That's not the correct melody. My band learned this as one of our first songs. The main problem is that at the fast part, he stepped up, when it really goes down. Here's the frets on the second to lowest string (correct key):

2--5--5-7-7----10-9-10-9-10--5­--5-7-7----

The more dashes between notes, the longer you hold em out.

1, it's called a string not a cord(you could easily misconceive cord and chord), 2, you're tabs or tuning are way off, 3, try alternate picking if you play ot like that or trill the 8 7 8 part. Finally, don't give guitar lessons if you can't play guitar yourself
