP Six Flags wouldn't of just shut it down, they put so much money into it, that if they just shut it down, Six Flags would've filed an official bankruptcy, and closed, instead, they did go bankrupt, but go out of it. Six Flags would've kept it open if they could, but because of the competition in the area taking away attendance, they needed to sell it. Cedar Fair bought the park to get rid of competition, and then use it against Kings Island, which when bought, CF had no use for GL...
No wonder Geauga Lake closed, there was hardly anyone there and the ones that were seemed to have more fun trying to throw an empty bottle of water into a trash container.
@dave18469 Do you realize that this is right before the park closed? Many attractions were already moved or closed during the filming. Some of the best roller coasters the park had to offer were already removed. I've been to this park several times and it was nothing like the film indicates. It is much like seeing a person on their death bed. Your missing them at their most exciting, lively points of their life.
@mdice42 I agree with you, I remember back when Sea World was just across the lake and the place was packed with thrill seekers. As kids we always went to Geauga Lake because it was closer and less expensive than Cedar Point for an entire family to enjoy a day together. I didn't know that that video was shot just prior to the park closing and would explain why it wasn't as full as I remember it being as a kid. RIP Geauga Lake and thanks for the memories.
Well, the closest parks are all in PA. There's Kennywood just south of Pittsburg, Waldameer in Erie, and Conneaut Lake Park in Conneaut Lake which is south of Erie, PA. Then there's Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH.
Evn tho i was mad at geauga lake for not making new rides..imma still miss it becuz of the childhood memories. The Headspin Aka. The Mind Eraser was my first roller coaster i rode when i was 9 :-(. If they wanna keep wildwater kingdom open they should jus keep geauga lake open that dont make any sense, i almost cried when I saw The Mind Eraser on this video lol CUZ I DONT WANT IT TO LEAVE ME!!!, I dont like calling it the "Headspin" because when I first rode it, it was called THE MIND ERASER
nice video and i have one question. does GL ever get crowded b/c i never go there. Im going there next saturday for cleveland clinic day and i have free tickets. i usually only go to CP, and am just wondering how big the crowd usually is.
You can almost always get a walk-on on any of the rides.
However, you are going on Clinic Day, which is by far Geauga Lake's busiest day, so you will see some crowds. But hey, you have free tickets, so why pass up a relaxing day at the park. Have fun!
I'm heading over sometime this week with my best friend, and we are mainly going over for the waterpark. It is a nice waterpark, buts it's not overly large, so you do have time for some roller coasters. Expect the waterpark to be more crowded than the amusement park, especially if it's a nice day. Like I said, have a great time.

xflight is the ONLY ride u have gotten from geauga lake. all of geauga lake's old rides were spread out amongs all Cedar Fair parks

Geauga Lake is hardly ever crowded.
You can almost always get a walk-on on any of the rides.
